	  shawn.... it's a monday... don't get me started...!  ;-)
	  no band plays 'the same stuff' as pearl jam... they just
	  'try' to.

> every band out can remind you of Pearl Jam now...

	  i agree whit... but maybe not 'every' band... ;-)

	  apparently there is a market for it, otherwise you wouldn't
	  hear it all the time, eh? someone must like it, and judging
	  by the numbers they're not in the minority.

	  that's enough for a monday.

    	Did anyone hear the interview on WHJY last night? They revealed
    	where the band's name came from.

    	And as far as I could tell, it's a new band, and there was no
    	mention of Britny Fox.

> Doesn't this band have ex-members of Britny Fox in it?

     um... just picked up the disc and checked the liner notes... i
     think this is a brand new band... all of them first timers. i
     checked the lineup against my last britny fox lp 'bite down hard'
     and nobody matched. none of these guys look the HM part...
     definitely look more the alternative part. kinda like if the
     screaming trees and hootie and the blowfish got thrown in a
     blender together... ;-)

     here is the band line up;

	       j. ross - lead vocals, guitars
	       j. pollack - lead guitars, vocals
	       casey daniel   -	bass
	       giti khalsa    - drums

     song list;

	       water's edge
	       cumbersome
	       roderigo
	       devil boy
	       my my
	       lame
	       headstrong
	       anything
	       margaret
	       punch in punch out
	       favorite dog

     standout tracks (imvho);

	       cumbersome
	       my my

     sound like a pretty humble band... the following is the 'fan
     thank you' from the liner notes;

     "we would especially like to thank all of our fans who supported
      us over the last two years - those of you who bought a t-shirt
      or a tape, those who put a sticker on a car, those who told a
      friend about us, those who came to a show, those who came to
      them all... - 7M3"

     if you've got twelve bucks to burn and you like 'cumbersome'
     then i'd say give them a try...

     later,

    Anybody else see this performance?? I had marked it on the calendar
    and then completely forgot about it. HOWEVER.......I did accidentally
    turn on Letterman Friday night just in time to see him introduce the
    band.  Not a bad performance.
    The bass player certainly likes his hair. I think he's a graduate of
    the Sebastian Bach School of Hair Flipping! And it looks like he
    graduated with honors. All in all they sounded pretty good.

    	Ok, who heard it on WAAF this morning, they've somehow
    	lined up a show at the LA Ballroom in Lowell...

    	Anyone else hear the date? I missed it...

    	BTW, anyone been to this new LA Ballroom yet? I hear it's
    	a decent club.
1112.33not sure which of the two places it is....SUBSYS::MSOUCYFri Mar 15 1996 08:4311

    They are playing this saturday night in Lowell at the LA Ballroom.
    $5.00 for tickets at the door ONLY. Doors I think open at 6:00 for the
    show. If it is the place I remember it used to be called Brian's Place
    and is on Merrimack Street. There is a parking garage up a side street
    close (the street) to the club. Downtown lowell. If that isn't the
    place, it might be near drum hill chelmsford line near the billiards
    place. I am not positive on this. If it is downtown lowell, then it is
    on the third floor of the building and isn't really that big.

    	Don't know what it was like when it was Brian's Ivy Hall
    	but the place is HUGE now. Three floors. The first is
    	like a sports bar thing I think, second floor is a dance
    	club, third floor is where the bands are. They fit over
    	1000 people in the third floor room alone.

    	I like it.

    	Oh and it's pretty easy to get to. Take the Lowell Connector
    	all the way to the end and take a left. Go straight through
    	your next set of lights and stay to the right/straight. Go
    	through another couple set of lights. When this street ends,
    	take a left and the LA Ballroom is on your left approx. 1/4
    	mile.

1112.37same place...SUBSYS::MSOUCYFri Mar 15 1996 13:499

    It's the same place. It does have a good sized "ballroom" there. We had
    a road rally and went there afterwoulds for awards, etc...

    I've never been to either of the other two floors. I also never really
    frequented the place, been there only once. I'd rather go to The last
    safe and deposit if it is still open! Fun place!
