335.0. "Child's Play" by RAVEN1::KROBINSON () Mon Dec 10 1990 22:59

In my BMG catolog I saw a new band in there named Child's Play. They
are supposedly from the Baltimore area. Has anybody heard of this band?
Are they any good? Any info at all?

I saw that too, and I was wondering whether I should order it
as a "reduced" selection or not.

Maybe I will anyways ... if I do I'll let you know.

I already have it wrote down on my order form. I was going to take a
chance also. I was just hoping to get a lil feedback before I actually
mail it off. I guess whoever gets it first can say whether it thumbs up
or down. For half price how wrong can you go?

No, but I'd like to become one.

I'm a member of CBS and am not very satisfied with their selection of artists.

I'm especially interested in British Metal and Progressive Rock. Anyone have a
good source for British imports.

Cool, let us know what you think. I still haven't sent in my order form
    yet.
To the guy who wanted to join BMG. If there is nobody up there who
wants to turn you on to joining, give me a hollar and I'll send you
    what you need.

I've listened to the album about 4 times now, and it's not
bad at all. No blazing guitar work, or overly impressive
    	vocals/etc., but it rocks.

Some good guitar, and good vocals, with a couple ballads
tossed in. If you like "typical" metal then you'll like
    	this album.

Stevei, if you look in the CD notes file and do a dir/tit=BMG you will
find a phone # and address I believe. If you have any trouble give me a
    hollar.

Shawn, thanks for the review, I guess I'll go ahead and give it a try.

Well I got my copy of Rat Race by Child's Play this past weekend. For
a CD that I got on a wim it not bad at all. I think I would classify is
as hard rock more than metal. I thought it had some decent guitar and
some definite kickin drums. Some of the lyrics aren't that great. All
in all I think it was worth getting, I'd say that there were only about
two song that I didn't think were that good. The rest of it kick
    however. Check it out.

Child's Play has a new voice, Ty Crook, and the memphis native should
provide the Baltimore band with a blusier sound on their second album,
    due out in late summer.

Child's Play ROOLZ ... they were my vote for Best New Band of '91.

I was supposed to see them in Brockton, when Mystery City was going
to open for them, but Child's Play got stranded in PA when their
bus broke down and they cancelled their show.

This CD [and the taped copy I made] got more play in '91 than any-
    	thing else I had.
