813.0. "Drummondville QUEBEC anyone? (10-11 Oct)" by GLINKA::GREENE () Mon Oct 05 1987 15:39

Anyone else going to this show? It will be small, 'cause Cats Magazine
forgot to list *where* to send entries (or did that info never get
sent to them?). Good excuse to visit friends in Montreal!

play with -- just 3 weeks older than Coo!)

Strangely enough I will be in Montreal this coming weekend. Where
    exactly is it in Quebec?

813.2I *think* its near MontrealGLINKA::GREENEWed Oct 07 1987 11:227
I think that Drummondville is between Montreal and Quebec City.
[If my information is wrong, and it is up by the artic circle,
the kits and I will have a nice weekend in Montreal, where we are
staying, and skip the cat show ;-| ]

I am expecting exact directions in the mail today, so let me know
if you'd like me to send a copy tomorrow.

Yes, I'll be going to the da Vinci exhibit up there, maybe I can
    stop by the cat show...

    Hi P...

Just wait till your at the show and make a final and they "do it"
all in french....and you don't know what place your kitty made!!!

    tee hee....

Actually, the finals are usually done partly french, partly english.
When they call the cats they call the numbers both in french and
english....of course, sometimes they forget to call the numbers
    in english!!!

If you don't speak french, find someone to tell you what your kittens
number will be in french so you can listen for the call!!!

The athmosphere for cat shows sure is different in Canada!!!

re .1 Montreal is the big city on the St. Lawrence River. You can't
miss it, there are lots of signs. ;-)

re .2 You need not fear about Montreal and Drummondville being
too close to the Arctic Circle. From the news reports we've been
getting here in Mid-Eastern Canada (where it has been raining for
the last week), all the snow is in New England. (From Montreal,
you still have to travel about 20 more degrees of latitude to the
    Arctic Circle.) ;-)

re .4 I don't think the directions mentioned that Drummondville
is east of Montreal. It is about a one hour drive, depending on
where in Montreal your departure point is (it can take from half
an hour to an hour to get through Montreal from west to east,
depending on traffic). Traffic may be a little heavier this weekend
as it is the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend. Good luck,

    Tom

    re: .6

Thanks, Tom. An hour from Montreal isn't bad. I hadn't yet checked
my map, but friends had told me times ranging from 1/2 hour to
2-3 hours! My concern about the Artic was not the weather -- neither
sleet nor hail nor...will keep my kitten from a show ;-) I was
more worried about what if Drummondville was up past the Artic and
my nice hosts in Montreal were a nifty 10 hours away or some such!

Let's hope the 20 inches of snow that parts of N.E. and N.Y. got
are cleared off the main highways! At least I have *lots* of kitty
litter in the back of my station wagon to weigh down the rear wheels
--- and to toss under tires stuck in ice or snow. Um...that's
*clean* litter, but perhaps I could recycle the used...???

Okay, I give up, what did your title mean?

Glad to put your mind at ease about the distances. The title is
a bit of a Canadian joke about French Canadians who drink a lot
of Pepsi and eat a lot of Joe Louis cakes (something like a chocolate
Twinkie), and do so at all hours of the day.
