1176.0. "Celestial Season" by SUBSYS::MSOUCY () Tue Aug 20 1996 09:42

This is for a doom band called Celestial Season. I grabbed this awhile
back while talking to a guy that works at the local Newbury Comics. I
am really getting into this one also, Violins (2 female players), add
to the atmospheric or ambience to the disc. It plods along nicely, a
couple instrumentals at least on this disc, although the words to the
songs show that there is more like 4 instrumentals across the disc.

Gravely/growly vocals, some speaking in some of the songs, but on a low
level. I took my band listing that I have been updating for bands to
get to NC and the guy there hadn't heard of most of them! Guess I will
have to call Century Media and get their catalog and order some stuff
here when profit sharing gets here! I'll have to check CDNow for other
    listings from this band also.

1176.3Check"My dying bride" if you like CSKAOFS::C_MENENDEZCARLOS, SOO ONT MCS (705)945-7862Wed Aug 21 1996 18:398
Also be sure to check "My dying bride". They have many CDs, but
I've seen one at the stores on special containing "the angel and the
    dark river" +a live CD.

You mean you haven't called Century Media? Also be sure to call
Relapse Records in Penn. Big, informative catalog!!

1176.4MDB is a little on my extreme end!SUBSYS::MSOUCYThu Aug 22 1996 09:1926

    Hi Carlos,

I have 1 MDB, rather MUCH more brutal than CS is in the vocal
department there! I sent another message to someone else with my
mailing address for CM. As for Relapse, I've sent in the little cards
included with some of the cd's I've purchased recently (for the win
something free drawing) but never received a catalog. May have to
cruise their website (if they have one).

MDB is a little on the far end of what I like to listen to (See that
'Pril!), but I do like CS as it is interesting with the violins along
with the music, plus very HEAVY DUTY low end, etc...

BTW - I like several of the bands on that Beauty in Darkness CD, a
    couple for instance:

    PYOGENESIS
    HYPOCRISY
Theatre of Tragedy (can't wait for this to come out, next month?)
    Crematory (not too bad)
    End of Green
and some others on it, Tiamat's "Whatever that hurts" is on it too from
wildhoney cd, along with Therion's "To Mega Therion".

    re: .3

    Carlos,

Just got email from person at Century Media with the AOL.COM mail
address and he said "Patience, my boy" as his subject on the message.
He said they were out of catalogs and ordered 10,000 more and has sent
me one out today first class mail (snail mail) so I should see it
probably early next week (maybe by saturday). So I'll have something to
read. He must have seen my last message I sent via the newsgroups the
other day and it reminded him! At least I think it's a him!

Re. Mike

I had the occasion to listen a song from Crematory and I found it excellent
(Tears of ???). I've read also a very good review of their CD (they were
classified as gothic metal). It's a German band.

1176.7Tears of Time for CrematorySUBSYS::MSOUCYThu Aug 22 1996 13:1010

    Hi Sorin,

You listened to any of these new bands I've been getting into lately? I
see that Theatre of Tragedy has their debut due out I think next month!

Crematory - Tears of Time, and it's on the Beauty in Darkness disc I
just recently picked up. Not bad, along with some others on it too.

Hi Mike,

I have to reactivate myself as I lost a bit the contact with recent HM
evolution. But all these bands like Angra, Theatre of Tragedy, Deviate,
Crematory, Carcass, Grip Inc., Psycho Drama, interest me and I'll try to
catch-up a bit.
