    I verbalized a personal disparagement to another individual apparently
    operating a motor vehicle without the assistance of cerebellum.

    I'm in love with Martha Stewart, the "good things" lady from Lifetime.
    There, I've said it.
    
    At first, I turned on the show just to laugh.  How can you not 
    laugh at someone pretentious enough to talk about preparing the
    chicken she was grilling in a "marinaaahhd," instead of "marinade?"
    I kept wanting to ask her is she also wanted a drink of lemonaaahhd.
    
    Our love has blossomed over time.  I think it's her voice that does it.
    Martha is a kind of Mr. Rogers for yuppies and those fortunate souls
    who have no more disagreeable problems than the rigors of trying to
    plant a medieval herb garden on the sweeping and well-manicured grounds
    of their estate, or trying to find a cute enough antique shop to
    frequent.  She's selling the fantasy of a world where everything stays
    nice and calm and polite and beautiful as she drones on and on about
    topics that only the affluent really have the time to pursue.

    My family ate Spam a lot because there wasn't much money to go around
    in those days.  Mom used to "doctor" it up like she would a ham, so
    I never found it all that objectionable.  Now peas....that's another

    It appears that I was wrong in my assessment in another note about a
    particular article being anti-Semitic.  I can now see that the article
    could have an anti-Semitic flavor to it.  Not being sensitive to this
    subject, I never noticed the reference to the person in question
    belonging to pro-jewish organizations.

    On rare occasions, probably when I need a serious salt fix, I get
    in a mood for Spam.  But it has to be fried and fried and fried,
    to the point where if you strike the resulting product on a hard
    surface, either the Spam or the surface must shatter.  Brittle,
    toasty, crusty Spam that cracks cleanly along its fault lines.
    
    If it has the slightest degree of flexibility or chewiness, it's
    repulsive.
    
    I don't want to know what it is.  Well, okay, maybe, but only out
    of morbid curiosity.

    cheddar cheese and you never know that the meat substance is Spam.

    a notes conference.. At said party there was a *CAKE*. On that *CAKE*
    there was this women.  BUCK NAKED!!!
    
    I confess.!!! I WAS THE ONE WHO ORDERED THE CAKE, ALSO DELIVERED THE
    CAKE TO THE PARTY!!  It tasted pretty good too.!!! :-) Everyone had
    a piece and enjoyed it.

    My former group did a "torso" cake for our boss; anatomically
    correct.....it was absolutely amazing what they did with the
    chipped chocolate :-0  He had a great sense of humor, but said

I supported Nixon/Lodge in 1960, when I was 7.  By 1972, I was smart enough

    well, there really wasn't a lot of snow on top, since i had cleaned off
    the car before going in the house for the nite (whatever snow happened
    after 8:30 was all that was on there), which is why i didn't even think
    twice about cleaning it off...until i was on the highway and i could
    see in my rear-view mirrow a slight snow shower following me.  then the
    guilt kicked in.  i usually clean off my entire car (maybe not to the
    extent shawn has, but it is clean) because i hate being behind a
    numbnut who has that peep hole in the front windshield or the mountain

    confess that without reading all the noise in here when I find I have

    I too, have no idea what the "Check Out Room" is for...
    

    The check out room was an expirement in living a minimalistic lifestyle. 
    The author of the note put all of his non-essential belongings into a
    room.  He then proceeded to check things out as he needed or desired
    them, including the log book he was using to record the frequency of
    each item's useage.  He was kind enough to reveal this plan to us so
    we, the ever helpful and understanding boxen could share in this life
    enriching exercise.  I believe the goal was to eventually cull his
    belongings to a set of article that were truly deemed essential and
    dispose of the rest.  The end result was that living in the relative
    clutter in which we all most likely have, was the preferred way of
    living.  If nothing else, it providing for the largest collective,
    virtual head scratching session I recall ever seeing in a single note.

 Actually, I've always had a tough time with directions until I made up
 my mind to follow them step by step. For years I avoided buying anything
 that was labeled "assembly required" because I knew I'd get started on 
 it and get so frustrated that I'd give up.  Until one day, I forced myself
 to follow the directions, step by step and arranging whatever it was I
 was building just the way it is in the picture.  I found it worked quite 
 well and to this day I have the utmost confidence in my ability to put
 together any assembly required item I buy (I just don't buy anymore of
 them).

 I'm kinda hoping our softball game gets rained out tonight.

    When I was at School, during cross country, which used to go past my
    house. I would slip inside with a couple of friends, watch MTV, and
    pig out on food. 
    We would then join the back, of the group. At the end of the lesson my
    instructors though we were superfit, because our pulses were never
    above 90. Everyone elses was averaging around 120.

    The part that always makes me laugh, though, is how they pop a Mentos,
    solve the problem, then pop another Mentos while someone watches and

    might be!

    In addition to Mentos candy having a detestable flavor and texture,
    Mentos ads are bizarre and have apparently inspired a group of people
    who, perhaps jokingly, seem to believe that some sort of cult activity
    is involved, and/or that the ads are frightening or some sort of
    attempted mind control.
    
    I don't see it myself, but there ya go.
    
    As for NECCO wafers (or as we call them, YUKKO wafers), they made
    my kid so sick once that we almost had to cancel our vacation.
    You don't want to know what those things look like when the engines
    have been put into reverse.  The hospital practically had to have
    the stuff analyzed to be sure it was indeed NECCO wafer debris.

    I confess I tried Mentos once.  I further confess that I pronounced
    them Men-toze, but I have since noticed that the ads call them
    Men-toss.  I believe women should toss them too.

    wafer debris :-) but I 'fess that I find NECCO wafers yummy, and while

    Yep, Sky Bar is one of the best, if not the best, candy bars that have
    been around for my entire ancient lifetime.  It is almost inconceivable
    that Sky Bar and NECCO wafers come from the same company. :-)

    that pour out so much of that wonderful processed sugar that you could
    burn your mouth and throat linings if you weren't careful. I loved
    them.
    
    Fizzies were fun, but bland.
    
    Necco wafers were and are hideous.
    
    I've never tried Mentos, but the ads are a bit frightening.
    
    I also hated those little candy buttons that came on sheets of paper
    and the paper always stuck to the bottom of the candy.  BBBBLLLEEEHHH

    Thanks to the Simpsons, Pixie sticks are no culture-specific mystery to
    me.  Bart gives one to Todd Flanders, who is forbidden sugar.  Todd
    becomes a laving rooney and beats up his kid brother.  See?   I told
    you I watch them over and over. <insane laughter>.

    Pixie Stix were great.  So were Pez.  Does anyone remember
    the "necklaces" of sweet and sour type wafers you bit off
    the string?  One necklace could last through an entire
    matinee......

    Candy cigarettes and SweetTarts, I hated. I liked chocolate cigarettes,
    though. Came in a clear red plastic holder. The cigarettes were wrapped
    in a white paper to look like real ones. SweetTarts were just a "Poor
    Man's Pixie Stix" to me.
    
    I remember the candy necklaces and bracelets. I also remember wearing
    them and having them melt and leave a sticky multicolored mess all over
    your shirt and/or chest when you sweated to much.
    
    I liked Rollos a lot. 
    
    I also really, really liked Butterfingers a lot. That is, until I found
    a (Do not form feed unless you have a strong stomach.)

    I've seen Mentos commercials here.  Have yet to laugh at one.
    Rumor has it around these here parts, Necco Wafers work at

Necco wafers are OK as long as you can find some way to get rid of the
green ones.

They ruined it when they started making the all chocolate rolls. Getting
a chocolate one in a mixed roll used to be a big deal.

sheesh, no one has mentioned the wax lips, tongues, and mustaches
that were around (when i was a kid anyway). at $.01 each they were
a fun bargain. wear 'em, then chew 'em.

my favorite candy bar? the wonderous (but scarce) Zero Bar. i love
those things. my wife got me a whole box at Christmas time. it was
my best present!

please, no jokes about my candy bar.

    When shopping for Halloween candy a few years back, I found
    a bag of wax lips and fangs.  Being the nostalgic sort, I bought
    them to hand out, thinking "kids probably hate these nowadays."
    They *LOVED* them.  They went like wildfire.  I brought the 
    remainder in to work the next day, thinking people could bring
    them home for their kids.  Hah!  Wax lips and fangs showed up 
    in meetings for the next month. :-) :-)

    Having grown up mostly in the 1960's, I despised disco during its
    "original run" in the 1970's.
    
    But now, hearing it in retrospect, seeing it in "historical
    perspective" as the next logical step based on pop cultural and
    musical trends in the early 1970's, and particularly in comparing
    it to the junk that subsequently littered the 1980's and even
    moreso today's airwaves... disco's not so bad.
    
    Yes, there's a cheap, superficial gloss to disco, but a closer
    listen reveals some interesting rhythmic and musical stuff going
    on at its roots.  Some of it gets pretty complex, actually.  Rhythm
    guitarists must've had a blast with this stuff (I'm thinking of
    stuff like "Play That Funky Music, White Boy", if that counts as
    disco).
    
    Even some of the "techno-rock", or whatever they called it, isn't
    all that bad from the 90's perspective.  I'd rather listen to
    "Funkytown" than most of what's on Jam'n 94.5 (a Boston station
    apparently favored by today's kids, that's usually blasting in
    the family chariot).
