1659.0. "Can't delete records after Upsize" by PRMS00::bjodial1_port7.bjo.dec.com::cascio (Steve Cascio, PRMS00::cascio) Thu May 22 1997 13:02

I just used the Upsize Wizard to move a number of Access tables (Access 95)
to SQLServer (6.5). The upsize seemed to work fine. The data is in
SQLserver and I can read and change it at will from Access (using the linked
tables that the upsize tool left behind) as well as iSQL on the NT box.
The problem comes when I attempt to delete a record. Using iSQL ... no
problem ... from Access I get a pop-up window with:

! Data has changed; operation stopped

What have I done wrong? ... or ... what do I need to do that I have not
done???

1659.1The problem seems to relate to fields w/ Null dataPRMS00::bjodial1_port7.bjo.dec.com::cascioSteve Cascio, PRMS00::cascioThu May 22 1997 19:349
Well ...

It seems to be related to null fields in the record ...
If there are any null fields in the record I get the error
message ... w/o nulls the delete works fine.

Is there any way around this? My data is strewn with Nulls.

Can you add default values to all of the fields?

1659.3I could ... but I don't want to ... shouldn't it work?PRMS00::copras1_port6.cop.dec.com::cascioSteve Cascio Pager: 301-930-2731Thu May 22 1997 21:508

I guess I could ... but until now Nulls didn't hurt ... is it truely
an ODBC/SQLserver limitaion?
