862.0. "MSWORD/ACCESS DDE Problem" by CIMBAD::CROSBY () Fri Feb 07 1997 12:20

A while back we built a document set using the following components:

MSWord 6.0
MSACCESS
DDE.

The word doc was a set of chapters buillt in the DEC_V6 template that
included ms access queries to a database (msaccess also).

The links were built using dde and worked fine for a while....

Over time we have "cloned" the documents, with some interesting results.

Though the queries still work just fine, there appear to be "extra" queries that
display unwanted results on occaision. When we look at the MSWord field
codes, there is no query associated with the output that gets displayed.

In essence, the queries that we want are there, the problem is that we're getting
more answers that we have questions, almost as if the document is "remembering"
older queries that have since been deleted.

In classic desktop computing fashion, we have no audit trail to help isolate
the problem.

Does this problem sound familiar?

Can anybody help?

Thanks,

Gary Crosby
