1038.0. "Veterinarian Wanted" by BRUTWO::HERON () Wed Jan 13 1988 16:04

I've just moved to eastern MA from Sunnyvale, CA and am looking for
a good veterinarian. I live in Natick, MA.

I'd like to go to a specialist, if possible, as my cat had surgery
and special instruments placed by her lung last year because of
breathing problems. At the very least, I would like to go to a vet
that has an x-ray machine.

If anyone is interested, I know of a very good veterinarian in
Sunnyvale, CA and an excellent, extremely "warm hearted," specialist.
Many of the people, at my old job, took their cats to these vets.

You might check with Dr. Elston at The Boston Cat Hospital for
a referral...unless his group can handle it. They don't hesitate
to refer if they feel the need. And the quality of care that they
provide is EXCELLENT, for both routine and emergency care.

They are on the Brookline/Boston border on Beacon St/Park St. corner.

    Welcome to the East!

1038.2Excellant Vet in your neighborhoodERASER::AREGOWed Jan 13 1988 16:356
Framingham Animal Hospital - Dr. Sue Rabout
Excellant scientist and very caring. She even treated my dying
4 foot lizard. All my dogs and cats until I moved to far away (for
emergency care). One of my dogs had to go through colon surgery
and other vets I had taken her too, just sold me pills which
did nothing but empty my pocket book.

If you're really looking for specialized care and top notch
technology, you might want to consider the Tufts Veterinary
School's Small Animal Clinic. It's part of Tufts University
of Medford, but the veterinary school/hospital is in Grafton.

It's not too far from Framingham actually. If you take
Rte. 9 West to Westboro, get off the Rte. 30 West exit. About
a mile or so from downtown Westboro, you'll find the veterinary
school on your left. It's right on the Westboro/Grafton line.
It probably wouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes to get there.

Also, we have a Veterinarians note established already (don't
know the number) and you might want to look through that.

    Regards,
    Donna

Another possibility is to ask your old specialist vet if he or she
knows someone doing similar work in your new area. They may have
    met at medical conferences, etc.

1038.5another "yea" for the Fram. Animal Hos.PBA::DALEYWed Jan 13 1988 18:0812
I also use the Framingham Animal Hospital - as does the earlier
noter - and find it to be an excellent clinic. I usually ask
for Dr. Nord (as I know her through the Framingham Animal Humane
Society and she donates her time to treat the shelter cats for
the Framingham Humane Society- and there are ALOT of them) but
I know that Dr. Rabout is just as excellent.

I take my dog and 7 cats there.
As you can probably tell - I think very highly of the place.

I used to live in Ashland, MA and brought my cats to Slade Veterinary
Clinic on Rt. 126 in Framingham (not far from Rt. 9). Dr. Anita
Migday is the owner of the practice and I think she's wonderful.
(She used to have a show on PBS called "Cats and Dogs" and also
    - last I knew - did a show on Framingham Cable.)

I now live in Westford, MA and still bring my boys down there (about
a 35 mile trip) but to me it's worth the hassle. I wouldn't trust
my cats to anyone else. They have their own lab (x-rays, ekg, blood
work, o/r, etc) and they also have facilities to board both dogs and
cats. I've been in the room where the cats stay and it's nice and
bright and airy. The practice is open from 8:00-8:00 Monday through
Thursday, till 6:00 on Friday, and till sometime in the afternoon
on Saturdays. My cats have always gotten the best care and attention
there and I highly recommend them.
