386.0. "I'm serious!!!" by JAWS::COTE (Luckless pedestrian...) Wed Nov 12 1986 16:12

    This might be a tad distasteful but I'm kind of concerned...

    Recently my cat Aja (a cute little white unit of no distinct
    breeding) started developing what seems to be, (for lack of a
    better term), boogers.

    These items form along the edge of both nostrils regularly about
    once a week. They are easily removed with a tissue, ("Here Kitty,
    blow...") and are always very dark. The color caught my attention
    as the first thing I thought of was dried blood from nasal bleeding.
    However, there are no other signs of bleeding (stained fur, bad
    breath, ect.)

    Is this unusual? I don't ever remember any of my parents cats
    having this affliction.

    Thanks

    Edd ('n Aja)

386.1Don't know anything you can do about it either!DONJON::SCHREINERdanger zoneWed Nov 12 1986 16:317
    No, I don't think this is unusual. Some of my cats have the same
    thing, while others don't. It is especially more noticeable on
    white cats because of the non-color!!!

    One of my cats had this problem for most of her life. I asked
    several different vets about it and was always told that it
    was harmless.

386.3Messy Eater?CSC32::JOHNSMon Nov 17 1986 18:086
    I constantly have to clean Cheetah's nose. In his case it is dried
    food.

    You can lead a cat to eat, but you can't teach him good eating habits.
