quote from an article in today's Boston Globe (pg. 27) titled
"Delegates bring ire, hopes to Beijing"

"This will be the biggest, and I dare say most important, United
Nations conference in history," said Gertrude Mongella, a Tanzanian
diplomat and secretary general of the conference. "This is a conference
    for action."
    ------------------------------------

BTW... the title is deceiving as is the first part of the article where
the impression is that the conference is going to be in Beijing... as
we all know, the conference got hustled out to the hinterland so as not
to upset too many in the "patriarchy"...

--------------------------------------------------------------

    > "This will be the biggest, and I dare say most important, United
    > Nations conference in history," said Gertrude Mongella, a Tanzanian
    > diplomat and secretary general of the conference. "This is a conference
    > for action."

    Yeah, right......

Two different situations, in the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior,
Greenpeace was intentionally, and actively attacking the French
                                  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
government. In the Ruby Ridge incident, the U.S. government went after
    ^^^^^^^^^^^
someone who wanted to be left alone. The two are in no way similar.

Honestly I don't give a rip about Greenpeace as an organization. I
resent eco-facists trying to dictate THEIR VALUES to me.

Some things greenpeace say are verging on the extreme..However, if we
would only take on board some of the things they say we can make this a
more habitable world for our children, there seem at the moment a
selfish tendency to think only of the present, ie investing for
short-term profits and not thinking of our future existance.

And they better not actively attack any more governments, or
by golly, we'll bomb 'em right out of the ocean!

Hey, Greenpeace went looking for trouble, and they found it...

Interesting theory, so all the horse doots that we have had to go
through to satisfy these eco-freaks has not accomplished anything. It
sounds to me like we have ANOTHER organization feeding at the public
trough that is trying to stir-up the ignorant so that they can keep
themselves in the lifestyle that they are accustomed to. I have a
great deal of difficulty believe people who's hype are completely
self-serving. Especially when they CLAIM to be interested in MY
welfare. All things considered I'll take care of myself TYVM, and keep
    your hands outta my wallet!

No, I had something all together different in mind as to what that one
    meant.....

Maybe more like all the 'earthy-crunchies' that were at the Chapin
Music Festival. You know, tiedyed shirts, VW busses painted all sorts
of funky colors, long hair, long skirts, big capes, socks and sandals.
    That kind of 'crunchy'.
