668.0. "Calico Cat looking for a good home" by USMRM2::KSHEPHERD () Thu Jul 16 1987 20:05

Calico cat - looking for a good home.

We have a cat that the neighborhood has been taking care of since
early spring. The cat is located in Worcester, short hair, calico,
average size, friendly but a little timid. I do not know a lot about
the cat such as name, sex (I have a fear of cat's),and age. All
I know is that it really needs a good home. I do not want to take
it to a shelter, I would prefer to place the cat in a good home.
    If interested please contact me:

If you cannot find a home, please consider the no-kill
shelter in Barre, it's right next door to Worcester.

Odd's are about 99% that she's female (a redundant statement if
    ever I saw one).

Yes, calicos are female. I think it's worth big bucks if you find
    a male calico.

I wish I wish I wish I could take that kitty as I have a soft spot
for calicos. Unfortunately I have 2 cats in an already crowded
studio apartment in Worcester. Witt animal hospital near Webster
Square on Main St helps people find homes for kitties, you might
try him. And don't be intimidated by the vet, he's much better
    with animals than humans.

male calicos aren't that valuable, even from a breeder perspective.
Most male calicos would be sterile (the genetics would require an
XXY). About 1 out of every 100 calicos is male.

I knew a lady who had an tri-color bobtail that was fertile. She
couldn't even find anyone interested in him for stud.

In many associations male calicos can't be shown in their breed
because there is no color class for the male calico.

A persian male calico would have to be shown as an AOV (All Other
    Variety).

668.6Kitty wants a loving ownerUSMRM2::KSHEPHERDFri Jul 17 1987 14:4712
Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I really am not interested in
making a profit off of this poor animal. I just want to try to place
it myself so that I can check on it once in a while. He is a really
nice cat for someone who likes cats. I myself have a dog. I don't
know if I could stand dropping this cat off at a shelter and not
knowing what happens to it. I am not a cat person, but this cat
is kind of like a fixture in our yard now. Everyone likes it but
no-one is willing to adopt it. I just want to give him to someone
that will care about it. It is a nice animal that deserves a good
    home. Please ask around.
