    Yup, I got MTV - costs my old man a fortune, via Satalite, but 
    WTF, it has HeadBangers Ball and Remote Control - what else do 
    I need ? 8^).  'sides, I don't have to pay for it, he does 8*)

    	I heard "Hips 'n' Lips" and judging from this song I think
    	they're an Extreme rip-off.
    
    	The lead singer looks/sounds like Gary, and the overall sound
    	is Extreme-like.

    Extreme-like?  I've only heard the song on the radio, but the LAST
    thing I would say is they sound like Extreme!  The first time I heard
    Extreme (Kid Ego), I couldn't tell if it was a new Ozzy song or if it
    was a new Ratt song!!  Hips N Lips sounds neither like Ozzy or Ratt to
    moi.

I saw (most of) the video currently making the rounds on MTV this weekend and 
thought it had a good sound.  Anyone caught anything else on the album to tell
if it's just a good song or if the album's good?

re: rip-off of Extreme

In my mind, you can't "rip off" someone that hasn't gained much popularity
yet.  Face it, Extreme is still a local Boston band.  From what I've seen, 
that's the only place people really know about them.  Before all you Extreme
fans jump my case, note that I did NOT make any qualitative statement about 
their work (which I've actually heard very little of), I'm just saying that
they have yet to receive the nationwide (worldwide) success that some of the 
comments in here seem to imply that they have.

Now for the qualitative stuff, the little Extreme material I've heard seems 
like 1800 other generic rock bands, certainly nothing to "rip off".

    Everytime I hear the song "Hips and Lips" I think
    "na na na HEY KID EGO.. OH" I think it sounds a LOT like Extreme.

    I've heard two cuts off of the 'Funk-o-metal Carpet Ride' album,
    and they are both killer.
          
    As the album's not realeased over, I don't s'pose I'll ever hear
    the rest, but from what I've heard of them and Extreme, I prefer
    The Electric boys.

    I've got to agree with you Mike, I saw the vid for Hips and Lips
    on HBB last night and it reminded me alot of Extreme's music.

    Yeah, right!!	
    	Ya know, with all the tunes created by the legions of bands,
    there is a SLIGHT possibility that one band could make a song
    that sounds a lot like another band's song, Buck, regardless
    of whether you like the other band or not.
    	Kix' latest album DID have a lot of riffs remarkably like
    other bands (namely AC/DC and The Cult), and I wasn't poking
    at them, it was true. 
    	If a song reminds me of another song, how can you say it doesn't?

    	and I'm not the only one who thinks so (and I don't like Extreme
    enough to pay the 4.99 "Nice Price" for their album either)

It's mainstream, but it seems more interesting then most (to me right now).
Could be worse...could be another Warrent, who not only has a lotta hype, 
but pretty much nausiating songs as well.

    I saw these characters support "Thunder" and to be honest,they were not
    very good.The hips 'n' lips single was ok but quite unoriginal.I

    it's hard for me to make up my mind about this band(Opps,there I 
    go again,GAZ.);-)x100000000.
    
    You gotta like the"psychedelic funk metal"kindda stuff,to like them.
    Hope for a little more Heavier sound this time around.
