78.0. "Nugent, Ted" by TIGER::SLABOUNTY (A Momentary Lapse of Reason) Fri May 27 1988 18:58

Anyone else out there got Cat Scratch Fever'? I do!!

Ted Nugent is one of my favorite guitarists - he doesn't play
real fast, but he's great. His instrumentals during concerts
        are extended and good.

        Partial discography:

        Cat Scratch Fever
        Great Gonzos
        Double Live Gonzos
        Ted Nugent
        Nugent
        Penetrator (love this one alot!!)
Dog Eat Dog (is this one?)
Motor City Madman (is this one?)

        That's all I can remember.

Penetrator is great - tracks like 'Tied Up in Love' and
'Draw the Line' (my absolute favorite Nugent song) will
fill your room/car with good guitar work by the MCM him-
self. If you don't have it, make it a priority.

78.1the Nuge!!!KETZEL::MINARDIFri May 27 1988 19:0825

...well I went to see a doctor and he gave me the cure, I think
    I got it some more.

Sweaty Ready Teddy kicks ass! He's great. He was one of my
first faves. Funny, I just posted a reply about the Nuge in the
Def L. note. Anyway, you did miss a couple albums, but I don't know
    em all either.

    also:
Weekend Warrior, with Teddy full-blasting a shotgun on the cover
    I've also got Nugent
Double Live Gonzo - gotta love Great White Buffalo
    live!
    		  Cat Scratch Fever
Isn't Wango Tango one of his albums - a wango-si-tango..
    one, two, three FOUR!
    		  um...um... um..... I think that's all I have.

Like I said, he opened the Centrum to rock shows. Krokus opened
for him, what a great show.
I also saw him open for another band at the Centrum, not too
long ago. I think it was Kiss. ??? Am I right?
He's a fantastic showman, and a great guitarist, in my very
    humble opinion.

78.4YEEAAAH, Nugent!CSC32::G_HOUSEGreg House - CSC/CSTue May 31 1988 15:487
Nugent is a real showman. I also like his anti-drug position.

One of his albums that I really liked back when was "State of Shock".
It seemed like it was underrated. I haven't heard it in years,
my tape got mangled (with my car) in a wreck.

favorite. Nothing else can release my energy better, except sex.

I don't know if anyone else has this album, but on the CalJam II
soundtrack, there is a KILLER version of "Free For All". There
are also some word changes that I can't print here.

Good album, BTW. It also has Heart, Santana, and Aerosmith, among
    others.

78.7I got news, you never got to go ...RAVEN1::JERRYWHITENo contest your honor ...Mon Jun 06 1988 12:3412
Scream Dream is the album with "Wango Tango" on it, and Free For
All is the one containing "Dog Eat Dog". An early and I was in
light years ago covered a lot of Gonzotunes including "Stranglehold"
off of the Ted Nugent LP. I still love to hear that one. I read
one time that he takes time from touring and recording to kill all
the meat he and his family will need for the year. He's probably
armed with a baseball bat and nothing else ! And back when he was
sporting the Tarzan look, I heard that he tanned all the hides used
in his stage clothes. The Jerimiah Johnson of Metal.

78.8Nugent is GONZOZUMA::MINARDIMon Jun 06 1988 16:2311
Yeah, he sported the leather diapers on the Wango Tango tour.
A good friend of mine saw it. I guess he was late, so after he
swung out onstage on a rope in his leather undies, he said that
he had gotten into a fight and "kicked that motherf***er's ass!!!"
before he had gotten to the stadium.
He definitely was a wild man and used to say he loved what he
was doing, because he could play his music, and have different
girls every night. No wonder he's divorced, huh?

I hate to sound like I have the BIG HEAD but I grew up in DETROIT
and I have to tell you that there is nothing like seeing TED in
his home town. I have seen Cobo hall rocken so hard I thought it
would melt. I belive that after I saw for the 15th time (Its true)
that I can say he is truly a role model.
I am brand new at DIGITAL and I want to say that I am glad we have some

Did anybody see Ted Nugent on the Nashville Network sunday night
around 1:30 in the morning? He was on Celebrity Outdoors doing
a little bow hunting. I never watch that channel; I don't know
how I caught the show, I must have been flipping through and caught
the advertisement beating million to one odds and allowing me to
tape it. A rare catch indeed!

It was filmed in Seskatchewan, which Ted refers to as Cat-Scratch-A-Wan
a couple of times! He explains his thoughts on hunting, bow hunting
in particular. And relates it to some of his songs. It was kind
of strange seeing him on a country music network, and hearing him
talk about "gonzo rock and roll". At one point he aimed his bow
at something off the screen to practice, and said something like
"hey there's a country western dude"! Of course it was only a target
he shot at. He didn't even shoot the bear he came across. It was
small, probably a cub. I doubt it would have gone over well!

Interestingly enough, I just heard in interview with Jesse Dupree of
Jackyl on the radio a couple of days ago where he was talking about
that night. Apparently Jackyl opened for Damn Yankees that night and
he and Ted were arrested at the same time and thrown into the same
holding cell (Dupree was arrested for exposing himself on stage, Nugent
for shooting a flaming arrow across the stage). He said it was
basically a big autograph party, with the guards and everyone involved.

yes ted does come to MA. for hunting, when he can.
we are working on getting him a license to do just that.

    as for killing.
the difference direct/indirect is that hunters admit that we kill.
the general public however refuses to admit that they kill.they would
rather go to burger king or mcdonalds for their processed, steroid
pumped goods. that's fine, but please admit that it takes place, and
stop denying the fact's. where does your cotton tee shirts come from?
your leather goods, wood for furniture. that is what i meen by indirect
    killing.

and for the gentleman who said he would kill a human being before an
animal. you must be a vegetarian. that's o.k. but it sounds to me that
while driving down the rode and an animal was crossing, you would
rather risk killing a person in order not to hit the animal.
i would say it's supper time. road kill a'la king. food on the table.
that is why i hunt. not for sport, i find nothing sporting about
killing. i do it to put food on the table for my family.
i go to the supermarket with the rest of america, but when it comes to
the good stuff, I GO HUNTING!!!!
wild game is much cleaner, enough said.

i did not intend to make this a hunting subject, but point's had to be

> the difference direct/indirect is that hunters admit that we kill.
> the general public however refuses to admit that they kill.

    Nonsense.

Everyone knows that the food they eat was killed, and that much of
their daily activities involve death. Because we don't "say" it
doesn't mean we don't "admit" it.

But, as you refused to address probably because YOU refuse to admit
things to YOURSELF, hunters are basically people who get a "thrill"
out of killing little animals with modern (or modernized) weapons
like your graphite-composite bows and what not.

Again, the difference here is that we kill to survive, you kill for
    the thrill of it.

I see that as relevant, but as I said, I know that hunting is
necessary. I just happen to think that to take pleasure from
killing things is a bit sick.

    ...and another thang...

I'll be the first to admit that I hunt (kill) for the FUN of it.
Yeah, I think most hunters hide behind the fact that they do it

    - to end the suffering of over population in the animal kingdom

...and other politically correct answers for non-hunters/animal

    Mostly for .150:

Bow hunting's OK, it's a real challenge and all, but I much
prefer hunting with my 30-06... it's neat the way the blood

sort of kick up in the air and then flop over.

I also love to cook the meat in a lovely stew and then smear
large amounts of it all over my face as I snarf it down

This is probably "before your time", but replies .160 and .164 are
long-running "inside jokes" in this conference.

I guess you had to be there...

Buck's right - MP inside jokes.

MP lead man uses the "if you want mellow than you can get..." line from Double
Live Gonzo. That was cool in 1978 - a bit warmer in 1991.

BTW - it's fennell, not fennel. I don't want to be a seasoned veteran

For more insight into MP -- see notes 466.1 and I believe 466.3 & 466.4
to get better clued in on the joke.
78.175HOZHED::FENNELLA cowboy's life is not for meFri Sep 08 1995 14:134
I think the funniest part is 466.3 was entered only one day after the "press
release" in 466.1

466.4 is the funniest note in this conference - hands down

Sounds like you were taking the whole thing way too seriously
    Bill...

I mean, instead of writing what I did I could have pointed out:

    1. In fact, I don't hunt. I prefer target shooting, but absolutely
support the rights of those who hunt.

    2. All those little bambies everyone is crying about die far
more horrible deaths at the hands of coyotes (who attack
the animal in small groups and rip the flesh off in strips
while the animal is still alive) or by starving to death.
One bullet and or arrow from a hunter is a much more
"humane" way of culling the herd of older/weaker animals.

    3. No one has to produce any excuses why they hunt, and it's
a tad self-righteous of those who don't hunt, but assume
they know the exact motivation behind everyone who does.
Hunting is legal (albeit regulated) aspect of rural American
       culture.

Well Bill, it's a shame that not everyone can be as open-minded as
    you but... hey... that's life.

Oh... BTW, it must be great knowing that YOU are the one who is
"open-minded" and having that absolute unquestioning certainty that
it's "the other guy" whose mind is closed, not yours.

thats exactly what i was trying to say, some people just dont get
it. in fact im still going at it with db.

i do get a bit defensive when someone tries to tell why i hunt, that im
denying or hiding something about why i hunt.

i answered this guys questions before he even asked them, and he still
    doesn't get it.

                    thanks for your note.

don't take it personally -- I think db just likes to argue ... he's
very easy to "still go at it" with him on a variety of topics.

    > let's see if we cant get back to the origional topic.

Sorry, but this is Heavy_Metal ... I suspect we'll be off the topic

    Oh the irony!!!

Has your exemplary open mind caused you to overlook that YOU started
this string by accusing OTHER people of denying/hiding something
about "killing". Something that was NOT true.
