389.0. "Posters/patches/pins/T-shirts" by ZL1::WILLIAMS () Thu Dec 08 1988 14:33

I was just wondering what some of you adorn the ole booming area
with? I've got an itch for heavy metal promotional posters but
am always having trouble finding enough. Right now I have two AC/DC
promo's and an Ozzy promo and a fake (?) Guns & Roses U.K. promo
poster. On top of that, I have a huge 'Wall' poster and an old
Floyd Animals/Dark Side era poster. BUT I NEED MORE!! AAARRGH!

For anyone in Colorado or visiting here is one of the best poster
shops you will EVER see. I looked every where for a Guns & Roses
poster and these guys had SIX DIFFERENT ones!! They also have a
great selection of the mega-huge sized posters. Their store in
Denver is supposed to be enormous to the one in CO Springs and I
was in heaven in the one in the springs!! I ran out of money stocking
up on some classics (couldn't list them all above) but plan on heading
    back ASAP.  -->

Hey Dog, that's the place! I was stumbling around town last Monday
evening and kind of bumped into it. Man have they got some awesome
stuff! I don't recall seeing that poster - I just grabbed what
my eyes could see and what my wallet could handle at the time and
boogied on out before I went to the Visa. I'll be heading back
down there this weekend if you don't make it before then and I'll
    scope it out for ya.

Yeah, I know where that place is. I'll have to check 'em out!
I need a poster to put in my office, it's kinda drab.

I'd like a poster of Joe Satriani (my guitar hero), but the only
one I've seen, I didn't like. It has him kind of pointing his guitar
into the camera sort of leaning over. Are other posters of him
    available?

389.6Sure would like to see the one in Denver...ZL1::WILLIAMSThu Dec 08 1988 17:467
The guy running it at the time I stopped in seemed a little loose
so BE CAREFUL! HA! But he said the store in Denver is a lot better.
I'm dying to get up there and check it out. This place even had
some body building posters I had been looking for for my gym. You
don't see them too often in poster stores.

I have one Of Satch.. I got it out of Git for the Prac Musician.

It's pretty cool...he's standing there in all black with a white
git..kinda slung over his right shoulder. Dimensions are 1'w x

Man, I knew I shouldn't have put the ".. loose" comment in there
the way you guys (and gals) go bonkers in these notes. Ya, the
guy seemed a little queer but luckily there was a counter he stayed
behind and THE POSTERS WERE GREAT!!

389.12My legacyCSC32::G_HOUSERevolution callingThu Dec 08 1988 18:2720
Ok, this calls for a STORY...!

The last place I worked was a rather strict environment, nice shirts,
ties, slacks everyday. My office was defined by a series of
bookshelves and was in the corner of a much larger room. Also in my
corner was a small closet, the door of which opened outward.

I was viewed as a bit of a strangoid there anyway, but one day I
brought in a poster of Van Halen (the same one Jesse is looking
for...like the back cover of Women and Children First) and hung it on
the inside of that closet door.

When things got really frustrating around there, I'd open up the closet
door exposing Dave, Eddie and the boys to the world.

I left it there when I moved. When I last talked to someone working
there (well over a year later), the poster was still there! Cracks me
up, 'cause the management there were real strict. ;^)

                party . . .

I decorated my room with Hit Parader about 3
                years ago. i.e. it's covered with BJ/Ratt/Crue
etc. If someone wants to donate some good
                pictures maybe . . . I don't buy magazines I

Axel and Izzy are the original members, and no, they haven't been
around for 12 years. I have a televised interview with Slash and
Axel, and Axel said that he was travelling the states for seven
years to look for a place to start working on a band - then he met
Izzy. They then started working on material ("Anything Goes" was
    one of their original(old) songs).

Maybe Axel had the name "Guns 'n Roses" figured out a long time
ago, but he was also in LA Guns for a time too, so he must have
started real young to be around in GnR for 12 years!!

Yesterday I was in pickin' up some groceries (beer, pretzels) and
stopped to flip through some mags when I noticed one entitled 'LIVE
METAL!' Wow! It turned out to be an "Ashley poster series" poster
magazine. All it has in it are TEN color posters! The one I bought
had a posters of Slash, Axl, Metallica, Anthrax, Cinderella, Bullet
Boys, Ratt, Poison, and Bon Jovi (I can't figure out how they mixed
him up with the rest but...). Inside they have a lot of back issue
ones you can order. They're all like $4 or so. Not only do they
have LIVE METAL posters but also METAL, VINTAGE METAL, and (of course)
SWIMSUITS! Apparently they're put out by a group of dudes who produce
a magazine entitled "BLAST!" I had never heard of it but am now

Where's the best place to get patches and pins?

"Music and ..." at the Lincoln Mall (RI) has some, as do
most other music stores. "Wild Child" in Milford (MA)
seems to have a good selection also.

I wanna get Metallica's "Metal up your *ss" back patch for
my old denim jacket (dad got me a new one for my birthday
so I'm gonna go "all-out" with the old one. I still have
an Iron Maiden "shoulder patch" that isn't on yet).

    	Thanks for any info.

Have you been through the Maynard Smoke Shop? It's a little
tiny place but he's got tons 'o HM type stuff in there from patches
to pins to tees. Plus if he doesn't have it, he'll order it for
     ya.

Shawn, there is place called Gensner Legion of Metal that you can
send away for. Anything from patches, buttons, posters, concert
shirts, earings, chains, rings and just about anything else. The
place is out of New Jersey. I lost my last issue and I'll try and
    dig up an old one....

Newbury Comics, in the Mass. area usually has some cool posters.
They keep a good selection of giant posters on hand, too. 4' x 5'.

I just got one that was the Cult's Sonic Temple cover in the giant
size. I also have the Cult's Wild Flower EP in giant size, as well as
the inside picture of Sonic Temple. I've got a small tour poster from
the Love tour. Plus many, many more...

Try Newbury Comics (Framingham, Harvard Square, Burlington, MA). They
usually have a lot of stuff like that.

Speaking of stuff like that, I have been looking for an iron cross of
some sort for a long time now. Ring, necklace, bolo tie, belt, etc...
I have not had good luck, however. If you know anyplace, let me know.
    Thanx.

389.43Poster swap ?CASEE::LALLIDidier - BCE Valbonne - DTN 828.5423Fri Oct 20 1989 08:3837
Buying magazines allows you to have a large amount of posters every month.
But I either don't like them or don't have anymore places to stick them.

So my idea is that I may swap them with people having the same problem.

Of course if nobody has anything to swap I'll give them away.

What do you think of this idea ?

Right now I have

Size is 4xA4 magazine size (may be A2 but I'm not sure)

- Testament (a good group pisture)
	Overkill (group picture)
	Tesla "
	Exodus (funny group faces)

It's out of Metal Hammer (French Version)

- Mathias Jabs (scorpions) faces
	2 guys from Trust
+ 1 guy from Anthrax (the one with the little beard)
fooling in front of a mixage table (during Antisocial I guess)

It's from Hard Rock Magazine (another French magazine)

Any body interrested

Didier

PS : I'm looking for anything from RUSH (I can't find anything here), or LED ZEP
or TRIUMPH, or AEROSMITH or ... anything :-)

I don't know if anyone can help on this one but here goes... I've been
collecting guitar picks for years from diffrent places and people,
concerts and from the bands themselves when I use to work local stage
crew in Munich, Germany... if anyone has any laying around they want to
get rid of please get in touch... Iwould love to get some new editions
to the collection (around 65 picks I've gotten so far) and I am willing
to give up some coin for some.... thanks.

Great to see that I am not one of the only ones to collect guitar
picks from bands. It does help out alot in your collection by working
stagehand for shows though.... I haven't nearly colllected as many as
you but I am on the increase lately (I probably have around 40 various
picks). I also collect various backstage passes, and we still
haven't gotten to the free T's they give at the end of the night.

Just thinking but maybe to help out your backstage pass collection
you could write the record company and ask for any old ones laying
around if they can't help maybe they can tell you who would deal in
them or where to obtain the passes. if you want I think I have an Tina
Turner pass from her "private Dancer " tour, she play four diffrent
times in Munich, so I belive I have an extra . let me check to be sure
but if I do you can have it if you want it...
