I'm in Basingstoke, Viables in the Customer Support Centre. Where
    are you.

Uh oh! If you mean Basingstoke, U.K., that means there would be
a *6 month quarantine* on any kittens arriving from the U.S. Last
I checked, it didn't matter at all whether they were up-to-date
on vaccinations -- 6 months in "gaol," but they were permitted
visitors. You people have no rabies, and the authorities (and
presumably everyone else...) would like to keep it that way.

Anyone know if this has changed?

There seem to be just a few contributors to FELINE from your
"island," but maybe there are more who read but don't write...?

Good luck finding a couple of warm, purring fuzzies!

511.4Animal shelters?PARITY::WHALENDeniseFri Mar 13 1987 23:3511
Too bad you are so far away. There are so many kitties needing
good homes. Do you have animal shelters near you where unwanted,
unclaimed animals can be found? We have many here, it's terribly
sad to go there and see all those animals who need love. I've gotten
several cats from such places over the course of my life, and
    they have all been wonderful.
If you know of such an organization in your area, please go there.
You can save a life and get a great companion.

    Hi Julia,

I'm not trying to give away any of my 5 little darlings, but I
recognised BASHER as being somewhere in Europe, and thot that you
might get a better response if people knew where you were. I know
that we have some readers in the UK, so, anyone out there in the
UK that can help make Julia a pet human, please help.

I would suggest going along to your local Vet, and looking on the
notice board in the waiting room for information about animal shelters.
When we were in the market for a second cat, we did just that, and
got a rather nice one from the local Petwatch person in Reading.
I'm sure there must be one in Basingstoke as well.

One of the cat magazines recently ran an article about American
families stationed in Europe and their pets. It seems that alot
of the families end up leaving their pets behind when it comes time
to relocate. These abandoned animals need new homes and this might
be a great place for you to find a truly needy pet.

If anyone would like more information about the shelter set up for
these animals you can write to:
