732.0. "MetalJam '89 Band Reviews" by HAZEL::STARR (We're beating plowshares into swords...) Sat Nov 04 1989 05:49

Rather than posting stuff in the Party note, I thought it might be nice for
people to enter band reviews from the latest metal party here, so we can save
it for posterity (or until one of us mods decides to delete it!) 8^)

732.14what a night!HAZEL::STARRWe're beating plowshares into swords...Mon Nov 06 1989 14:3138
First of all, some thanx:

To CJ - thanx for setting up the whole party - it went off great!!!

To Coop - thanx for the use of the rack and (especially) the wireless!

To everyone - for showing up and making it a great time

To my fellow Donutz - it was the b*lls! You guys are great!!!!

Automaddox - a little rough, but not bad at all. They would probably go over
real well in a dance club, as opposed to a 'metal' party.

Chain Reaction - my first time seeing you guys (!!!). Sounded great! The
Metallica tune was killer! How did it go with the agent that
                 was there to see you?

Mischief - Definitely the big suprise of the night! For their first gig, they
did really well! Good stage prescence, nice sound, great songs!
You can tell they really worked hard at rehearsing, and it paid off!

Toxic Donutz - well, I can't really review my own band, but I had a blast!!!

Travelling Crunchberries - What can ya say? We almost take for granted how
talented these guys are! The set was pretty hot -
awesome song selection! Only complaint - it was
damn (uncomfortably) loud! "Spreading the Disease"
                           was a brillaint selection!!!!

Overall, I couldn't believe the quality of the bands involved. For any of you
who didn't make it, you missed some great tunes and some great times!

alan

P.S. After a 2 hour ride home, I counldn't just go right to sleep. So I
thought I'd start this note and save me from moving them all later.
     Simple? 8^)

After hearing the reviews, I only wish I was there.

What are some of the song lists? It sounds like there were some killer
    jams going on.

Did anyone tape it? If they did, is it available, and is it good?

Agagagagaga ! "...Egos in one room..."

    I'm roooling !

I thought all the bands were awesome, although I only saw some of
CR's set. And yes, Mischief was a big surprise.

(DYHIW... Young folks come and do that when you've been working
     long and hard ? ;^)

Toxic Donuts were hot. How'd ya know I liked old Ramones tunes?
Alan, you rocked dude. Awesome sound...even for a Fender ;^) !
and BK, if ya wanna learn to pose, come to the master... Don't try
those fad make up kits and subliminal mind-altering 7-Ups ! ;^)

Gee, I didn't think we (the Crunchberries) or I was that loud...
Jerry and I have been telling you guys that we played loud...
I guess it's affected my sense of "loud and not-loud")

jc (Who sez, ya wanna hear LOUD ? ;^)

732.23ASAHI::COOPERMon Nov 06 1989 20:3919

    Spreading The Disease Queensryche
You've Got Another Thing Comin' Priest
    Spirit Of The Radio Rush
    Big City Nights Scorpians

    Temples Of Syrynx Rush

    And we encored with:

    Crazy Train Ozzy
    Rock N Roll Led Zeppelin

We didn't do too bad considering we got two whole hours of rehearsal
    time... ;^)

I just want to thank everyone for their efforts on Friday. All
went as smoothly as possible. Special thanks to Joe Minville,
and Guy Novello for doing sound, and taping the gig, to Chris
Vavruska for helping set up the PA, to Auto-Maddox, Chain Reaction,
Mischief, Toxic Donutz, and the Crunchberries, everyone sounded
wonderful considering the circumstances (Auto-Maddox and Mischief's
first time playing out, and the Crunchberries only getting to practice
    once with a full band).

I thought the gig was *HOT*! Congratulations everyone!!!

The costumes were cool!! Sister Mary.. and Father William! Great!!

Unfortunately some of the tee shirts disappeared. If I can get
someone to pick up some more tee's and distribute them, I will
make another order. (I think they have a dozen minimum, so anyone
interested in more tee's.. contact me through mail, I'll make the
order, but someone will have to collect the money, and distribute
    them, any willing souls?) :-)

Anyone interested in a CHRISTMAS BASH? :-) I can start planning
now! :-) (all ages show of course)

I am now living in South Carolina, so anyone can reach me through
this account, just put "Cindi" in the subject of the note.

Once again, thanks everyone, you made friday night incredible!!!

732.25Official Video Info.ENTERT::NOVELLOTue Nov 07 1989 12:1824
        Hi,

I have viewed the video tape, and it came out OK. Although
I have external speakers, so I don't know how it'll sound
	through little TV speakers.

I will make copies. There is about 4 hours of footage,
so I can put it on one tape in 4 hour mode, or on two
tapes in 2 hour mode, which will look better. I also
suggest you don't buy those 3 for $9.99 tapes. Spend an
extra $ and get a better quality tape.

I work at MRO2 in Marlboro, and live in Framingham.
I can meet you either *outside* the building, or at my
house. I can also purchase a tape for you and mail it if
you live too far away (not inter-office mail).

Disclaimer. I just stuck the camera at the back of the room
and used a shotgun mic for the sound, so don't expect an MTV
style video. On occasion, tall dudes like Buck got their heads
	in the way ;-).
