219.0. "Official Feed the world topic - Chow down" by CONSLT::MCBRIDE (aspiring peasant) Wed Dec 28 1994 18:37

This is an outgrowth of the enviro issue rat hole. Let's feed the
world. How do we do it. Is it s good thing or a bad thing? What
are the obstacles and how do we over come them? Have at it.

    soilent green?

seriously, the problem appears to be one of distribution, rather than
the amount available. Fix the distribution issues, and then we can
    see.

I believe feeding people and nothing else is counter-productive,
though. Helping people get their own crop systems back under control,
rather than trucking in rice, millett and soybeans strikes me as a
better way to go. Somalia was self-sufficient, until the dust-up which
drove people off the land and then broke down most of the normal
family farms, and village culture that enabled farming in this area.

    To Citizen ???

If you want to limit the amount of personal income to $1 million (or

And are you talking wealth? Or annual income?

If they're going to take money away from me to give to others, why

I'm talking about all the people with repulsive amounts of money i.e
multi millionaires,billionaires.No-one needs that kind of money or can
spend that kind of money in a lifetime(if they can spend it then they
    should be shot).

Oh yes, and don't forget that the proceeds from tickets to the
Sudbury Savoyards' production of "The Mikado" starring Mz Debra

It sounds like you are just jealous of those who have mor than you.
Those who are multi-millionares more often than not help others by
creating businesses. These business create jobs for the workers. The
workers pay helps others by them buying stuff.
Without multi-millionares creating jobs, the economy would
collapse. There is no way in the world an economy controlled by
government (which is what we would have without multi-millionares)
    would survive.
