1021.0. "The Cat Hospital in Boston? The Cat Doctor in Bedford?" by 16180::REHM (In mirth consists treasure...) Thu Jan 07 1988 14:02

    I'm new to the Boston area and live in Lexington. My partner
    works near The Cat Hospital in Ruggles Square, near the Longwood
    Medical Center. Spay prices seem high ($45) (yes..I've visited
    note 525), but nothing is too good for her cats.

    My question is, does The Cat Hospital have a good reputation?

    Also, nearby in Bedford I passed a place called The Cat Doctor.
    Anyone know about her/him, too?

    Thanks,

1021.1Boston Cat Hospital: STRONG recommendationGLINKA::GREENEThu Jan 07 1988 14:4618
    If you are talking about THE BOSTON CAT HOSPITAL at the corner
    of Park and Beacon at the Boston/Brookline border... I have
    had the BEST of experiences with them (and as a breeder, I think
    I might have the MOST of experiences with them as well! ;-)
    Others have also reported good things.

    As for prices, there have been times when I thought they charged
    a bit much, but more often, I was surprised that it was not more!

    All three vets clearly love cats, as do all the rest of the staff.
    And they take very seriously whatever the human says. There is
    always a vet on call with a beeper, and an after-hours emergency
    visit is only a bit more than a regular visit, which was a real
    surprise!

    Hope you are happy with whichever vet you choose,

1021.2just my opinion...VAXWRK::DUDLEYThu Jan 07 1988 16:0212
    I've never used THE CAT DOCTOR in Bedford, but I did stop
    in there to 'check the place out' several months ago when
    I saw it. The vet, is Dr. Carlson, brother of the other
    Dr. Carlson, formerly of Stow Animal Hospital. I think
    he used to have another practice in Chelmsford but decided
    to specialize. While I didn't meet Dr. Carlson, the nurse
    /receptionist was very nice, the place is very cheery and
    clean. They have a resident cat whose large picture graces
    the wall (Dr. Carlson's wife is a photographer). I think
    his name is Tigger. I "seemed" like it was a good place.
