...because I kept getting cut off in traffic this morning.

Some geek *purposely* cut me off (I had my turn signal on and everything)
on the highway, as I was trying to get around a truck (he was behind
me). For the briefest of moments, I forgot myself and felt like
ramming him (him and that old guy in the nice shiny beemer who cut me
off not 3 minutes later). Since I'm still driving my old junker around,
it wouldn't have bothered me in the least- what's another scratch or dent
to my butt-ugly car? Would've been a big deal to slobo in his $30K
car, though- and old dude in his nice new beemer. Might also
have been a good lesson in courtesy for them both.

The other three times or so I was cut off was probably not intentional.

Actually, I'm not cranky about it anymore (stupidity/lack of courtesy on
the roadways in these parts are simply a normal part of everyday life),
so maybe I should've placed this in the TTHT topic, simply due to the
    overabundance of idiocy this morning.

	Steve,

What are you trying to imply by your use of the term "geek" ?

Is that some sort of disparaging statement against intellectuals ?

I think your biases are showing.

I believe the origin of the term "geek" is from the carnival
person whose act consisted of biting the heads off live chickens
or rats and similar exploits - nothing to do with intellectuals.

Was there an on going problem? I didn`t think he looked well in his

RTw 09/13 1300 Actor who immortalised Holmes dies, aged 59

LONDON, Sept 13 (Reuter) - Actor Jeremy Brett, who immortalised the
detective Sherlock Holmes on British television for 10 years, has died
    of heart failure aged 59.

Hailed as the definitive Holmes, Brett died peacefully at his London
home, a spokesman for Granada Television said on Wednesday.

"He was a great friend and a really remarkable actor," said Edward
Hardwicke, who played Holmes' bumbling sidekick Dr Watson in the hugely
popular series. "Jeremy brought extraordinary energy to the part and
    made it his own."

The son of a colonel, Brett appeared in the film version of My Fair
Lady. He married actress Anna Massey in 1958 but the couple was
divorced four years later. They had one son.

He married American actress Joan Sullian in 1978 but she died of cancer
in 1986, plunging him into depression.

He began playing Holmes in 1984, relaunching a career which was in the
    doldrums during the 1970s.

After collapsing with heart trouble in 1993 while filming his last
appearance as Holmes, Brett said: "I would be risking my heart, head
and neck if I was to stick it on the block again playing Holmes."

I'm cranky because I wasted the whole weekend with a nasty cold. I did
manage to fix my car on Saturday (being out in a nice chilly breeze
most of the day didn't help my cold much, though).

I'm nicely numb this morning after about 3 hours of solid sleep last
night and a good dose of Drixoral 12-hour cold/flu.

Oh well, at least I have my voice back (for now).

    	1) I got to bed late last night.
    	2) My daughter woke up 4 times last night.
    	3) My son, the one that never wakes up at night, woke up twice
    	   last night.
    	4) Hubby and I got to "discuss" the proper handling of item #3
for longer than necessary at 3:15 a.m.
    	5) The volume on the alarm clock was too low this morning, allowing
me to oversleep by 15 minutes.
    	6) I arrived at work 15 minutes late, only to realize I was in
a class scheduled to start 1 minute after I arrived.
    	7) I was in class most of the day.
    	8) I missed my run due to item #7.
    	9) I got offered an aerobics class at a great gym, at a time when
    	   I am not available.
    	10) I'm out of coffee.

I was told that I needed, without fail, to go to this rehearsal
    tonight. It was very important.

I sold my symphony tickets. Some total stranger got to see Emanuel Ax
    in my wonderful seats.

I wasn't needed at the rehearsal which started at 7:00 until about 8:15.
I was on stage about 15 minutes, then I sat and waited for almost half
an hour, and then I was told I could go home.

542.100GIDDAY::BURTDPD (tm)Thu Oct 19 1995 01:068
'twas here yesterday. The wording seemed designed to offend.

The infamous "which way is up and out" doors are closed. Someone commented
that it looks like a hospital here now - I think it looks marginally better
than that, but the screams of pain are pretty similar.
