With a name like Obituary and album titles like "Slowly we rot" and
"Cause of death" (the last one) this is surely not a glam rock band.
Obituary is a death metal band and I had the occasion to listen "Cause
of death". Basicly Obituary play quite well but I'm not at all into
death metal so my judgement is limited in objectivity. I also listened
(and not at all liked) Morbid Angel in time.
The most surprising thing in Obituary is the singer's voice. I've never
heard such a horror movie voice. The instrumentals are fine but the
compositions are monotonous and quite flat at least while listening the
first time. Finally I was quickly bored and I abandonned listening. The
voice was too much of the same thing (and I am one who liked
Annihilator's Randy Rampage). An album for death metal fans only.
