| As a Massachusetts Justice of the Peace I know that I can only marry
someone on a boat which is in Massachusetts territorial waters! The
captain would have to give me the coordinates (longitude and latitude)
of where we were during the ceremony to complete the marriage license.
(The license would get sent back to the town hall at which it was taken
out, regardless of where in Mass. the marriage ceremony takes place)
For foreign marriages, I suspect you need to get a license from that
local country. Requirements (such as waiting periods, etc.) will vary.
I am not quite sure what happens if you get married outside of any
country's territorial waters. Supposedly the captain can marry you,
but some countries might not accept either his authority, or that a
marriage outside their territorial limits is valid!
I beat the cruise lines have all the information you need. Give them a
call. They probably have done this lots of times...

| I don't have many details, but the cruise I was on in Jan. in the
Caribbean (Celebrity Cruises) had a wedding held while we were on
board. The wedding party sat behind us at dinner. I think the actual
wedding was held while we were in port in Barbados.
As .1 said, call the cruise lines or check on their web pages for info.

p.s. It was interesting to see everyone in tuxes and wedding garb, just
on the other side of the pool!
