970.0. "Fishbone" by PAULUS::JAKOBI (You aim, you shoot, you run...) Fri Sep 10 1993 06:33

    	Hi,

anyone heard from a band called 'FISHBONE'?

They are american and their first album is called (no joke):
'Give brain to a monkey and he will think he is the middle of the
    	 universe'
I heard one song (Flowers...) from them on the radio yesterday and
it was pretty cool, lotsa guitar and stuff, the singing was more a
screaming that fitted excellent to the music.

    	gimme news if possible...

Yeah, actually I have, Tim! ;^)

I got a copy of that one not long ago. It's a very eclectic mix of
music, everything from screamin punk with thrashed out guitars, to
light reggae. The song off that one that's been getting a lot of
airplay here in the US is a reggae song (the title to which escapes me
    right now).

If you enjoy a variety of musical styles, this album certainly has it.

stefan....normally i never explain remarks such as this..but since
english isn't your first language, i'll make an exception....mind you
explaining cancels out anything that may have been remotely funny to
begin with.....'lodged', in that sense meant 'stuck'...as in getting
a 'fishbone' stuck in your throat.....see??......and now, back to our
    regularly scheduled gibberish....;')..../k

Give a monkey... is not by far Fishbones first album.
They've been around since mid 80's when they released
an EP titled Fishbone and after that at least three albums
    - In your face
    - Truth & soul
    - Sunshine everyday
The last one i'm not sure of, but it's a track
    from the album

    Buy 'em, fast ska-reggae-metal-pop mix.

    FYI

3rd album with Everyday Sunshine is The Reality of My Surroundings.

Fishbone started out as a ska-type band and have moved on to a mixture
of funk/reggae/rock. So if you don't like ska avoid the Fishbone EP
and In Your Face even though most people I know reckon these to be
their best moments. Truth & Soul is probably their most accessable album
for metal-heads cos that's when they really started mixing in some rock
    style guitar.

They also had an EP called It's a Wonderful Life which must have been
released around Christmas sometime cos there a two Christmas songs on
it called Slick Nick and Just Call Me Scrooge.
