424.0. "Prong" by MILKWY::SLABOUNTY (Save a tree, say no to FF's!!) Mon Apr 30 1990 15:44

I heard "Beg to Differ" this w'end, and these guys have the
same 'sound' as Metallica as far as guitar riff and overall
'groove' ... but they're not as good, IMO.

I think the lead vocalist probably has alot to do with it.

Prong are a 3-piece from New York.

I saw them live last Friday, supporting Faith No More. Live, they
were awful - the sound was like sh!t (but that probably had something
to do with the sound check or lack of), and they didn't know WTF
to do with the stage - the bass player and guitarist were glued
    to their pedal boards methinks.

The album isn't bad at all though - they do sound *a bit* like Metallica,
but without the chops and complexity.

I saw them about a month ago at The Channel. I agree with Tony...
not very exciting live and the sound was so-so. Although some friends
of mine thought they were quite good so.......

Hows about Prong? Now, I have the album and I like it alot, but
when I saw them support Faith No More they were terrible!

I'll have to bring the tape in to post the album tracks and the
    names of the band members...

I heard a couple 'o tunes by these guys and sorta liked them, but I
can't remember what album they're from. What's a good heavy album
to start with from these dudes?

The only album I've seen or heard by these dudes has got three
faces ripped into 3rds on the cover ( I know it sounds wierd, but
that's really what it looks like!) don't know the title, sorry!

I got the new Prong tape "Prove You Wrong" a few weeks ago.

These guys are a three piece band out of NY.

Well, I really like the tape. When I first listened to it though, I
was thinking "WTF?" because from what I remember from the RS article,
these guys are supposed to be similar to Metallica. This is not the
    case!!

They seem more to me like RHCP/SLAYER combined.

A real good tape, with some kickin riffs and good songwriting.

Flip and Pril, you should check this out!! Or if you like the idea of
RHCP, but not all the way, check this out!!

P.S. I don't own any RHCP tapes, just what I've heard on the radio, but
    you get the idea, eh?
