I was seeing this same error but only when I sent mail from a remote
node thru decnet (to: node::mstest) where mstest was set forward to
MS-Exchange using smtp%. I was thinking it was an smtp problem but
with the help of a fellow at CSC on the UCX team we showed it was not
by sending in as smtp instead of decnet mail. Then he gave me hints of
where to look, mail/decnet coming into the node. Within 2 minutes of
hanging up with CSC I discovered the Decnet MAIL object was associated
with an account that had no default dir. I did this:
$create/dir SYS$SYSDEVICE:[DECNET_MAIL]/owner=DECNET_MAIL
and that fixed my problem. Just wanted to report that here since i've
seen lots of reports on this error.
