Hi!!

This is Angela. I used to be in here way back when but i on't think i
ever properly introduced myself. I'm 21 (AFTER WAITING OR WHAT SEEMED
LIKE FOREVER!) and have been starting to get back into Metal after a
short Dance Music phase... wow, i can't believe that happened! Anyway,
i live in Boxboro and work in Maynard (doing secretarial stuff for
finance - what happened to a nice comfy Jeans Job?)... I have a wide
range of musical interests, but lately i have been listening to all
sorts of metal, including Metallica, Megadeath, Metal Church, Sacred
Reich (what a kick *ss version of War Pigs they do!), plus bands like
Nuclear Assault, Faith No More, and Circus Of Power, and I have always
and will always listen to the old stuff like Zeppelin, Floyd and the
Doors... it's a shame you feel like such a fool cranking good music at
the beach, not that it ever stops me, here i am, the only car that
isn't cranking "Can't Touch This!" ... it's really funny! Well, i'm
gonna go browse for now... feel free to contact me by mail, but please
write to me at CFPA31::HOLMAN since this isn't my account (it belongs
to my boss)... i'm always looking for a few more MetalHeads to hang out
with...

3.3I'm here!!!SHALOT::FAILEIt's turtles all the way down!Fri Aug 03 1990 01:2711
Howdy!!!! from the bible belt of America where every type of music is
considered satanic. Oh well I guess you learn to live with it. I'm into
alot of the heavier stuff now( Metallica and up) although I do listen
to Zepplin and the Doors now and then, but mainly Metallica even though
they don't make any sense ;^) (had to get that in)

Mentally yours,

Metal will never die!

Hey metalheads how's it goin'? I just recently found this conference
and was overjoyed to see it.

I'm Grant Kimura from Toronto. Some of my favorite bands are AC/DC,
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Lita Ford, Girlschool, GNR, Zeppelin,
Salty Dog, and Cinderella. Up here in Canada, it's hard to find people
who like metal and have an adequate amount of intelligence. Maybe I'm
wrong, but I haven't found any. Are there any out there in the Toronto
area?

Before I go, let me leave you with a verse from an AC/DC song...
"Rock'n Roll ain't noise pollution,
Rock'n Roll ain't goin' die.
Rock'n Roll ain't noise pollution,
Rock'n Roll, it will survive"

3.6Hello (great notes file, it almost makes work fun.BPOV04::S_HOWESGet the Funk Out!Tue Sep 11 1990 23:5821

I have been mostly a read only member of the HM conference, but
I think I wrote 2 replies so I thought I would introduce myself.
I don't play any instruments like a lot of the people that read
this conference. I just like listening to HM music.. I don't
care to much for Headbanger music (it's o.k. I just prefer
regular HM music.)

Some of My favorite groups... Extreme (#1), Boston (close second
even through they haven't released anything lately), Whitesnake,
Winger, White Lion, Led Zep, GnR (of course), Steve Vai,
Faith No More, RHCP, Warrant, Poison, Rush, Tesla and so on.

I just turned 19 in August and I have been working at Dec for
about 2 1/2 years.

I'm Bill Rasmussen, work in Knoxville, TN. in Order Management
Services.
My first introduction to heavy metal music was by listening to Stryper.
I don't know if I consider myself a "metalhead", as I like practically
all types of music, but I do like Stryper. Yes, I'm a Christian, but I
think I'd like Stryper if if I wasn't....

Dudes/dudettes,

Wow. I can't believe they actually have a H_M conf. It's like out of
the third world, man! Like,`d-square'!!!! My name is Fabian Badillo. I
am a 23 yr.old system operator/student here in Cupertino,Calif. I, like
everyone else in the Bay Area, commute from San Jose. I started as a
Temp. in August, but as of Sept. 24th, I am a certified `deccie'.

So now, I can write these notes FOREVER.................

I'm not into `thrash' metal, but I like any type of rock such as:

Aerosmith, Motely Crue(older stuff), Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, ZZ Top,
Dregs, and so on and so forth.

When I'm not piercing my eardrums, I like to listen to progressive
rock such as:

Cure, The Smiths, Midnight Oil, Cult, Gene loves Jezabel, etc......

I also enjoy `clubbing' to hear the latest local bands from the Bay
Area i.e. Satchman, Babylon A.D., Kidd Blue, Encore and other
`locals'.

Since most of you are Easterners, fill me in on some of those
aspiring bands o'er yonder.
Looking forward to hearing from y'all also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have
any questions involving bands from Calif. feel free to E-mail me.

My notes names are:
The Fabe
Mage (coz I'm a `major' scr*w off)
or Dude

3.16Let's Glam!!!DPDMAI::THRELFALLThree days was the morningThu Jan 17 1991 12:4840
Hey all you rockers,

I'm April Threlfall (interesting, huh?) I'm down here in Dallas,
Texas. My first question is: Is there anyone even remotely close to
me that likes the club scene (i.e. lllooouuuddd music, screaming
orgasms (my favorite drink) and fine, long-haired, dudes?)
--If so, let's party!!!
My favorite bands (at the moment) are:
-get ready-
Funhouse, Two-bit Thief, Sleez Beez, Sons of Angels,

Dirty Looks, Vain, Damn Yankees, Eric Johnson, Every Mother's
Nightmare, Katmandu, Babylon A.D., Extreme, Red Hot Chili Peppers,

ANTHRAX, PINK FLOYD, BOSTON, BAD CO., THE WHO, IRON MAIDEN, DIO, and as
before, the list goes, on & on! (Basically anything that's classic
Rock n Roll)

I'm currently heavy into the glam/metal club scene, but lean towards
the thrashy, funky side too.
I'm 19 and have my own apartment where I reside with my fellow
head-banging cat -SHEBA-!(she's a cool cat).

Well, I'm seriously looking for some crazy people I can party with,
(with some degree of intelligence)-so dude, or dudette, come one, come
all, I'd like to party if you're up to it!!!

I go to a club called "Dallas City Limits" every Thursday ($.25 beer
night).

Look forward to bangin' withya.
Later, Peace, C-ya!

3.17Hope this conference finds a new home.WMOIS::MAZURKAI'm not shaking my head at youFri Jan 18 1991 11:4533
Sorry I haven't put myself in here earlier.
I'm Al Mazurka.
I work in Westminster,Mass(don't hold it againest me Tigga,I was
transfered here from Northboro about three years ago):-).
I'm 31 and don't think that I'll ever"grow out of"good metal music.
I don't care how complex or simple the progression to the song is,
as long as you can feel the power behind it.
I'v been divorced for two years and have joint custudy of my two
girls(watch out Wilson sisters)They like Rock but I've caught them
saying"I like Vannila Ice".Well,I don't wanna influence them too
much but when they're over my house, and one off these bands comes
on T.V--I shut it off and tell em its crap.
I moved from Worcester(where I grew up)to Gardner last year.
Theres nothing to do in this town.Quite a few musicians but no bands.
I used to play guitar in a few garage bands and played out abit
but gave it all up.I now play an electric organ.Hope I'm not
mellowin too much but alot of good metal song have organ in it.
When I was 6 my older sister would play 45's by bands like the Beatles,
Stones,Herman Hermits,Paul Revere,Monkiees and Animals.
My first album was Bowies Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
Always listened to Zep,Alice Cooper,Mott the Hoople,Slade,Aerosmith,
T-Rex,Velvet Underground--that kindda stuff.

Favorite newer bands::Black Crowes,Janes addiction,Kings X,The Furs and
Queensriech.

I,m 5 foot 10,140 pounds and have long hair, and get comments about it
every f#ckin day.

I'm Robert Sheldon I work in Basingstoke, England as a computer
operator. I'm 17 (18 in March) and enjoy listening to quite a few
different rock bands these include:

Iron Maiden, Thunder, Slaughter, Cinderella, W.A.S.P., Motorhead and
Poison to name a few.

I saw Cinderella play at the Hammersmith Odeon last Saturday and it was
probably the best concert I have seen with the possible exception of
Thunder back in November last year.

Anyway that's enough about me let's ROCK & ROLL.

Man,. I just realized I'm not in here, so here goes.

I'm Andy Wilcock, an' I'm working in Reading, England writing bits of
ALL-IN-1. I'm only working here for 14 months, in the middle of my college
course, so I'll be gone at the end of the summer, but until then.....
Faves: Metallica, Rush, KingsX, Marillion, Pink Floyd, RHCP, Magnum,
Megadeth, G'n'R (love the music, but their attitude pi$$es me off
sometimes), Leppard, Hendrix, Genesis, and loads, loads more....
What I love about metal is seeing a band live (see all the above live,
plus a few more (well, apart from JH!! - I'm too young)).

Hello, my name is Byron Boldt. I am a PVAX tech in Albuquerue. I am a

Queensryche, King's X, Metallica and Blue Murder. When it comes to
older bands I like Thin Lizzy (favorite), GARY MOORE (other fav),
Priest, Scorpions and Black Sabbath. All these new poser type bands

Well,

Since I was dumped into this topic on re-locating the conference I
thought I'd give it a go. Barry O'Hagan's the name, 20 something
and I work and live in London. Used to be a very keen on the scene
but my tastes have diversified over the years. Still catch the odd
gig and dust of those old L.P.'s if the wife lets me :-). Obviously

I am also rapt to see there are other intellectual head-bangers out there
as there don't appear to be too many in New Zealand apart from my big brothers!

It's also nice to see a true-blue AC/DC fan. I am looking forward to their
New Zealand concert in November.

I also get right into Deep Purple - any more of you DP fans out there?
As well as Iron Maiden, The Doors (the movie is excellent), Joe Satriani,Led
Zeppelin, and so on. It took me a while to grow into this music, and people
still don't believe I'm a head-banger - I don't wear black jeans, for a start
(or is that only an NZ custom?). I am a five-foot 12 redhead who is a wp
operator for a living and there aren't many like me around!

But I digress. As I am only temping here for two months I probably won't get
to read this conference again, which is a real bummer. So I am making the most
of it while I can.

I leave you with one of my favourite lines:

"Shuzbert, Nanoo nanoo"

(Have you ever noticed that line on the end of AC/DC's 'Night Prowler?' Check
it out?

hey y'all!

I'm a rocker from way back. I don't know where to begin. I've been
with with Digital since '78. Right now I live in hot'lantat (ATO).

I'm at a ripe ol' age of 31 and I haven't read all the intros to know
what everyone else has had to say - (It's 7/3/91 [late] and I may be
out of a job by Monday so I'm ramblin on :*( ) - but I enjoy GOOD
music.

Heavy Metal - been listening it since I was 8 years old. I

Yo oldtimers...

I noticed awhile back that replies .0-.168 in this note had
disappeared. All the current moderators claim no knowledge of how this
happened, so it appears to have been some sort of accident. Anyway, my
apologies for this. I'd like to ask you all to repost an introductory

Okay, I'll do it again.

I'm Peter Cook, or I was last time I checked. Way back in a galaxy
far far away, Shawn and I started a Heavy_Metal conference because
we were tired of being slagged off in ::MUSIC. So here we are today.
[that was old timer trivia for you freshmen 8-)]

I started out liking Kiss, then went to Black Sabbath, then to
Iron Maiden and everything else. My first concert was Ted Nugent.
The second was Alice Cooper. Fond mamm, I mean memories.

I'm really mellow in person but can create legendary suffering in
notes. That comes from 7 years of ::SOAPBOX. So like, forgive me
if I get out of hand. 8-)

I'm in a band (Note 466.*). We have a demo that I haven't sent yet
because I'm broke but I promise I'll send it out on Wednesday,
Pretty soon we're going to do a 24 track recording and press
some CD's and tapes. Like, professional man. 8-)

My favorite bands are Iron Maiden, Helloween, Anthrax, Scatterbrain,
and heck, Mystic Powers of course.

I'll go away now.

I'm a software engineer <yawn> working in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
I work for the AIM engineering group (if anyone cares) at CXN1.

I like a lot of different types of music, basically everything from

working as a Principal Technical Author in the CBN Engineering group in Reading,
UK. Known as Keef in this 'ere conference.

I've been listening to rock/metal since 1969/1970 (so long ago I can't
remember the exact date).

Listen to just about anything, but main likes are: Motorhead, Metallica,
Black Sabbath, Deep Purple (early to mid seventies), Sacred reich,
Nuclear Assault, Anthrax, Jimi Hendrix, Iron Maiden, Status Quo (pre '78)
Judas Priest, Megadeth, Accept, Ozzy, Gillan, Wasp, Onslaught, Led
Zeppelin, B. B. King, Albert King, Muddy Waters, AC/DC (early stuff),
Groundhogs, Grand Funk (early), Free, Bad Company (early agan), Cream,
Robert Plant, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Rainbow (early), and so on.....

If you're ever in DEC Park, my cube is easy to recognize. Untidy, loadsa
paper everywhee (so much for the paperless office) and plenty of posters of
Motorhead and Metallica all around the walls.

See ya,
Keef.

Okay, since you asked.

The name is Ruth Buchanan aka BJ and I've been working for DEC for the
last 3 years in the S. Fla office on the international side (GIA, what
a concept!)

I love all kinds of the music, except real whiney hound dog country and
opera (except maybe Klingon opera, right, Rob?) I started listening to
EJ in jr. high, then got into The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Styx,
Journey, REO and, of course, Zepplin.

I didn't really start listening to 'heavy metal' until I moved down to
S.Fla. and starting borrowing tapes from my sixteen-year-old next door
neighbor (The kid nearly had a corony when I asked him to borrow some
GNR tapes. He said he thought I was too old --GEEZ!-- and I've not even
twice his age yet!) I like everything from Metallica to JonBon (yes, I
admit it, I like to 'poser' bands! Don't hold that against me!)

And all the rest is history. I've moved again recently, so I've been
without my 'tunes for a while and I'm suffering mightily. As I said,
I love music, but I can't play a note or hold a tune in bucket, so I
really envy all to guys up there in bands. GOOD LUCK TO YA!

Rock on!

Working from home (Swinton, near Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England!)
at the moment with three bottles of Old Peculier, a chocolate bar, a
bottle of homemade wine, and a few pizza slices...

I was working for DEC at the SBP office (Fareham, Hampshire) last year
as the industrial training part of my computer science degree course at
Staffordshire Polytechnic (but don't tell anyone, it's kinda
embarrassing! =;*) ). I didn't enter anything in here last year as I
was always *tooooooooooo* busy watching and looking after our systems
down there...so if you ever had any hassles accessing any machines down
there, you know who's fault it was (my boss's of course!).

Recently been sidling into the world of HM after being brought up in
the music world (mostly by my own choosing up to the age of eleven!) as
a violinist (hey, but don't hold it against me!). I've only recently
been interested in the stuff in here, mainly over the past few years.
I keep getting introduced to different stuff, so excuse me if my
knowledge of the subject is crap sometimes!

Favourite stuff includes (well, the stuff I've heard so far, anyway)
Metallica, 'Floyd, Aerosmith, RHCP, Thin Lizzy, most Led Zep and the
usual list of favourite stuff...(can I say I like Uriah Heep in here,
or will you all laff at me! =;*))))))))) )...Andy Wilcock (see 3.20
etc) has had a great deal to do with getting me into this type of
stuff, so if I pi$$ anybody off, he's to blame. OK?!

Hate stuff like recent Tesla and all the glam stuff (don't know why, it
just gets on my nerves). Also, all the other stuff that generally gets
yer feeling like you're listening unwillingly, rave etc.

Other likes include Crowded House, B52's, Waterboys, The Cult, Jane's
Addiction, most Blues, most things really as long as they don't sound
like they've been put together in five mins with a DX-7 and an Atari-ST
(sorry if I offend anyone by that last thing, but you get the general
idea I hope! =;*) ).

Chris.

Well Im officially here now!
My name is Bob Mercier and I have been with DEC for 4 years. I work for
the Desktop Service Group in SHR. I have been a metal fan for years. I
grew up??? listening to old Sabbath, Led Zep, Queen, Pink Floyd, Yes,
etc. I currently like all types of music. I really enjoy supermarket
music....NOT....you know the kind Im talking about.....plays at warped
speeds..No really I like everything from Early 1900 Big Band stuff to
Metal. Some of my current Favorite groups are: Old Sabbath, Led Zep,
Janes Addiction, Living Colour, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam. Music I hate
is LA Style POSEUR Music.....boring,repetetive....not my cup of tea.

A little about my outside DEC life...I play drums in a Boston Based
band called CoNtaGioUS....hoping to get signed someday...Im married
with children (3)....Keep quite busy between work...band and family.
Hopefully it will pay off someday...

I usually wont start to much trouble in here unless Im in a good mood.
Also, I like to do .......... stuff alot, because my grammer sucks and
it easier then deciding where to end a sentence.....

I'm currently working as a System Support dood in SHR for CAD software products.

Some of my favorite bands are Foghat, Kiss, Rush, Sweaty Teddy, and billions
more from the 60s-80s. Looks like a lot more to come as the 90s roll along.

I've played guitar, bass and drums in several bands over the years, and
last August joined a band called the Diversions (playing bass). They've
released one cd so far, called 'Tourist Distractions', in late 1990 (before

Ok, JJ just pointed me here so I guess I should lay it out.

Andy D'Amore , Software Engineer in Nashua. Work with JJ (that's how
I got turned on to this). Actually worked with Pete way way WAY back.
(Ok, mid 80's). Woke his brain cells up yesterday to that, I think I
hurt him when I did that. ;^) (Hi pete!) Know Mike H. from other notes.

Unfortunatly, I don't have a musical bone in my body (though I play a decent
air drums...NOT)

Love lot's of music, rediscovering my HM love from high school and college.
(JJ still doesn't believe I liked Maiden then , I wonder if I still have
those posters, damn...)

Tastes vary depending on the mood, whether is major head bangin' Maiden/Metallica
type stuff, or just jamin' with Van Halen or Nirvana or whatever.
Like it all. Right now I'm hip to Metallica and Nirvana. And always always
ALWAYS to *THE* band. Led Zep of course. If they had a church, I'd be lightin'
candles every day. :^)

Obviously, I'm not a Soundgarden fan...

Glad to be here. (gotta run to a freakin' meeting, damn...)

Chad here,
I'm a DEC temp working in Hudson, (MA) Telecommunications for the
summer between college. I'm 18, been listening to Metal since I was
10... Started with Ozzy (Thought the bat thing was most cool...) and
progressed from there. Now I'll listen to anything heavy, I'm not
really into the Warrant, Winger stuff (It's not metal).
Hmm, favorite bands, tough one- there's a ton of 'em...
probably Ozzy, Slayer, Sepultura, Pantera, others...
Crossover stuff is cool, too (Prong, Corrosion of Conformity, etc.)
I play guitar, currently just jamming with some friends. I'm not
really into the long hair thing, but I don't discriminate, either.
I have a strong dislike for people who throw unwarranted (no pun
intended =) ) slander at the music; I don't care what they listen to,
so why should they. That's about it for me... Talk to all of you

I listen to every form of music found on the planet but I only
like what sounds good to my ears. I started Playing String Bass
(classical) at the age of 8 but did not start listening to
Hard Rock until '71 (I was only 11) but it was not until I heard
bands like Armageddon that I realized that Heavy Metal was unique
and why I do not consider Zep or Jethro Tull ]:^) as Metal...

I will not list all of my Favorite bands/artists since my list is very
large and includes all other types of music but I will point out that
with a lot of bands, I like some of the material very much and other
songs of the same band/artist I do not care for - it is just what
sounds good to me.

3.90Alright already, here's my intro...SMURF::SLOATWed Feb 22 1995 14:4230

Well, I've been at Digital for almost 3 weeks now and JJ
says that its about time that I post my intro message - so here
it goes...

My name is Dave Sloat, I'm 26, new to DEC and new to Nashua, NH.
I guess I've been into the metal "scene" (whatever that is) for
about 13 or so years. Right now I'm more into some
of the grunge/alternative sounding hard rock, but my tastes
run all over the place. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of
cool bands in the past while I was the Heavy Metal director at
my college radio station (bands such as Armored Saint, Hallows Eve,
Death Angel, Flotsam and Jetsam ... anyway these bands were cool
at the time).

Let's see... Anything else to add here...

Oh well, my biggest musical regret was the time that I missed a Red Hot
Chili Pepper/Nirvana/Pearl Jam triple bill in late 1991. I hate it
when that happens.

Other than that, I'm also trying to learn how to play the electric
guitar so that maybe someday, I too will have a band (if not, then
maybe I can at least get a talk show).

Anyway, that's about it for now...

Dave

3.91Am I too old?RTOEU::RWINTERTue Feb 28 1995 05:5427
The kids are checking in here like crazy (.115, .120), so..

- please allow me to introduce myself. I'm a man of wealth and taste..
I stuck around St.Petersburg when I saw it was time for a change.
Killed the Tzar and his ministers, Anastasia screamed in vain..

- Stop. You're not *that* old!

- I'm 64. Will you still need me, will you still feed me..

- Stupid! You're not 64, you're 46.

- Oh..you're right..fingertrouble..

Rainer Winter, Munich. 12 years with DEC, 3 years with Digital. Working
for MCS Logistics.

Rather a collector of good Rock (and Blues) CD's than a hard-boiled
Metal fan, to be honest. I read this conference for quite a while now
and like its liveliness and humor, as well as your discussion whether
Satriani or Morse is more emotionless (or was that in another
conference?). As H_M is my main source of information on the harder
stuff I owe you thanks for all the hints at groups I wasn't familiar
with at all e.g. Megadeth, Metallica, Dream Theater, Tesla, L.A.Guns..
You cost me a lotta Deutschmarks, folks 8-)

Ryener
3.92NETRIX::"Beavis@metal.com"ButtmunchTue Mar 14 1995 11:2019
Err...

I'm a bit of a read-only in this conference, but I usually note
under CHEFS::GEORGEM, my name's Matt George, and I'm into music
in a big way.

umm....what do I like? WiLDHEARTS...PJ...Weezer...Oooh, loads of stuff.

But DON'T MENTION GREEN DAY! They're on a par with the Spin Doctors!

Cheers,
Matt.

Hmmm, I HAD an intro note in here ... oh well, it was old any-
ways. Let's try this again:

Shawn Labounty
MRO1-3 [SBO group] formerly FXO, formerly LMO2
Marlboro MA

Live in Uxbridge MA [10 miles from MA/RI/CT junction]

I'm currently a Data Analyst, actual title Operations Analyst,
and have been for almost a year now, although only for the last
2 months officially. Prior to that I was a Work Coordinator in
the stockrooms/shipping/receiving, prior to that I was a lowly
Stockkeeper, and prior to that I was an Engineering Tech for 5
years before being told I was "excess" and that it was the stock-
room or the street. Been here 8 1/2 years now.

Current co-mod, and short-lived original host [for 2 months,
until the ANT:: system manager noticed what I'd done and told
me I had to get rid of it 8^)].

Ever since a friend played Aldo Nova's "Subject" and Motley
Crue's "Shout at the Devil" for me, I've been hooked. I love
the sound an electric guitar makes [well, as long as it's not
me that's playing it!!], and combine that with loud drums and a
catchy bass line and you can't go wrong.

Favorites, in no particular order:

Judas Priest, Motley Crue, Metallica, Krokus, Twisted Sister,
Scatterbrain, Steve Vai, Blues Saraceno, Van Halen, AC/DC,
Guns 'n' Roses

Non-metal favorites:

The Cars [all-time favorite band], Horslips, Weird Al Yankovic,
Raging Slab, Styx, Devo, Air Supply

My original intro is #16.

Well I've actually been here about 6 months now but, I'm working an
unusually long and boring evening shift, so.......

I'm Paul Renaud, stuck up here in the frosty cold world of the DEC
Kanata manufacturing plant.
I used to live down in sunny San Diego and Los Angeles (Newport Beach
actually), but got moved back up here in the cold! Why you ask???
Because my beautiful Canadian wife could not get a working visa, and
was not enjoying staying home playing Mommy all day. Besides, with
only me working I figured she wasn't pulling her weight financially! So
I brought her back up here and put her to work!! Coincidentally she
also works here, building these wonderful machines that we are all busy
writing with!
As far as music goes.....mostly anything coming out of L.A., with the
exception of POISON. YEEECHH! I used to hang with a guy who worked

As of this week I'm living in Holliston after moving from Milford (ma) where we
lived for 11 years.

Vermont has some cool stuff. I still like Church St stores and restaurants. We
usually go up in the fall to Smuggler's Notch with my sister for an afternoon of
champagne, M&Ms and macadamia nuts on a big rock near the summit. The problem
is that way to many people are clogging roads that aren't designed for the
traffic. When my mother grew up the Old board (Shelburne Rd across from Sears)
was the edge of civilization heading south. I don't even recognize Shelburne
now. Sort of like the situation in towns here like Shrewsbury and Westboro I'll
bet they were much nicer 20-30 years ago.

I used to go to a neat bar called the Lighthouse on lower Church St. It was
owned by the rhythm guitarist for Mahogany Rush (Canadian band - but not Rush)
before it became a 3 piece. Apparently Frank Marino wouldn't let Bob, the owner
play much of anything so he quit.

Vermont can be boring - depends on what you want. I think it's nice that many
people in my town owned boats and were able to sail on one of the largest lakes
in the US. Lots of good skiing a day trip away.

Too many of my friends drank way too much and got into other stuff due to
boredom though... I like Massachusetts although I still miss being able to buy
beer on Sunday.

Last but not least I'm here for work (people who work with me might disagree but
hey). I have too many friends working in dead-end jobs up in Vt just to live
there. I had a friend who was promoted to night manager of a 7-11 type store
after working there for years... My brother in law is watching the Red Cross
pull out of Burlington and is faced with working in the Medical Center Hospital.

G'day all,

Nic here, I just found this conference, so I thought I'd better sign in.

I'm Australian (for those of you with college educations thats the place
with the Kangaroos NOT the place with the mountains/skiing and guys running
aroung in leather shorts) currently living/working in Munich (Germany, funnily
enough another place that does have mountains/skiing and guys running aroung
in leather shorts) - any other Aussies in here??

Today I'm into Stone Temple Pilots (Core), Guns'n'Roses and Silverchair.

Tomorrows favorites depend on which cds I grab before I go to work, but in
general I like ALL music (obviously that excludes rap/house etc etc), my Heavy
Metal roots come from bands like KISS, AC/DC and various punk bands in the
seventies (god I feel old now) so for some of you seventeen year olds... just
remember - I was listening to metal before you were born..... now when I was a
lad....zzzzzzzzzz
