                                -< LOST KITTEN >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My name is Dawnne and I work in Payroll. I had a kitten who went
outside one night three weeks ago, and never came back. She was
gorgeous and very frisky. She loved to scratch at my furniture,
chew on my plants, knock things over and make a terrible mess.
I'd come home from work and would have to spend at least an hour
cleaning up the mess she made. Kitten (and cats) are like having
small children; they can be a pain in the neck, but you love them
and would never give them up. She was lost in Ayer, MA. If anyone
who reads this lives in that area, here is a description:

Small, female, calico cat. Ten months old, multi-colored; tan,
black, orange, white. She was spayed about a month ago. If anyone
has any information, please contact me at DTN 223-8650 or on
NIKON::SANTOS. I really want her back.

Dawnne has already done all these things, as well as putting
up posters. She had a couple of people contact her, thinking
they had found/seen her kitty, but unfortunately it was not
    her kitty.

Every day I contact all the vets in the area (From Leominister to
Acton) also the Humane Societies and anthing else listed under
"Vetrinarians" or "Animals" in the phone book. Unfortunately, no
one has seen Kitty. My husband and I miss her terribly. It is horrible
to come home from work and wait for her to run up to you, but she
doesn't. She was a wonderful kitten, and just a baby. I truely
hope that maybe she has found another family.

Yesterday, we picked up another little kitten. A 7-week old part
tiger and part calico. She is adorable. She is just a little ball
of fur that bounces around. She has already adapted very nicely
to us and spent a good part of last night curled up either on my
lap or my husbands. Although she is not kitty, there is more than
enough love in us for her also. I want to thank Stephanie who sent
me a vaxmail letting me know she had the kittens. You get a special
kind of happiness and joy from watching and loving a little kitten
    (or cat).

Now I am trying to think of a name for the new kitten. Does anyone
have any suggestions? I would be happy to hear from you cat lovers.
We were thinking of calling her Clancey after my husbands late
    grandfather. A remarkably strong man.

Well, Kitty still has not come home. We did have some incouraging
news though. My neighbor, in the same apartment building, saw Kitty
in the fire escape (that is how she used to get in and out of the
house) about two weeks ago. We he tried to grab Kitty, she ran
off. Also, a neighbor next door saw her and managed to grab her.
He put her in the hallway of the apartment building but someone
must have let her out again. At least I know she is still alive.

In my other Note (.3?) I told about my new kitten. Well, four days
after we got her, we decided to also get one of her sisters. We
named them Gumby and Pokey. Pokey is part Calico/Tiger (dark gray,
white and some orange), Gumby is Gray and white.

They are so adorable to watch. They chase each other around the
apartment knocking over anything in their way. Pokey has a habit
of laying in my husbands expensive Italian shoes. I guess she knows
    good taste.

Talk about affectionate cats! Gumby CRAVES my attention and love.
If I let her, she would spend hours laying on my neck and walking
all over me when I am sitting or laying down. She also likes to
wake me up in the middle of the night.

    That's my babies!

It is sad for me to say that Kitty has still not come home yet.
Although we have two other kittens, I still miss her. Sometimes
just to think of her makes me cry, because I don't know if she is
alive or not. She is a year old this month and I wish I could have
celebrated her birthday with her. Just a little baby.

A friend of mine has a cat that goes outside during the summer,
and they never see her again until the weather gets cold. Maybe
Kitty will come back in the fall.

It is so sad to have a loved cat disappear and never come home.
I hope it nevers happens to any of you.

    Dawnne,

I can really feel your sadness, and know how you must feel. I'll
send some thoughts that Kitty is ok and she finds her was back to
    you.

612.7Where is KittyVAXWRK::DUDLEYWed Aug 26 1987 22:1627
Dawnne, you mentioned in an earlier reply that Kitty had been
seen on some stairway of your apt. bldg. and apparently some-
one had actually put her in the hallway, only she escaped.
Has anyone seen her again? Did you put up any LOST posters?

I was recently assisting someone who's indoor cat escaped after
her house was broken into and a window left open. I made a
flyer from pictures she had of the cat here in the office on a
regular xerox machine. Didn't come out too bad. Made 150
copies and put in all mailboxes in the immediate area as well
as hanging in main entrance of some nearby apartment bldgs.
People really will keep their eyes open for your pet if you
do this. Fortunately the cat returned home after 4 days
(and 2 sightings, one by me, one by her). But 2 people who
had the flyer put in their mailbox called to see if the cat
had been found. Nice to know some people really care.

It may not be too late for you to find Kitty. Maybe someone
in the area has her or has seen her. If you'd like to do
this, feel free to give me a call and I will be glad to help
    with the distribution of flyers.

Poor Kitty, I hope she's not living the life of a stray.
I really understand your sadness, it's natural, and I too
hope that Kitty finds her way home.
