Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing date, and suddenly
    	make it all seem worthwhile.
Well it's you, girl, and you should know it.
With each glance and every little movement
    	you show it.
Love is all around, no need to fake it.
You can (something la la la) why don't you take it.
You're gonna make it after all!

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played
songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us we had it made.
    	Those were the days.

And you knew whO YoU WERRRE Then
Goils were goils and men were men.
Mister, we could use a man like
    	Hoibert Hoover again.

    	Didn't need no welfare state.
    	Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great.

    Spiderman Spiderman
    Does whatever a spider can
    Spins a web any size
    Catches thieves just like flies
Look out! There goes the spider man

    Is he strong, listen bud
    He's got radioactive blood
Can he swing on a thread
    Take a look overhead
Hey there! There goes the spider man

    In the chill of night
At the scene of a crime
    Like a stream of light
    He arrives just in time

    Spiderman Spiderman
    Friendly neighborhood Spiderman
    Welcome friends, he's ignored
    Action is his reward
To him life is a great big hang up
    Wherever there's hang up
    You'll find the Spiderman!

Here's the story, of a lovely lady
Who was brings up three very lovely girls
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother
    the youngest one in curls.

Here's the story, of a man named Brady
Who was busy with three boys of his own
They were four men, living all together
    But they were all alone

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow
And they knew that it was much more than a hunch
That this group must somehow form a family
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch

The Brady Bunch, the Brady Bunch
That's the way we became the Brady Bunch

just sit right down and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a fateful trip
that started from this tropic port
    aboard this tiny ship
the skipper was a mighty sailing man
his mate was brave and sure
5 passengers set sail that day
    for a 3 hour tour
    a 3 hour tour

    the weather started getting rough
    the tiny ship was tossed
if not for the courage of the fearless crew
    the minnow would be lost
    the minnow would be lost

the ship set ground on the shore
    of this tiny desert isle
    with Gilligan, the skipper too,
    a millionaire and his wife,
    a movie star,
the professor and Mary-Ann |i believe this was added later in the
here on Gilligan's isle |series. the earlier version was sung
                                 ..."and the rest"...

Come listen to my story 'bout a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed
And then one day he was shootin at some food
When up thru the ground came a bubblin crude.

Oil that is. Black Gold. Texas Tea.

Well the first thing ya know ole Jed's a millionaire
Kin folk said "Jed, move away from here"
Said "Californy is the place ya oughta be"
So he loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.

Hills that is. Swimming pools. Movie stars.

Betcha didn't know that the original Star Trek series theme had
    lyrics!!

Let's see if I can remember them...

    <forget first line>
My love is wand'ring in star flight

I know he'll find in star covered reaches
Love, strange love a star-woman teaches

I know his journey ends never
His star trek will go on forever

But tell him as he wanders his starry seas
    Remember, remember me.

My all time favorite is the theme song to 'Route 66'. By Nelson Riddle.
And I wish I could find that piece. Dreams of an ol corvette, rag top,
a sleeping bag and a cardboard suitcase strapped to the luggage rack on
the trunk. And driving thru place of America that most dream of doing.

I always liked the Mary Tyler Moore theme song. Nice words and
      music.

One of my favorite TV characters was from the Beverly HillBillies.
I liked his character because of his obscurity, his name, and just
      his character.

He was Mildred Drysdale's father. For a trivia question, what was
      the name of his character?

The same actor played the grandfather in the movie, "The Parent
Trap." I wonder what his name was? I'm sure he's dead now. I
      liked him.

Hey, my daughter was just over a year old and was watching Lassie.
Lassie got lost and during the episode, my little gal fell asleep.
When she awoke, the show was over. Genna started crying and when
queried as to what was wrong, she told me that Lassie was lost. It
took a while to get her to accept that it was a tv show and not for
real and that they found Lassie later in teh episode while she was
    sleeping.

    Catching up here...

    re: "Star Trek"

Gene Roddenberry allegedly (as in an "alleged" crime) wrote those
lyrics, and it's true to character. Even in space, all he thinks
    about is getting women...

    re: "Happy Days"

I liked the opening better when they used Bill Haley's "Rock Around
the Clock" as the opening theme.

    re: "Beverly Hillbillies"

My wife says it's Daddy Farquhar played by Charlie Ruggles. I'll
fess up to not knowing much trivia about this show. Every time I
catch the opening theme in a rerun, I think about the Saturday Night
Live take-off they did with Arabs, complete with their own version
of the opening theme, but I can't remember the words.

    re: "Flipper" movie

What, another one? They did at least two feature films at the
time of the series. They were the first movies I remember seeing
    at a drive-in.

    re: "Love American Style"

It sure was a dumb show, because nothing ever "happened", it was
all a big tease. Worse yet, it was the direct lineal ancestor of
"The Love Boat" and "Fantasy Island".

    re: "Lassie"

When my wife was a kid, she was forbidden from watching Lassie,
because she could not get through an episode without crying. It
got so bad that she couldn't even listen to that pathetic whistling
theme at the beginning. Never mind the end, when the doggie waves
bye-bye by lifting his paw at you, <sob>.

Me, "Lassie" never bothered me. But "The Littlest Hobo" did. Don't
    make train sounds around me...

    Here's the "F-Troop theme; "F-Troop" is still on Nick-at-Nite
in the middle of the night. They even made up a promo where they
play the opening theme, with the words printed along the bottom
of the screen so you can sing along.

Incredibly, the series only used this great theme in the first
    of their two seasons.

"Mister Ed"'s closing theme was longer than the opening theme; Jack

Here's a couple of others, near the end I believe:

A horse is a horse, of course, of course
But this one will talk 'til his voice is hoarse
You've never heard of a talking horse?
Well, listen to this: "I am Mister Ed"

The funny thing is, for the "I am Mister Ed", they didn't use
the actual Mister Ed voice (Rocky Lane?), but the singer of the
song just dropped his voice down and did an impersonation of
a guy talking as a horse.

I'd mentioned that I'd had a crush on Patty Duke when I was a kid.
When the show ran on Nick at Nite for a while around 1990, I found
myself admiring the mother, argh. Same thing happened with June
Lockhart when "Lost in Space" was making the rounds in the late 1980's.

Ah, thanks. It's been so many years since I saw this, I forgot
the first line. I guess there weren't any other verses, then?
I thought I'd forgotten an entire verse...

I liked the show too, but after all these years, all I can remember
are all those sad parting endings. That must've been a real fun show
to work on week after week... maybe they had the dog do tricks between
takes to lighten things up a bit.

    >>	...the current trend to make

Yes, and you think they'd learn after countless floperoos.
I guess it's still easier making an inferior copy of something
old, than it is to be creative and come up with something new.
Plus, it's got a built-in audience of old-timers like me who
might go see it just out of curiosity.

My pick for The Worst Movie Ever Made is one of these, by the way:

At the beginning and end they'd have all the Harvey characters come

The end of the Civil war was near,
When quite accidentally
A hero who sneezed,
Abruptly seized retreat
And reversed it to victory.

His medal of honor pleased and thrilled
His proud little family group
But pinning it on some blood was spilled
And so it was planned he command F-Troop.

Where Indian (sic) fights
Were colorful sights
And nobody takes a lickin'
Where paleface and redskin (sic)
Both turn chicken.

When drilling and fighting get them down
They know their moral won't droop
As long as they all relax in town
Before they resume, with a bang and a boom

Do I! (I don't remember the theme song though. Sorry.)
I was about 4 years old, and I was sitting in my father's
favorite lounge chair, and I was pretending that it was
an octopus just like the one Diver Dan was fighting, so I
fought it too. I had a plastic serrated knife from my

One of my kids bought an "I Hate Barney" CD, containing ten or so
anti-Barney songs, performed by Freida Payne ("Band of Gold").
It was kind of strange at first hearing her distinctive voice
    singing these songs.

Too bad though, most of the songs are extremely mediocre. They
had a great opportunity to skewer Barney with some good satire
if they could've come up with it, but they squandered it.
