Love them. One of the best rock n roll bands ever. Hard to
believe they only lasted 18 months (Once Lydon left it was'nt
    the Pistols).

Don't have any bootlegs but there's a few available in the

According to a mate of mine,(who wuz a punk in 1977 in Birmingham
with the infamous band Out of Order who,er,supported G.B.H a few times)
the song Bodies is a true song about a girl called Pauline. She did
literally wonder around with an abortion in a box.

No doubt she was a "bloody disgrace" n`all.

Rumours are flying that the Sex Pistols are to reform
with original bass player Glen Matlock.

Also a one off gig at Glasgow's SECC (I prefer the Barrowlands
    myself).

    Anyone heard anything?

I doubt they`ll reform,`cos Steve Jones is still facing criminal
    charges in this country.

Mebbe if the compilation lp Kiss This had done mega (like the Madness
and Abba ones),but i think it sold pretty average, really.

934.12ARRODS::OHAGANBHail Freedonia!Wed Feb 24 1993 08:038
The last I heard there were threats of law suits from Matlock aimed
at either the record company or even the former band members
themselves. Quite why I don't know. And just before X-mas Lydon was
interviewed on British radio and crushed rumours with his usual mocking
retort concerning reports that he'd been offerred a million to reform
    the group.

934.14Pissed off GlenWELCLU::BROWNIThe Man who sold the WorldTue Mar 02 1993 11:2413
The main reason that Glen Matlock wasn't very happy with the Kiss This
repackage was because the video of the single 'Anarchy in the UK' when
it was re-released last year included three times as many shots of Sid
Vicious in the bass player role as himself, even though for most of the
Sex Pistols short life, Matlock was the bassist. He also co-wrote
    almost all of their songs.

He was pretty pissed off, and I can see his point. Sid came in and took
all the headlines (mainly for aledgedly murdering his girlfriend and
then committing suicide), while all Glen could do was form The Rich
Kids with one Midge Ure. No comparrison really!

As PIL have now been dropped from their label (due no doubt to their
diabolical output since ALBUM) he should have some time on his hands -
but it could never be the same, eh?

There are similar reformation rumours surrounding The Clash.

ripped in their early days. The later albums are pretty mellow though.

THANKIN' YOU - I'll be straight in there - I've been trying for 3 years
to get "Sorry Ma..." on CD in the UK - one of THE classic post-punk
albums - I also thought "Pleased to Meet Me" was superb, but it was the
last one I bought...Paul Westerberg got an award, I believe, in Rolling
Stone mag for best songwriter of 1990...so I take it they're much more
popular over there than in the land of your forefathers..?

Anyway, finally got my CD as they just started reissuing over
    here...punk with guitar solos...scary concept!

Anyone actually bought Kiss This yet? I got it a while ago; the
compilation is pretty comprehensive, it contains most of their
decent tracks (although Who Killed Bambi and Friggin in the Rigging
are missing). The "bonus" Live CD is really a bloody awful recording
though.

934.25ARRODS::OHAGANBFri Mar 19 1993 13:227
The Pistols career after Sid died is pretty embarrasing IMHO. Sure,
"Who Killed Bambi" and "Friggin" might have had the chuckle factor
at the time but in retrospect they pale in comparison to the earlier
stuff. I think it's Jon Savage who summed up "Friggin" by calling
    it a rugby song.

No, you could well be right...wasn't the Swindle film crap, though?!

Anyone see Sounds of the 70s t'other week when all us old punks got
nostalgic (or not, as the case may be) ?

Thought it was good footage of the Clash, some of the best I've seen -
there's surprisingly little decent stuff of them except a few clips in
Rude Boy......the only other ones I think still stand up today were the
Stranglers, whatever yr viewpoint on the 'punk purist' (ha!) argument
about their origins - great stuff.
    Buzzcocks were bloody awful, tho...

Yes,i saw that. Not the best Buzzcocks song, coming from their Love
    Bites (i think) album.

I thought X-Ray Spex,The Undertones and Siouxsie and the Banshees were
excellent. Oh,and Joy Division. Fab stuff.

Eeeh,Rude Boy. Wot a great film that is.

Check out sounds of the 70`s this week - it`s got the Specials,Madness,
Kraftwerk and a load of other really good bands (the names of which
    escape me right now).

Can't say I was a big fan of the stuff that came after about '79...by
that time I discovered the Subhumans, and all the SST label stuff from
the states (Husker Du, Meat Puppets, Bad Brains etc) - incidentally,
SST stuff is currently being reissued on CD, as are the Replacements,
    another fine band...

Buzzcocks reformed and toured a year or two ago - and I think Stiff
Little Fingers are still a strong live act, but apart from that,
there's nowt but nostalgia, am I right?

(Oh, and the possibility of the eventual release of Don Letts' REAL
Clash movie - I hear this is in the pipeline at last?)

No, the Reps early stuff was on Twin Tone, I think. Then they went to
WEA or somesuch major...in the UK they're just being reissued, but I
bought my copy of 'Sorry..." on import from the US so you should have
no problem finding it over there.

forgot to mention, PiL have been recording again and are on the verge
of a new deal - the press rumour is that the deal would incorporate a
clause making Lydon reform the original Pistols for a tour and LP, but
this sounds HIGHLY unlikely to me.

And does anyone actually WANT to see them today ?

    Sex Pistols forever,man

Can anyone tell me if ' Sid and Nancy ' was acurate? I know that movies
usually strech the truth or dream up stuff to make it more interesting
but from what I know and read it was pretty close.

Seen " History of Rock & Roll" the punk years on Muchmusic a few weeks
back and the remaining Pistols minus Matlock were interviewed. They are
looking too old for any reunion.

Back in note .8 it said that ' Bodies ' was a true song about a girl
carrying an abortion around in a box. I find it quite hard to fathom.

Fantastic news, the Sex Pistols have reformed to do a tour of Europe,
Far East and and the States. It's the original line up of John Lydon, Steve
Jones, Glen Matlock (original bassist before Sid) and Paul Cook and they'll
thrash out punk favourites from the 1977 album Never mind the bollocks, here's
the Sex Pistols.

Rotten says....

On their fued which barred previous reunions:
'We don't see eye to eye but we have a common interest - your money.' 'It
is highly likely that we will just beat the crap out of each other in the
first three seconds of the show.'

On Sid Vicious:
'I was going to put a funeral urn on the table in this place but unfortunately
his ashes were blown all over HEathrow Airport some time ago. I would have
needed a Hoover. But this is the original Pistols - Sid was nothing more than
a coat hanger to fill an empty space on stage.'

On the monarchy:
'We are not trying to bring it down anymore. Our very good fifth member, Lady
Di, is doind an excellent job. We offered to do a benefit for her because she
needs the cash.'

On the money:
'If you want to complain about people grabbing money, look at all the trashy
little pop stars of today. Perhaps this is daylight robbery but who cares?'

On being seen as old farts:
'I've enough old farts to spread over you lot if you don't shut your mouth.'
'Like a fine wine I've matured with age. We love our beer nellies and you will
too.'

On plans for the Buzzcocks to support them:
'Some geriatrics will perform before us but if you really want to enjoy
yourself, come late.'

On punks' habit of spitting at bands:
'I never appreciated it. Spit this time and I'll retaliate more than in kind.'

On playing Top of the Pops:
'We'll never perform on that show - it's so bad. But if they paid us, who
knows?'

On rehearsals:
'We won't bother. You know these songs as well as we do. I bet you play them
