1062.1Don't know about Seattle, but...ASDG::FAYMon Feb 27 1995 16:162
    P.J. just began their world tour, rumor is they will be in the U.S.
    sometime during the spring/summer...
1062.2:*)CSLALL::PLEVINEMon Feb 27 1995 16:465
    Well, Eddie Vedder has become a parody of himself, Alice in chains have
    become MTV darlings, STP have also become parodies, Soundgarden are
    todays Led Zepelin, and i've never heard of Satchel.
    Hope this helps.
    Peter
1062.3POWDML::BUCKLEYToday is the greatest day...Mon Feb 27 1995 17:384
    Thanks for the sanity check, Peter. Seattle's "grunge" scene is a
    joke!

    But, all fads come and go...hope this one's gone, soon.
1062.4FABSIX::I_GOLDIEresident alienMon Feb 27 1995 17:4122

    I think STP are more of MTV's darlings than Alice in Chains...but thats
    my opinion.As for saying "band x is the new Led Zepplin or another big
    old band",that kinda bugs me.I think there will never be another Led
    Zepplin(thank goodness ;^)but there will be imitators or their style ie
    Kingdom Come and we all know where they went!

    btw..has anyone noticed a lot of the Seattle scene people like to play
    the "tortured artiste"...Eddie reads poetry live on air and moans about
    "how can art be judged?" when Jeremy won best video a few years
    back.What's his face from "STP" who sings,always looks like he's the
    male equivelent of Juliette Lewis ie the lights are on but no-one's
    home!A tad flakey even..!?!If anyone had the heard the interview with
    Chris Cornell on the radio a few weeks back then that would speak for
    itself!A phrase he used was "delving deep within his inner being" when
    talking about lyrics.

    Give me the good old days when Rocks stars tossed tvs out of
    windows,got drunk and beat the crap out of photographers! 8)

    Thanx for the wod of info,i think!,oh,Satchel are Shawn Smith,Regan
    Hager,John Hoag and someone else who's name currently escapes me,they
    formed from BRAD (Stone Gossard's side project) and their lp's called
    EDC and is brilliant.
    So Alice in Chains arn't splitting up then???
    Does anyone know when Pearl jam are touring the U.K?
    Thanx.
    Simon.

    RE:  NOTE 1062.5

    I think Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains (no they aren't splitting up),
    Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots are excellent, Lenny Kravitz
    is pretty cool too!

    Just thought I'd add my little statement in there!

    I'd like to know when Pearl Jam will be touring the U.K aswell?

    Can anyone help? Please?

    well i saw the stone templee pilots live 10-nov-94 on there european
    tour ... uuuhhh... i was not worth the money ! ..damn these dudes
    were so arrogant on the stage ... like "i must play the gig but we dont
    want to- and all these stupid kids in front of the stage"
    there was no vibe between the crowd and the band ....
    later in the show people started throwing stuff at them ..
    "stop it or we'll stop" ... they should ask themselves why the people
    throw stuff at them ...besides throwing stuff at the band is an honor
    on the monsters of rock festival !
    they only played 1:30 hours ...

    i never listened to my stp "purple" album ...
    i really liked the music a lot but this show was so "sad"...
    and it was not the only bad show, i konw from friends in hamburg that
    this show was even worse....

    STP...I saw them last year at the Centrum in Worcester Ma. It was an
    excellent show. One of the best I had seen in a while. The band played
    real tight and they played just about everything they've recorded. I
    would say it was one of the best concerts I saw last year. Of course
    they were video taping the whole thing, so maybe they were on good
    behavior :)

    I bought an STP bootleg video of 3 shows and they are all excellent,I
    was very impressed also with the quality of the video,so if you see a
    bootleg vid I suggest buying it!!

    Not to sound uncool, but you guys keep talking about "bootleg" what
    does this mean??

    Also, has anyone got info on Pearl Jam yet??

    S?
1062.19GOOEY::JUDYThat's Ms. Bitch to you!Fri Mar 03 1995 14:135

    	"bootleg" is an unauthorized (by the band or their mgmt)
    	video or audio copy of performances. Like if someone were
    	to take a tape recorder into a concert.....

1062.20bootlegNEWOA::SHERRATT_SMon Mar 06 1995 07:376
    and they are mostly quite good in the sound department,but every now
    and then someone may start talking i've got a pearl jam bootleg and a
    lady starts talking in the middle of light my fire it's so annoying.
    You can usually find bootleg in little out of the way music stalls and
    are well worth the price,which is uaually 13-25quid.
    Simon.
1062.21No P.J. England concert info.ASDG::FAYMon Mar 06 1995 10:534
    I checked my P.J. fan club newsletter and there is no info. about any
    European concerts. It just lists stuff in the far east (Singapore,
    Japan,Australia, N.Z. ect...). After which is the U.S. part of the tour
    in the spring/summer...

1062.23Ten club info...ASDG::FAYMon Mar 06 1995 15:4415
    I found the address inside the album cover (tape,cd whatever...). So
    far it's been in Ten, Vs. and Vitalogy, I haven't looked in any others.
    I have the address at home, but it's a P.O. box in Seattle Wa. USA.
    You write them, then they will write you and ask for $5.00 (US) after
    which you will be on the mailing list for 1 year. After 1 yr. send
    another $5.00 (US) ect...You can save yourself a stamp by sending
    the $5.00 (US) the first time. Be sure to include your name address and
    telephone number (maybe they'll call..) it will take a while to get a
    response, they are very busy but they do send a very informative
    booklet. Maybe the album covers in England will have a closer address.
    Let us know what you find, I will post the address tomorrow...

Kerrang is notorious for *being* shite.

I know that sometimes they get stuff right, but they're well known for coming
up with unfounded rumours, and printing them. I wish every band that had
untruths printed about them went round there and trashed the offices, like the
Wildhearts did.
