1136.0. "Catherine Wheel - pretty good IMHO" by SUBSYS::MSOUCY () Thu Mar 14 1996 09:38

Ok, I figured I would start a note on a band I have been listening to
quite a bit over the past few months, called Catherine Wheel. I don't
know where they hail from but I like them! An alternative sound with
    mellower vocal style.

    Discs I have to date:

    Ferment
    Chrome
    Happy Days

I believe they are in the correct order. What got me into them was
their song from Chrome "crank" which I saw on MTV occasionally awhile
back. I finally decided to give them a spin. Got Happy Days first, then
Chrome, and now Ferment. I must say I like Ferment over the other two,
but maybe because of the sound they have on it, sort of like Alex
Lifeson chords, a driving beat (IMO) on some of the songs with some
good bass interaction. They usually have at least one mellower/slower
    song on the discs.

Happy Days has "Judy staring at the sun" which has had airplay. Chrome
has "Crank" that I know of and I don't recognize any song from Ferment
from the radio. Overall, I like the sound of Ferment, but I need to
spin the other two some more again! Songs on Ferment that they
advertise on the cover are "Black Metallic", "Texture" I think, and I
like Texture, driving beat, good bass lines, drummer is moving right
along for the tempo of the song and some rush-ish sounding rhythm
    guitar to boot!
