310.0. "Marchello" by GLOWS::SIMPSON (Graceless Intrusion) Sat Feb 24 1990 05:48

    Well, I may get flamed for this entry, but here goes...
    My latest find is the group Marchello, and their latest album
    has'nt been out of my walkman yet. The band consists of:

    Gene Marchello - All guitars, lead and background vocals
    Nick DiMichino - Bass, Background vocals
    Gary Bivona - Keyboards, background vocals
    John Miceli      -   Drums

    Their musical style has alot of Journey to it, some Survivor
    also. The difference is some excellent guitar work by Gene
    Marchello, which definitely gives it a metal edge to it. Also
    tight harmony between the three singing members. While I do
    recommend this album, I'd definitely warn that it's got a
    softer tone, even with the guit work. Anyone heard of 'em?

310.3I'm the OTHER guy that bought that albumDREGS::BLICKSTEINdbThu Aug 20 1992 14:3920
    Actually, I have heard of them and I have the album (guess I didn't
    notice this note when it was first entered).

    Gene Marchello is the son of Peppi Marchello who was in my all-time
    favorite NJ/NY/LI bar band, "The Good Rats". The Rats put out some
    incredible albums with some great guitar work. And their first album
    is one of my VERY MOST all-time favorite albums - it's called "Tasty".

    Gene Marchello even sung on a Rats album (when he was like 12).

    Peppi produced "Destiny" and co-write some of the songs, so that's why
    I bought the album.

    To be honest, I was pretty dissapointed. The promotional stuff tried
    to make Gene out as the next guitar super-hero and I just don't hear
    anything in his playing that is outstanding either technically or
    musically.
