| I have read in numerous publications and have been told my many vets
over the years that none of these "flea-repellent" pills have been
scientifically shown to work. I lived in Southern Florida for years
with an intense flea problem, and tried them all. 'Twas true -- none
of them worked. Only chemicals (on the cat, in the house, in the yard)
even came close, and I'm not sure the toxicity wasn't worse than the
fleas!
My solution was to move to Colorado and then to New England where
I have not had the problem.

| I'd be real leary about giving any kind of pills not vet prescribed.
Some things, especially things in health food stores sit on shelves
for long periods of time. If you want to try something cheap, plain
brewers yeast in tablets or sprinkled on food sometimes makes cats
distasteful to the flea, but like everything else, sometimes it
works, mostly it doesn't.

| Actually, I have a cousin who got pills like these from a Vet.
She has given some to my mother for her cat and she said they worked.
She then sent some out to me for my Tiggy (Mrs. Tiggy Winkle. You
know, from Beatrix Potter). I have given a couple to her and I
think they seem to work but haven't decided for sure. The problem
with the ones that we got is that they only last for a couple of
days. You are supposed to give a cat 1/4 of a tablet twice a week.
I don't know if you can get them from a Vet out here or not. My
cousin lives in Indiana and my mother in Illinois. My mom can't
get them in Illinois...
