26.0. "Way Underground" by ATEAM::BUTKUS (TASTE JUST LIKE CHICKEN!) Tue May 10 1988 17:07

how about some talk on artist's that aren't in the mainstream
    such as MADAM X,WARRIOR,SWORD,MAMA'S BOYS.
you get the picture by the way the above mentioned gruops
    except warrior are quite good.

think of the most unheard of groups and tell
              if should be left unheard.

Has anyone out in "Noterland" ever heard of a band called Stone
Fury? I got turned on to a tape of theirs a few years back and
it's about shot ! If anyone does have any of their work please
check out who the lead singer is. His voice sounds A LOT like
the guy singing for Kingdom Come.

    	Hey,
You'se guyse ever hear of a band called Riot? I used to date
a girl whose cousin was in the band. They had a couple albums out,
with this rat-looking character on the covers. I believe they were
New York based, and have since broken up.

    Well?

Great new English band emerging ***LAWNMOWER DETH***. The music
is real kick-grass rock'n'roll, I have the Mowdeer demo *buy or
die* and their debut album should be out soon.

    Keep off the Grass,

Well, I have a question that only someone from the UK could
answer... What ever happened to a band called "The Freshies" ?

Man, they were great ! They had a song called "Wrap Up The Rockets"
    that was bitchin' !

    Anyone ?

I don't remember ever hearing of the Freshies - but I'll put
out a few feelers and come back to ya if anything comes up.

Watch out for the demo from the Amazing Screaming Willies called
Village Idiots. It's definately funcore but oh so disgusting lyrics.
Songs include Kev's got Clap, Quasimodo was our dad, Sing a song
    of intercourse.

There is fantastic new British band from Cumbria called Pendemia.
They've just released a demo with a decent studio type sound. It's
very professional and considering they've only been together for
about 18 months they sound very good. The music is Sabbatist,
technical speed, lyrical content is good too, none of this bullshit
    satanic stuff.
Check 'em out if you can. I'll give a mailing address as soon
    as I have it.

compilation of early N.W.O.B.H.M. The bands included
    	Toad the Wet Sprocket
    	Ethel the Frog
    	Praying Mantis
    	E.F. Band
    	Sledgehammer

I saw the ef band at "the agincourt" camberley,uk in 78,they were
a great band. When they finished I got talking with the band, the
guitarist and bass player were both swedish, the drummer whose name
was dave dufort is the brother of girlschools' drummer. It was a
shame they didnt get the recognition they deserved, their first album
was supposed to be very good.
sledgehammer had a great number called "sledgehammer" which at the
time was reguarly played in most of the metal clubs around.
I did read in "kerrang" that the band were getting back together.

26.18MADAM X....anyone else heard of them?BTO::PORTERCWed Nov 30 1988 11:2319

    		re::26.0

    				yeah,i heard of MADAM X, they're out
of Cleveland area i think, they have a real seductive
babe that sings and plays lead and has a tongue much
like that of Gene Simmons, she likes to let everyone
see it and thats not all she likes to show off, she
wears THE most skippy outfits that i've ever seen.
overall, they're a pretty decent band but probably
will never make the big time (could be wrong) at
least one other person has heard of them besides me,
                anymore??????
also, they're drummer has the most
outrageous set of drums i've ever seen, looks like it
was assembled from spar sewer parts, you've got to
see this set to appreciate it, quite the masterpiece!

word of advice don't ever see the band Eutopia, they play Narcissus all
the time and I think the singer is a total Gary Cherone Clone. Moves ,
    voice etc. No originality.

Yeah, the Dead Milkmen had a semi-successful single a while
ago called "Punk Rock Girl" that was a riot.
By core do you mean hardcore? It's hard for me to imagine
those guys being hardcore...more along the lines of Dead Kennedys,
or maybe a little like the Pixies, but then again, I'm judging
    by that one song.

26.24Dead MilkmenCSC32::G_HOUSEI got 'happy feet'!Tue Jan 23 1990 22:188
Yeah, I've heard a couple of their albums and wouldn't consider them
hardcore at all. They're pretty funny, as they don't take themselves
seriously, but musically it's pretty cheezy stuff (which is done
    intentionally in humor).

They're kinda fun to listen to every once in awhile.

    DEATH!!...... AND INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES! I remember that album! My housemate in college had that
album.... What was on the cover? It was some weird lookin' dude
holding a sign if I rememember right???

He had a Zoetrope album too. Great stuff. That's the only time I ever
heard it. I wish I taped it off him when I had the chance. I believe
    it's pronounce "Eee-trope".

BTW, I looked up Zoetrope, and you know what it means? It some sort of
old cinemascope... early motion picture viewer. I think the kind where
there's a drum with pictures on the side and you spin it around and
view it through a cutout hole.

Wow dude, you keep bringing up these bands that it seems only *I've*
    heard of!

I have two of their albums, "Helstar" and "Nosferatu". "Helstar" is
a little better than the other I think.

I thought there was a note for them in this conference somewhere...

    Yo,
Anybody heard of "Mr. Bungle" It's Mike Patton's (Faith No More)
other band. If you haven't heard them yet I strongly recommend it to
anyone who is into the Bizarre and strange. Kinda similar to JGwar but
tons better and no goofy masks. A definite must for anyone that is
    into the underground scene.
