434.0. "Alex Harvey Band" by LANDO::DEMARCO (Rock 'till you drop!) Fri Feb 08 1991 16:08

The Alex Harvey Band was a reallyn rock'n band from the 70's.

They recorded a GREAT tune called "The Faith Healer".

Do any of you geezers (like me) out there happen to remember
what album that song was on?

    Thanks a bunch,

Somewhere back in my dusty collection of LP's I have a live
album of "the Sensational Alex Harvey Band". There was some interesting
stuff. I seem to remember them sorta theatrical in a "Tubes" kinda way.
You're right. If Alan Starr hasn't any knowledge of them, I'd be
shocked as well. He's brought up so many obscure names that I remember
listening to. I've actually dug up some of the albums after Alan
mentioned them (like my "Touch" LP for example) to give them a
re-listen to see how they've stood the test of time.

I think Alan answered a question I asked about them in the "What ever
    happened to.." topic.

The song Faith Healer was on the N.E.X.T. album. That album
didn't contain Framed. It had the song N.E.X.T., Swampsnake, one of
the Rambo tunes (I believe there were two Rambo songs, the one I liked
better was on a different album). A Best Of... album was released last
year ($ album set I believe from a Peel Sessions release) Lots of
clasic SAHB music. The song Framed is included on the Best Of...
collection. There's more information on this band in the UK Music
file. It's got an awful lot of replies in there. If you never got to
see these guys live you missed one Helluva show. ALex Harvey and band
were absolute madmen from the word go - some real "strange" cookies
    they were.

More S.A.H.B. acolytes? Yes, he's still thought of and sits on note
409 of the UK Music Conference.
