I remember when Concrete Blonde's album came out... people
made a big deal about them.
I remember one of their songs, but I wasn't THAT impressed by it.

I remember the first album. Wasn't bad. Pretty good, actually. Never
    got much into it, though.

What kind of music is it? Poseur-type metal?

That's what it sounds like they'd play anyways.

And is it worth getting the album?

I don't think that Concrete Blonde is metal at all, I think
they're more along the lines of "alternative."

    /Motorbreath... more like X?

Wow. The female singer of this band (Joanie?) absolutely blows
    me away with her voice.

    /Motorbreath...listened to "Joey" and melted.

First time I heard the song, didn't even bother to listen till the
chorus. Second time, I happened to change to the channel during
the chorus, and thought it was pretty cool song. Then I hear the
verse again. Talk about night and day!

Now I really like the song. Think it's got a killer solo, although
    it's nothing flashy.

Definitely a catchy tune, anyone know what the rest of the album sounds
    like?

135.8BloodlettingBINKLY::MINARDILove is a vampire drunk on your bloodThu Sep 06 1990 01:4417
The album is a mixture of styles.
There are some hard-edged cuts along the lines of Sea Hags style,
like (my fave) 'Bloodletting (the Vampire Song)', 'The Sky is a
Poisonous Garden', and 'the Beast'; featuring some cool guitar
    riffs on each.
There's a song that reminds me of Melissa Etheridge ('I Don't
Need a Hero'), with a couple tear-jerker-broken-heart tunes.

The best thing about this album is the lead singer Johnette
Napolitano. She's got a great range, and a super sexy rough
voice. In RADIO_RADIO (alt. music conf.) they were kinda slamming
the band for the song 'Joey', because it's a big change from the
hard-rocking punk-influenced first album. My opinion is that the
song is there because it really shows off Johnette's voice. She's got
a really hot, breathy, deep voice.

/Motorbreath... not heavy metal, but you'd like it, really.

Their fall tour was concelled due to the drummer having VISA problems
    	gaining access to the states.

135.11Walking in LondonTPLAB::VLASIUSorin Vlasiu - Brussels, BelgiumTue Jul 12 1994 06:4510
I recently listened 'Walking in London' (1992). All the songs (excepted
'A man man's world') are written by Johnette Napolitano, the excellent
lead singer/bass player. Talking about bass, Tom Petersson of Cheap
Trick fame, participated also to the album.
The music is generally not heavy but not far away either. Few songs are
quite close to heavy hits. The lady singer has an excellent warm voice
and good song writting skills. The band plays fine and the CD deserves
    a good recommendation.
