871.0. "drawing disappears (doesn't print) Word7.0a?" by IROCZ::FAULDS () Mon Mar 31 1997 19:29

    WfW for Windows 95; Version 7.0a
    Windows NT 4.0; SP2

    Hello,

    I couldn't find a similar topic so here goes...

    Why can I not see (Print Preview) or print my drawings in my Word
    document?

    The drawings appear on my screen but then vanish at print time.

    This document has a troubled beginning (due to my ignorance). It began
    as a .dot (template) file.

    Today I read up a little on templates and created a new document (.doc)
    using the original (.dot) as its template.

    Voila!  :^(  the drawings still don't print...Ugh!

    I created all the drawings with the standard drawing toolbar in Word.
    All the drawings are inside a Frame (removing the frame didn't help).

    I cannot post the document to an open forum but I'd be happy to make it
    available to someone with th ability to figure this out.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    -Rob

871.1Time for a virus check...CGOOA::OWONGSKIWI in Canada (VAO)Mon Mar 31 1997 23:337
    If it was a word document but started off as a template at some point
    it may also have been munged by one of the Word macro viruses that are
    floating around.

    NPAD.A for example remains in some encrypted state.

Rob,

There is a switch hidden somewhere under Options (I think) that's called
something like "Print drawing objects." If this is off, then drawings
show on screen but not paper.

871.3It works!NPSS::xswxu.hpn.lkg.dec.com::fauldsRob FauldsTue Apr 08 1997 21:1220
re: .2

Pilar,

Bingo! That was it. I must have cleared this box
in the past.

I can now see my drawings in print preview and I presume
from the printer.

Also, to (Bill or Bob) Crosby to whom I spoke by phone...
Thanks for your willingness to help out. I did try to
send you the files on SINBAD but I couldn't reach that
node(?)

Anyway, it works!

Rob,

It's Gary, and CIMBAD, as opposed to CIMMOM, or...

Anyway, glad you're operational.
