1091.0. "Shadow Gallery" by POWDML::BUCKLEY (give em the boot!) Tue Aug 22 1995 11:25

    Fans of Dream Theater should check out a new band on the scene called
    Shadow Gallery. Their album is called "Carved in Stone", and is out
    on the Magna Carta label.

    Check out the following, which is cross-posted from the Internet:

1091.2hmm, sounds like I need to go to Newbury!SUBSYS::MSOUCYWed Aug 23 1995 09:548

    Now you guys are getting me going to Newbury Comics soon to scope out
    these CD's (if I can find 'em). I was thinking of grabbing annihilator
    and/or Forbidden too while there! Hmm, sort of a cross between DT and
    QR eh? What about Marillion influences?

1091.3Many excellent CDs in progressive heavy rockTPLAB::VLASIUSorin Vlasiu - Brussels, BelgiumFri Aug 25 1995 06:3721
Re. Mike

Forbidden's "Twisted into form" is a very fine "progressive" thrash album.
The current Slayer drummer (Paul Bostaph) was still with Forbidden.
Their latest album which includes King Crimson's "21st century schizoid man"
has also received good critics (but i still like the most TiF).

Titan Force's first album (same name) is also in the same vein as QR and DT and
was excellent. Also Crimson Glory (Transcendence especially) was very QR.
Not to forget Last Crack which released two excellent albums, "Sinister
funkhouse #17" and "Burning time". Difficult to position this band.

Last but not least, in '71 or '72 Uriah Heep released "Salisbury" which was
one of their most progressive work. Salisbury itself lasts 15 mins and uses
also a classical orchestration (brass). A great album. All their 6 first
studio albums (all excellent) represent very well early progressive heavy rock.
Their very latest ('95) "Sea of Light" is also excellent.

I also like old Marillion and also "Season's End" in their new formula.

    I went looking for them last night, couldn't find SG, no Forbidden and
    they didn't have Annihilator at the Newbury Comics in Salem, NH! So I
    picked up Solitude Aeturnus "Through the darkest hour" or whatever the
    title is, very much like Cathedral/Candlemass/Paradise Lost. I like
    that stuff along with progressive (earler rush, etc...). I will have to
    take a look-see for these other bands. They (NC) only got ONE copy of
    Forbiddens newest, GONE already...I was bummed! Time to maybe order it
    from them.

1091.5not bad cd, long too!SUBSYS::MSOUCYThu Aug 31 1995 09:418

    Scooped "Carved in Stone" yesterday on my way to leominster! Not too
    bad, 20 tracks too! To me they remind me more on the lines of Dream
    Theatre than Queensryche, but pretty good stuff! Have to give it a good
    long listen while working in the condo painting or something like that!
