Marco Island in Florida is supposed to be nice.  That is probably less for
airfare than the Carribean.

I like St Martin but it was flattened this year.  They might be rebuilt in a
year and a half from now.

Aruba is another place that is not too pricey to visit.  When we went it was
600/week each for the hotel and airfair

    In all honesty this is really going to break the bank for me - which is
    probably the case for most of you.  But I have 2 years to set aside
    money and will be more inclined to do so if the venue is somewhere a
    little more interesting than NE.  Not that I have anything against NE -
    as you know I've been there a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed
    myself on each occasion.  But if I'm going to have to part with a large
    sum of cash and excuse myself from work for a period of time then palm 
    trees, endless white sands, tropical waters, racing cats and scuba are 
    on the list of requirements.
    
    It's an opportunity for all those people that have never been more than
    50 miles outside of Shrewsbury.....8^)

    	can change in two years.  If we choose somewhere in the Caribbean
    	it could get nailed by a hurricane.  And finding out the airfare
    	and hotel prices wouldn't be very useful considering the price
    	fluctuations in areas such as these.
    
    	And many folks in here might have their financial situations
    	change between now and then.  None of us may even *be* here
    	by then!  =)

    A rough idea of costs wouldn't be a bad idea.
    
    

    A rough idea is a rough idea.  The only reason I would be compiling the
    costs would be for considerations for that particular area.  It would
    only be used for estimations.  If going to Greece is going to cost
    you $4000 and going to the Bahamas will cost only $2000 you would be
    able to "vote" according to your budget.  
    
    If you have two years to save for a particular trip (and some of us may
    need that time, especially if we are going somewhere costly) it would
    make things easier on the purse.  
    
    I wouldn't book anything this far in advance.  Your right, a storm
    could wipe out a particular area.  Having two years would allow us to
    plan ahead.  
    
    Just my humble opion.
    
    I hope we find all of the above in Flip's note.  It might take us two
    years to find them!  ;-)

    the low season so airfares and hotel packages are really cheap...and
    it's before hurricane season....Digital offers packages through travel 
    that are ususally around $599 for 7 days that include air and hotel to 
    places like Aruba...etc....course those prices are if you fly out of 
    boston....it'd obviously bedifferent $$ depending on your point of origin.
    ...i check the prices all the time since i'm always looking for
    vacation spots..and that price is pretty consistent...course god knows
    what can happen between now and then.........../k

    About the only good thing that ever came out of Wilkes Barre (sans
    the amusement park, of course!)

    I'd 'ave to vote for a Colorado Reunion.   It's the nation's
    playground.  Some of the possible activities to draw interest:
    
    1   Breckenridge / Vail / Keystone / Monarch / other ski area:
        You'd either have some cool spring skiing (ski with t-shirt
        and shorts) or DownHill MountainBike runs  (take the lift up
        and go as fast as you want downhill without pedaling).   Great
        fun even if you're out of shape.
    
    2   Pikes Peak.    Climb to the top and have a cigarette....
        (for the record, that's NOT recommended)
    
    3   Find a spot where we could have a half camping - half cabin thing
        in the mountains.   Cabins for wimps - camping for the rugged
        outdoor types capable of keeping the wildlife away with pure
        snoring volume.
    
    4   Rafting trips.   Not for the faint of heart.  We seem to have lots
        of out of state folks come up and die, 'cuz they think it's just
        a "plaything" - "Hey, there's nothing to it.  My aunt did this in
        Wisconsin"       (it's not the same, eh...)
    
    5   Roller coasters in Denver...
    
    6   phblxquthhthpthpthptht    (brain fart)    
    
    You could save enough in air fare by staying in the states to actually
    have fun! 
    
    THat's all that comes to mind right now......

    I think we should all pitch in and buy a H_M resort.. We could make 
    several copies of the key so everyone can get one, then we can come and 
    go as we please!! Actually, if we pitch in a little extra, we could 
    get a private jet with a HM emblem on the side.. Then we can go 
    wheneva we want!! Oh, and if we pitch in a bit more, we could probably
    get our own limo to take us to the jet, that will take us to the 
    Resort.. 
    
    I'll volunteer to gather the money.  Everyone send me 1.3 million
    (taxes included) and I'll get things rolling..

Depends on how you look at it.  Since the notes conference
LIVES in CXO3 (Colo. Spgs.) I'd say Colorado was central.

for people who live a LONG way away (Like Flipper) so it's a
little more affordable...  Anyone else willing to kick in like

So COMET == BSS ?  Hmmm that answers a couple of questions I had...

    some observations ..all of this is IMO...#1.from the 'been there, done
    that' department....having people send $10 bucks for someone else to 
    afford to come to the party will *never* occur..so drop back in to planet 
    earth ok?..:")...#2..if you're really going to have it, have it
    somewhere where we *all* have to travel to get there....where it's a 
    party atmosphere and a complete get away from anyones hometown...
    that's why having it in the caribbean is a good idea...everyone would
    have to travel..and everyone would be on vacation........#3...cost
    shouldn't be an issue if you're planning approx, 2 years out...everyone
    has bills and expenses, but if you have that long to save, you ought to
    be able to do it..if you want to that is.....god knows most of you
    people can afford that new stereo or studio component or fill inthe
    blank musical equipment......my guess is that this is a really valiant 
    effort on CJ's part to put something together but that it'll never
    get off the ground because everyones tastes are so diverse and that no
    3 people will be able to agree on anything....from my perspective, i
    can't imagine anyone not thinking that spending some time on a lovely
    caribbean island, wouldnt' be a good time..but i'm sure there are
    people in here who aren't into beaches and pina coladas...sick things
    that they probably are.....but i'll tell you right now and this may be
    a plus for some of you....i won't be attending anything that has
    involves camping in colorado in april....as camping to me is akin to
    slow room service...however, beach front in aruba (or somewhere
    similar) gets my vote...and flip and ians vote as well......../k

    Why don't we have like, reunion 'cliques' then?  We can get 4 or 5
    people to go to each location (Colorado, Carribean, NE, etc) and then
    we can all compare notes when we come back.  Yeah!!!!    
    
    I don't have anything against the Carribean, but I've never been to
    the mountains so I think that'd be cool too.  I like to think I'm
    flexible.
    
    And what are we talking about here, a week, a weekend, 3 days and 4
    nights?  If we're going to the Carribean, I'd want AT LEAST a week 1/2. 
    
    I'm sorry you don't want to come to the states, Flip.  I can understand
    I guess...but if money's the issue, I for one wouldn't mind helping a
    fellow H_Mer out.  And besides, I absolutely have to meet you whether 
    it be in the Carribean, Colorado, or wherever.  
    
    Bottom line is that some people are going to have to sacrifice a little
    for this, big deal!!!!!!  This business of "Well, I'm not going
    anywhere if..." is for the birds.  I thought the whole point was for us
    to get together and party.

    April, I have nothing against the US.  I've been there four times (it
    became an annual trip at one stage) and thoroughly enjoyed myself on
    each occassion.  However, I don't have money to burn anymore and so I'd
    like to spend it on a location with more of a party atmosphere.  YEs,
    we all know how to party but it ain't much fun sitting around all day
    waiting for people to get home from work before the fun starts.  How
    many of you will take time off work if the reunion is local?  Furthermore, 
    the drinking age restrictions are not enforced in the Caribbean, you can 
    get as pissed as you like and the barman won't shut you off or throw you 
    out.  In fact, he'll probably poor you another large drink (give you a 
    long straw if you're already horizontal) and encourage you to get on stage 
    and sing 'I shot the sheriff' with the local reggae band.  Not matter
    where you go there's a party in the Caribbean.

    I just got back from Antigua... specifically "Club Antigua" at Jolly
    Harbor.
    
    While the normal prices there are only average, I've seen many specials
    that were well under $800 and all-inclusive (including booze).
    
    The place was not fancy, but very clean, lots to do and the food was
    very good.
    
    It almost seems like one of the cheaper alternatives among those
    being discussed, and yet one of the nicest in terms of location
    and things to do.

    p.s. And the locals there are very appreciative and nice to the 
    	 tourists which unfortunately is not true of many other places
    	 in the Carribean

I thought Antigua got shelled by the hurricanes last year.  Sounds like they've
recovered nicely if they did.

Our builder's puppy just passed 125 lbs.  The dog is as big as a horse.  He'll
hit 175 before he stops growing.  Fortunately he has a 4 acre yard to run around
in.
