36.0. "teeth" by ADVAX::C_WAY () Mon Sep 24 1984 14:19

Do kittens have baby teeth. Bandit was sitting on my stomach licking his
chops last night, and a tooth came out of his mouth. There was no bleeding
or anything, and no root on it either. The tooth was from the side on the
upper jaw.

Yep, Sammy just finished loosing his 'baby teeth', you might notice
that your kitten still has some of his baby teeth with the permanent
ones growing in behind them.

When do kittens usually lose their teeth? Chorniy came to us minus
his lower left canine (feline?- the long pointy one), and I'm wondering
when/if he'll get a replacement for that one and grow the rest of teh
permanent ones.

Well, I'm answering my own question. Chorniy is now about 5 1/2 months
old and he's getting his permanent teeth in. It looks really peculiar -
he has double fangs right now, except for the one that was missing which
has been growing in. Makes for a strange bite pattern when he teeths on
my wrist. Koshka, who is about 3-4 weeks younger, doesn't have her new
teeth yet, which is fine since she's been precocious in "other matters".
She's at the vet's right now - Chorniy had to go last week since two cats
is all my house (and my constitution) can take!
