4.1Sorry for the down time...KDX200::COOPERRevolution calling!Tue Dec 06 1994 10:2510
    My most sincere apologies - I was at a customer site yesterday and
    KDX200 developed some network/hardware problems (over the weekend, I
    think). I came in early this morning to fix it. I know that since
    the net was DOWN on KDX200 yesterday and H_M, GUITAR, COMMUSIC, and
    MUSCLECARS were unavailable, half the companies productivity was in
    the crapper.

    Hope all is well now (it appears to be).

    FYI - The system device on my workstation ran outta space, and the
    audit server did it's thing and shut down all sorts of handy things
    (like logins :-).

    I'm back in The Springs now, and all is well, we hope!

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

4.6KDX200 status...KDX200::COOPERRevolution calling!Wed May 17 1995 15:0621
    Just so you folks know - there is a high probability that I will be
    partaking in the "Home Office" program. THis means that in most
    probability, KDX200 (as we know and love it) will be moving to my
    home.

    The good news is that the disk for notes$library will moved to a
    machine that will remain on the net (can't seem to sell the boss on
    a wan router and leased line to my home, and SLIP access for 40 noters
    might be a little lame. :-)

4.8FYI - KDX200 is moving to a new DECNET address this week!!KDX200::COOPERRevolution calling!Tue Jun 13 1995 16:0616
Folks - KDX200 is MOVING from CXO1 to CXO3 musical machines... This will
require a DECNET address change - The name will be the same, just a
different address (8.719 is what it is now), it's moving to area 28
(28.mumble).

I hope to do this sometime this week; I'm trying to coordinate it so
we'll only be off the air for an hour or so, hopefully late Friday
afternoon (mountain time). I'll post the new DECNET address BEFORE I
move the machine, so everyone can find it. :-) Those of you who do
not have sufficient privs will need to pass the info along to someone
who does (send mail to system?), and ask them to update the decnet
database.

Stay tooned!

Jeff

is going away in a few minutes - buck up as 28.166 in a little while.

Stay tuned!!

	We're back on the air at 28.166 (28838). The machine has a new cube

    Grrr...

    I was in Seattle for two days and someone took it upon themselves to
    *move* KDX200 to a new location. :-( Worse, they didn't set anything
    up, boot the thing, and managed to bust up one of my disks in the
    process. Double worse? I was up in Seattle working on a big-$$
    presentation for a customer and couldn't get to my files. Double-grr.

    I gotta be the first kid on the block, so...

    ...I'm gonna upgrade KDX200 to VMS v7.0 - so if it shows up
    unavailable, you'll know why. FTSV tells me I won't have the
    kits until 8pm, so it'll probably be in the morning...

4.20HOZHED::FENNELLIt's a jelly!Thu Feb 22 1996 19:466
Cool - We're going to convert one node in our cluster to V7 so I can try out 64
bit addressing in C. Should be interesting - We've maxed out at 4.1M pages on
V6.2.

Of course most of our app uses pointers so that just about doubles memory usage
right off the bat...

    generator/optimizer/etc that DEC C uses - GEM).

4.24This conference MOVES tonight!!KDX200::COOPERDO something Mister Peabody!Mon Aug 05 1996 17:4274
                             *** Important!! ***

    Folks,

    I've recently finished building a high performance cluster for my team
    that I think would make a better host than my workstation (KDX200).
    Actually, I was thinking I might have KDX200 boot from that cluster
    later ANYWAY...

    Tonight, I'm going to move these notes conferences to it.

    The reasons for this move are as follows:

    1. NAPALM is a high performance, two node VMS Cluster with redundant
        members including HSC's, disk drives, and a high capacity tape drive.
        It's configuration (for the propeller heads among you) includes two
        VAX 6430 processors with 192mb of physical memory, redundant
        intelligent disk controllers, SCSI buses, connection to dual-rail
        ethernet, connection to a massive UPS system and PolyCenter Console
        Manager (PCM) system (with auto-paging).

    	The Result? These conferences will be available nearly 100% of the
        time via these most righteous, high-zoot resources.

    2. There are six users on this cluster, most of whom are NT weenies
        and use OpenVMS for file/print services only. :-) These machines
        are WAY-faster than KDX200 (a little VS3100).

    	The Result? Improved file access speed via load balanced and much
        faster processors/members.

    3.  Reduntant XMI-based ethernet controllers.

    	The Result? Improved noting performance via load balancing and a
        (much) higher speed network adaptor.

    3.  Blah-blah...Yada,yada,yada.

    So;

    Sometime tonight, I'm going to shut down notes access to KDX200, and copy
    the files over. These conferences include:

    COMMUSIC.NOTE
    COMMUSIC_V1.NOTE
    GUITAR.NOTE
    HEAVY_METAL.NOTE
    HERETIC.NOTE
    HOME_STUDIO.NOTE
    MUSCLECARS.NOTE
    MUSIC.NOTE
    MUSIC_MAKING.NOTE

    When the move is complete, I'll create dummy conferences on KDX200 to
    point folks to the new location.

    What do YOU need to do??

    Well, most of you know this, but I'll say it anyway:

    To retain your unseen maps, go into NOTES and issue the following
    command:

    NOTES>modify entry entry_name/file=napalm::new-file-spec

    Example:

    NOTES>modify entry heavy_metal/file=napalm::heavy_metal.note

    Please contact me with any questions or concerns,

    Thanks,

    Jeff - Host to *ALL* the *COOL* conferences :-)

    	The only thing I DID understand was the reference to the 3100
    	that used to host the conference, and I'm surprised that it
    	was able to perform adequately since I was even leary about
    	running DecClock on that thing. Heck, it took 2 seconds for
