For those of you who are wondering who Pat Metheny is, and why we're so
doubtful of this info - Pat Metheny is a jazz guitarist from the Boston
area. He has recorded numerous albums, mostly with the Pat Metheny Group (with
Lyle Mays on keyboards), but also solo efforts, soundtracks, and with other
jazz musicians (Ornette Coleman, for example).

While Pat may stray somewhat into the jazz-rock category, he is definitely
not the kind of guy who's gonna release a speed-metal album.....

320.7I wonder what his defination of "speed metal" is?CSC32::G_HOUSEGreg HouseMon Mar 05 1990 19:244
No WAY!?! This guy typically plays *very* mellow jazz/fusion kind of
stuff. Well, it *would* be a big change for him...

I saw a video of his yesterday morning when I was channel surfing while
eating my oatmeal and drinking coffee. It might have been an older
one, he was playing that Synclavier guitar interface thing. The guy
definately has some cool chops, but the style of music he generally
    plays is pretty bland.

I heard on the radio that Pat's on Jay Leno tonight (as is Mary's
Danish, but this isn't the right conference to discuss them).
