re: .bagpipes

This conversation reminds me of the dinner from hell I had a few weeks ago :

I took my sister in law, her husband and my wife out to dinner at a nice
seafood restaruant overlooking the inlet in Ft Pierce, FLA on the day after
St. Pat's day - sat down, ordered drinks and appetizers and out comes 4(!!!)
guys with bagpipes plus 1 with a big friggin' drum and they proceed to
'serenade' the dining room!! After much complaining (from just about everybody
in the room!) they finally left - only to return 1/2 hour later to do it again!
I can't understand WHAT was going through the mind of of the manager of that
place - We watched the front door during dinner and estimated that 75% of the
customers walking in, just turned around and walked out again.

Chambers dictionary says it's either. "Piper" is "a player on a pipe,
	esp. a bagpipe".

I was concerned - it looked as though mz deb had erred there for
a second. Now my world makes sense again.

Don't think that all n-million kinds of pipes sound like the Scottish
Pib Mhor (sp). Most other kinds of pipes actually play in tune, for one
    thing.
    My favourites:
Northumbrian pipes (blown by a bellows worked by the piper's elbow)
Irish Uillean pipes (ditto - also incorporating the "regulators" which
enable chordal changes to be played on the drones - if you've heard
Planxty this is the pipe they use)
Scottish Cauld Wind pipes - same as Northumbrian but different...

The German for bagpipe is Dudelsack - I kid you not !
