I'm not sure if the video of "give me all your love tonight"
is the same as the one they released for MTV as the one described
in reply one but the one that is being showed on MTV was definetly
shot at two shows at the Centrum in Worcester, Ma and yes I'm in
it i had second row left center and I have a video copy and can
point out myself and friends a total of two times . Well that's
    show biz i guess

The METALLICA $19.98 Home Vid "Cliff 'em all" is a must.
The production may not be A1 but the feeling is all there. I wish
someone would review it here because I can't find the words to describe
    it.

    Justice for all,

Dokken - home video I dunno how much $$

It's funny, and the music video is first rate...

    It's got:

    Breakin' The Chains
    Into The Fire
    Alone Again
    Just Got Lucky
    The Hunter
    It's Not Love
    In My Dreams

You gotta see the funny that Lynch (guitar hero extraordinair!)
does with his Kramer gig-bag. "The Guitar Buddy Throw-and Go Heavy Metal
    Guitar Trainer" (complete with whammy-neck).

    It's killer.

    I think thats it.

Does anyone know of any videos featuring Free .I have seen film
of them doing "stealer" on the tv but have never found out where
    this has come from.
Also are there any Lynyrd skynyrd videos about. The concert at Knebworth
was filmed but I have never seen the end result.
    re.4
fully agree about "cliff em all" shame the production was not a
bit better in places (peoples heads in the way etc..)still well
    worth the money.

I don't know if this video is available on tape however on LASERDISC
it can only be rivalled by Iron Maiden's Life After Death video.
The energy portrayed by the group is hypnotizing. I couldn't leave
the screen until it was all over. I'm still waiting for my copy
    of the video.
12.9The movie HEAVY METAL26824::JAINCarefull with that axe Eugene!Fri May 13 1988 13:126
I thought the movie HEAVY METAL was done extremely well. All the
music seemed to fit the scenes. The soundtrack itself is an excellent
collection of metal tunes. Does anyone know where I can pick up
a copy of this movie, in stereo? I've got a mono copy made from
HBO about 5 years ago. I have the soundtrack on record but combining
it with the video would be impossible. It just isn't THE WALL.
12.10Van Halen - Live Without A Net - *****33864::JERRYWHITEMon May 16 1988 02:5517
I rented "Van Halen - Live Without A Net" this weekend and played
it about 4 times. It's got more than just good music, it's fun
to watch because these guys really have a good time together. It's
got a "fair" drum solo from Alex, more jungle sounds than flash.
Michael Anthony does a bass solo with loads and gobs of effects,
it hardly even sounds like a bass ! And then there's Eddie....the
rest must be heard, and seen ! Hagar does justice and then some
to all of the pre-Van Hagar tunes like Panama, Ain't Talkin' Bout
Love, etc. They also do a LOT of material off of 5150, naturally,
and even do some Hagar tunes (I can't Drive 55). They close the
show with Rock and Roll of Led Zeppelin fame, and it cooks !!
Being a big Van Halen fan and NOT a David Lee Roth fan (Hear 'Em
And Puke !) I thoroughly enjoyed it and whether you're a musician
or not I think you'll like it !!!

12.11Dio ... live at the SpectrumTIGER::SLABOUNTYA Momentary Lapse of ReasonMon May 16 1988 05:4427

If you haven't seen 'Dio - live at the Spectrum (PA)' then
do so. If you like your music hard and heavy then this is
        definitely for you.

Dio is his usual incredible-sounding self here, backed by
Jimmy Bain on bass, Vinnie Appice on drums, and the one-of
-a-kind Viv Campbell wielding the 'axe'.

He does all the stuff you'd expect him to ...

Stand Up and Shout, Rainbow in the Dark, Heaven and Hell (from
the Black Sabbath days), Egypt(Chains), The Mob Rules (another
Black Sabbath song), Don't Talk to Strangers, The Last in Line,
        Mystery, and a few more.

Viv breaks up 'Heaven and Hell' with an incredibly performed
solo, complete with lighted guitar. And Vinnie does likewise
        on the drums.

He also has a great laser show, the laser spelling 'DIO' on
        the stage behind him.

An honorable mention to Claude Schnell for his keyboard offer-
        ings.

    Well HeadBangers...

I picked up a copy of Priest's video compilation. I thought it
was cool. It has video tracks for eight songs from 1979 to Turbo.
It's got a real neat track for Turbo Lover, and the stereo quality
    is amazingly good.

Now, for all you Harley Lovers, I got some bad news for ya; Each
JP track is broken by the band riding by on their bikes. Funny
thing though, unless Harley has come out with DOHC in-line four,
they were all riding Honda's and Kawasaki's ! I guess Priest decided
they'd make their mark with rice ! Agagagagagagaaaaa

12.42What makes a good HM video.?RDGENG::GREIDMon Oct 24 1988 19:488
What makes a good heavy metal/rock video in your eyes, is it loads
of semi clad females (or for you ladies, the semi clad band members).
Lots of live concert footage, lots of just the band in a studio.
A concept or storyline or will the music do on it's own without
    any distractions.?

Well, what I like to see is some females (or one really
        cute one like:

        Kix - "Cold Blood"(?)
        Britney Fox - "Girlschool"
Femme Fatale - "Waiting for the Big One"

that is featured throughout the video). Scantily clad is
OK, but I'd rather see on ewith something nice looking on.

I also like 'story-line' videos that have concert footage
        included.

For me, I'd rather see concert footage of the bands rather than some
chicks butt. Not that I don't like to look at those of anything, but
most of the time it doesn't relate to the music anyway and is therefore
just a cheap shot to get your blood running faster.

Sometimes I find that in a video if you only get to see a few shots
of the band live it wets your appetite and you end up willing the
video to get onto the next live shot. From what i have seen of Judas
Priest's videos they seem to do pretty well on storyline and live
footage action, now they aren't a band i go ape about yet but i do
like to watch their videos. Iron Maiden seem to be about the best
at different ideas, but i think due to the strength of the music
there is plenty of room for manouevre. You certainly know what your
gonna get in a Kiss video anyhow.

Alot of good footage of the band, from all perspectives and angles
(I think the Bon Jovi video Bad Medicine has alot of good perspectives,
because the fans in the audience have the cameras (I know, I know,
I like the song too, so hang me)).

The women add alot of nice dimensions. *sigh*

I like to have the camera in one place for afew seconds, anyway.
I don't like to see a blur on the screen!

I dunno. Lotsa stuff. The most important thing in a good HM video
is obvious. A good tune!!! (Imagine if Stairway to Heaven was
a video too when it first came out? It would've been a BILLION
    seller!)

Shots of the band, so you can get a feel of what they
may be doing when and if they come around to your
    	town....

Depending on the song, band, etc. A story line is
good. Off the top of my head, I can think of Poison's
Fallen Angel video. The daughter wants to go to
CA to "make it big"....and she sees it's not all
glitz and glamour, etc. etc. etc.

    	You get the idea.

I have tried for about a year now to find Motley Crue's video
in the stores round-about Westboro, without luck.
I guess there's a bunch of old footage, including some with
Vince and Nikki in a garage or something, with their home-made
stage, as kids trying to crank out some tune.
sounds hilarious to me...and I love their old stuff!

Everyone stop ragging on the Metallica vid! It wasn't meant to be
good. Most of the footage is from fans who bootlegged the show. The
good parts were done professionally, obviously.
The Jane's Addiction vid is cool. Really funny and quite an odd
    experience.
The Crue video is really good. It's funny, put together well, and
    a lot of good music.
Another cool one is Hear N Aid. That was the metal version of We
Are the World. There's a lot of interviews with a lot of metal dudes,
and they show all the musicians putting together their parts. Vocals,
LOTS of guitar solos (Y.J. Malmsteen, George Lynch, Vivian Campbell,
etc...) and more. We're Stars is the song, and it's good.

The Hard 'N Heavy video is made by a British firm I believe.

There are two volumes out at the moment and is packed with interviews

I never get tired of the early Iron Maiden footage I have. It's weird
though...the Eddy seems to be from the first album (the ones on stage

I think that video tapes of bands (concerts, not collections of MTV
reject videos) are great. It gives people a chance to watch live
music, even if they live in an area where they can't actually go see
them, or can't afford the incredibly inflated cost of actually
attending a concert by a major artist these days.

You guys in the New England area really have it good as far as the
selection and frequency of good concerts there. Denver has good ones
too, I'm not complaining for myself, but there are a lot of areas where
they don't get a good show but maybe a couple of times a year. The
    videos really fill in there!

Hello,

I've seen yesterday evening on MTV's Headbanger Ball the new "Smoke on the
water" video clip dedicated to Armenia help after last year's earthquake.
The clip is heavy metal group oriented and it features many great stars like:
Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, Richie Blackmore, Brian May, Roger Taylor,
David Gilmour and others which I have not recognized.
The clip is ok and "Smoke on the water" is very good even compared to the
original. Don't miss it.

I thought I would list a couple of the new videos I got in the
past week..... I didn't see any other note about either of them....

Megadeth - Rust (or Rusted I don't remember which -Seth) in Pieces.

	It contains the following videos...

"Holy Wars... The Punishment Due." *
	"Hanger 18" *
	"Peace Sells"
	"Anarchy in the U.K." *
	"In my Darkest Hour."
	"Wake up Dead."
and a few different parts of interviews (It is great when both of the
Dave's cut down a few of the people in Decline of Western Civilization
II, I loved the skunk part)..

	* uncensored..
(they are not necessarily in that order, I can't remember the order
	for sure.)

I think it is a video definitely worth buying....

Another video that I got within the last week is a new tape
	from Extreme..

	Extreme - Photograffiti

It is a collection of all of Extreme's videos to date.

	"Decadent Dance" *
	"Get the Funk Out"
	"More than Words"
	"Little Girls"
	"Mutha..."
	"Kid Ego"
	(am I missing any?)
	and interviews with the band....

	* uncensored.

once again I think this Video is definitely worth buying (otherwise

Rush, A Show of Hands, live concert video is cool and it's longer
than the CD or the tape. It has more songs on it than CD or cassette.

Black Sabbath, Never Say Die, live concert video is classic.

Ozzy Osbourne, Bark At The Moon, live concert video is cool. It's an
    import video from Japan.

The Ultimate Revenge video features Slayer, Exodus and Venom. It's
pretty cool. It's also pretty old live concert footage but production
    is great.

Roger Waters, Radio K.A.O.S. video is cool.

Pink Floyd, Live at Pompeii, is cool. It shows some of the recording
