858.0. "Quick Flea Question " by SKETCH::BASSETT (Retirement - Year 2034) Mon Oct 26 1987 18:31

    Hi Everyone,

    Just a very quick question... I would have put this in a FLEA topic
    area but I need a quick answer.

    I have been told in this file that garlic will get rid of fleas
    to a certain degree if your kitty eats it in his/her food. Well,
    my question is how much should you give her and for how long?
    Everyday?

    Thanks a whole lot if I could get an answer back today that would
    be great because I won't be here for the rest of the week.

    Be aware that the only thing garlic does is make the kitties skin
    taste funny to the flea (similar to the effect brewers yeast has).
    Unless the fleas don't like the taste of garlic, all you'll do is
    give your kitty gas and funny breath.

858.2Where to get Brewer's Yeast?DECSIM::TAYLORTue Nov 03 1987 12:586
    I spoke to the vet about garlic and brewer's yeast. She also
    suggested apple cider vinegar. My question is is brewer's yeast
    the same as regular yeast (ala Fleishmann's) you get at the
    supermarket? If not, where can you get it? Thanks.

    Brewer's yeast isn't the same as regular yeast. You can find it
    at any "health food" store.

    Good luck with the battle...this is the first time in 3 years I
    haven't had to fight the mighty flea battle....instead, this year,
    Honey got feline acne...what's next?????
