640.1Anyone Showing at the Boston Cat Show?JAWS::LOOMISWed Jul 01 1987 19:116
I'm planning on going to the Boston cat show this weekend. Are any
fellow-noters exhibiting there? If so, I'd love to stop by and meet
you and your kitty(s). Just let me know how to find you there...
(if that's possible at such a big show-)

We entered our Russian Blue for Saturday only. Just get a program
and look under Russian Blue, Male Alter Champion (RB500MC?) for
Road's End Enoch Snow. We'll be there.

Usually on the ends of the rows they have signs with the last names
of the exhibitors in that aisle of cages.

    Bryan,

I may be going out of town for the weekend, but if not then I will
certainly be attending the show...and will look for you and
    Enoch Snow!

I met a couple of noters at the Lexington show, and it was so nice
to put human faces and furry bodies to the various names we read
    about.

Little Secret Princess will be old enough (by one week!) for kitten
class in the Framingham show in September, so that will be the next
show that I plan to enter. But I will try to make it to the Manchester
show in late August in the meantime.

Good luck to all who are showing (or are being shown ;-)

I know that Elaine Trachman will be there...showing Yurii and Lara
in the Household Pet categories. I'm sure she'd be pleased to meet
more of her fellow noters. (She'll be wearing a light blue,
    colonial-style dress and mobcap.)

I'll be there with the boyfriend referrd to in note 645, scars and
all. ;-) I would love to enter Mielikki as she is a beautiful long
haired calico, but she might take a judge's arm off. So, I'll just
be looking and will be sure to search for the fellow noters.

640.7My opinionsAKA::TAUBENFELDAlmighty SETFri Jul 10 1987 01:5616
I was at the cat show on the 4th. I stopped by Elaine Trachman's
cage but she was so busy I didn't want to bother her and say hello.
I did see her cats and I think Lara is beautiful. I also stopped
by Bryan Willam's cage, but he was someplace else.

I have only been to one show before this, so you could say I'm a
naive attender. I thought the show was pretty small, was that the
usual size? And I hate to say this (I know I'm going to upset
people here) but I saw some UGLY cats there. The white ones with
really short hair looked more like rats than cats. Guess I'll always
be a 'cute and cuddly' cat lover. I did see plenty of that
type and proceeded to get yelled at for touching one. I agree,
the woman had every right to yell at me, I was just dissapointed
    I couldn't pet any.

    RE: .7

I know what you mean. The last show I was in I was benched next
to my friend Meg Lambert. She was showing her cat named Treckie.
Now this is an *UGLY* cat. She shows him as an Oriental, I think,
but he is one of the strangest felines I have ever seen. I have
noproblem voicing this opinion in public like this because Meg is
the first to admit that you either love this cat or hate him.
Fortunately for her, the judges seem to love him quite a bit. She
once told me how well he did in 1986 (I forget the exact details)
and I was very impressed - and a bit flabbergasted. Thinking about
it, he just might have been one of the cats you saw at the show.
I know that Meg was showing that weekend (so what else is new?).

My wife said someone stopped by from DEC. Must have been you. Sorry
    I missed you.

You are right about the rat part. I have one. but this cat is the
most cuddley cat of our crew. She will sleep on your neck and lick
your face, and sit on your lab and purr, and come greet you at the
door... Our other two just acknoweledge we are there then continue
whatever they were doing. ("Take a number, and I'll get back to
    you..")

I think you are right about the ugly cats too. Comes with the teritory,
    no doubt.

    RE: 7

Sorry to have missed you also! They had us in three rings at once!
I had one cat in a final at one end of the hall and the other cat
in a final at the opposite end - then they called for judging in
a third ring no one knew where! I hope Lara greeted you properly!
She is really very friendly. She ended up third for the weekend!
We had about 180 entries - usual number is 225 - guess the 180
wasn't too bad for the July 4th weekend. The Manchester show
should be fun - note to follow in August. Hope to see you there.
I will probably only have two or maybe three of the babies and not
Yurii so it should be a little easier - only two if the Vet says
that Ivan's double heart murmur is still very audible and showing
him will stress him too much. I'm very worried about him - I have
never had a kitty with any problems like this.
