At last...........I never thought I'd find an Alice Cooper topic
in here! I thought most people thought he was dead!

I saw him twice in 1987 in England promoting his Constrictor album
    - once at Wembley (the arena, not the stadium!) and again at Reading
    Rock Festival.

I am a devoted Alice fan and think all his albums are fantastic
although out of all of them the last one "Raise your fist and yell"
    was probably the most disappointing.

I also saw him a few years ago at Hammersmith.

Did anyone in the UK video his recent show on Night Network!

    I'm desperate for a copy!

Hope to hear from you soon!!!

    Alice is allright!

Year before last on Halloween night (starting at midnight, naturally)
MTV showed an Alice concert. It was just before Constrictor came
out, pretty good too. I had in on video for about a year, but finally
taped over it after watching it many times.

My favorite albums are probably 'Killer' & 'Zipper Catches Skin'.

I saw an Alice Cooper concert back in '73 (yeah I know, but I'm
young at heart) and they had a reel to reel running at the sound
board. I figured that they were recording. But after the concert
I went over to the board and starting talking "shop talk" with the
sound man and he said that they were playing along with the tape,
NOT recording. He said that because of all the stage sets and visuals
that the sound they wanted just couldn't be produced live. I loved
the show though, I never knew the difference ! "Desperado" and
"Ballad of Dwight Fry" are Cooper classics.

I also saw one of those early concerts 74,75 ? God I hope they
doing the reel to reel thing. Also saw him in 80, it was the
Flush the Fashion tour. It was outside at the Greek theatre
in L.A. good concert. I have to saw my all time fave is Black
Widow. I love the part after Vincent Price does his thing and
the band starts up again. Ever see that closet classic on MTV
    for 18??

I thot his name was Kane Roberts, was I wrong. Yeah, I saw a MTV
concert of Alice with him. Rambo with a guitar. I also saw something
on ESPN with him. It was that Muscle & Fitness show. They talked
more about working out than music. He did say that he really liked
    working with AC.

I don't know if this is the same album or not, but Kane Roberts
(Alice's guitarist) put out a solo album about a year ago. I'm
not sure if you are talking about that one, or a new release
    from him.

BTW, Kane Roberts is from the Boston area. He used to play in a
couple local bands a few years ago (don't remember their names,
    though).

I know that Alice Cooper has at least 2 video's on release over
in the UK. One is called "Welcome to my nightmare" and the other
    is "The nightmare returns".
Has anybody seens these 2 vids?
"The nightmare returns" sounds like the one filmed for MTV as it
was recorded in the states on Helloween.
I saw alice cooper in concert earlier in the year and his show was
excellent. The band sounded OK but it was the effects that made
    it a special occasion.

The song you're referring to ("Now you're messin with a SOB" is by
Nazareth. It's the title track from the album "Hair of the Dog".
Which BTW is a rockin' album.

I don't remember "Cold Ethyl" reminding me of it though...

Hey! ..I just discovered this conference... glad to see there
are other Alice fans out there! From my observation, much of the
influence in heavy metal and punk rock is from Alice Cooper. I
don't think he's gotten nearly as much recognition in his innovations
as he deserves. My favorite Alice albums are:

    Love it to death
    Killer
    School's out
    Billion Dollar Babies

If anyone has an Easy Action album in good shape they'd like to

I picked up the Constrictor cassette in the bargin bin last week. This
is Alices most recent effort, right? Does anyone know who played on
this, they didn't choose to put any band credits on the tape sleeve.

Overall, I like listening to it. It's obviously not his best, but
it's still a good album, especially when it's cheap. :-)

(It turns out VV almost didn't play, I guess he owed Hirsch Gardner

I like to try and keep up on as much Alice Trivia as possible I
have seen him 5 times in concert 78,80,81,87,88 and he has always
been great I love his lyrics they are the best. Jon Bon Jovi is
supposed to be on his next album, w/Aerosmith help, and it is being
produced by Aerosmiths producer and co/writer of their last hits
like DUDE looks..., Desmond Child. I personally liked Constrictor
better than Raise Your Fist, for the lyrics, but RYF for the Music(DDD)
also Love it to Death or Billion Dollars babies has to be his best
    older album.
Kane Roberrs solo album is very good, and my question is will he
be on the new album that is supposed to be out sometime this summer.

Its funny that Kane has left the band because he did seem much better
with Alice. Kip Winger is having a good start on his first solo
album but he has thanked ALICE alot and said he picked up alot from
him and thanked him for learning how to tour with him, it's funny
to look at his name on CONSTRICTOR he was refered to as Kip WRINGER.
Name change I guess huh? Alice has not played with the same people
since his early days and his first six albums, Muscle of Love was
his last album he played with the same band everyone has been studio
musicians or changing band members. Constrictor and RYF were two
albums where he actually had the same band members, but different
    producers.

G: Trash marks a change for you - it's less blood and
guts, more of a commercial hard rock record.
A: It's a lot less blood and a lot more sex. It's time to
get some radio play. The last two albums were to let
everyone know i was back. But if I did another blood
or horror album I'd be stereotyped. I want to give another
dimension - we can do both. The show is not going to
be as bloody, but it's definitely going to be Alice.

G: When are where will the tour start?

I saw it last night too. I was really impressed, not only do
I like the song (like I stated earlier), but this is the
first Alice Cooper video that I've liked.

I must say, Alice looked rather old, but for being older,
I'd have to say he's not that bad looking out of makeup like
	 I expected him to be.

All in all, I thought it was great....especially the ending

And here's another witness to the Alice "Poison" video, checking
    in.

Did anybody notice the opening guitar riff owes a awful lot
to the opening riff of "Sweet Child of Mine?" The similarity
    was pretty obvious to me.

In an obvious attempt to collect on the money now being raked in
by the "Big Hairdo" bands, the chorus is HUGE with many layers
of vocals. Must every pop-metal song be an anthem?

I shouldn't be surprised...Mr. Pop Metal collaborator, Desmond
Child, (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, etc.) helped co-write
this album. And true to most anthem-style rock, the lyrics are
    not particularly memorable.

As memorable as the great line in "School's Out" when Alice rips
the lid of the whole posing, affected image thing by growling
"We can't even think up a word that rhymes."

I miss old Alice. The Billion Dollar Baby. Maybe this new album
will put him back in the black. And my carping aside, the song
    Poison is pretty catchy.

I have all of Alice's stuff on CD except for "Pretties For You"
and "Easy Action" which I have on albums. I will get those enigma
releases soon on CD. Things I have not been able to get on CD that
I would love to have would be, 'From The Inside', 'Zipper Catches
    Skin', 'Special Forces','Lace and Whiskey','Muscle Of Love','Dada'and
the one I want the most "Flush the Fashion:80" (Clones were all)

Cooper hung up on the love songs... Nothing new he had big hits
with 'You and Me','Only Women Bleed', and 'How You Gonna See Me
    Now'.

Working with pop monster child.... Nothing new either he worked
with Bernie Taupin (Elton John) for some pop hits.

He hates his new album.... I have heard several interviews where
he is saying he is so happy about it working with such great artists
like the Steven Tyler,Joe Perry, etc that he thought "TRASH" was
a great tongue in cheek title. I think the problem he is having
is just being accepted for still putting out great stuff and to
be stop remembered for Schools Out and I'm Eighteen which are pure
classics. Its like Joan Jett will never be taken seriously because
she sang "I Love Rock n Roll", she still puts out some great power
chord rock n roll that is fun to air guitar to.

Alice has been around, went away, and just wants to come back and
show he can still kick some butts. I think "Only My Heart Talkin"
is just a great song of the new album great harmony with Steven
Tyler, and I think poison is a good (not great) solid rocker.

Alice is supposed to be a fun guy. He is one guy I would really
like to get a chance to meet, I still thinks it's great I just got
a glossy personalzed photo of him 'To Pat my pal Alice Cooper 89'
    I love it!

I think it's a good album and came out soundin pretty good,
conciderin that the guys had to produce it just about all on
their own.(Zappa never showed up in the studio).

I've got a good autobiograohy of Alice called"Me,Alice".
A guy named Steven Gaines helped him put it together.
Good book.It really gets into some of the gross s#it that little
Vincent did when he was young. At the end of the book it says"To
be continued in ten years".But seing how the book came out in 76,
and I've never seen a follow up,I guess they never wrote the book.

Maybe the newest issue of Rolling Stone will have something.

The book is published by G.P PUTNAM'S SONS/NEW YORK.
I got the hardcover version in 1977 but haven,t seen it since.

I've seen him at the Nightmare Tour at the boston Garden
and at the Worcester Auditorium in January of 1988.
I've been followin his life scince I was 16.(I'm 30 now)

"FLASH FEARLESS AND THE SPIDER WOMEN FROM ZORG"(which is also the name

except for one song called"WHATS HAPPENIN?" thats song by that guy

Cooper's show was real good last night. The first 1/3 was only mediocre
becuase the sound was just a big muddy mess, but it improved as the night went
on.

Jonathan Mover played on the 'Trash' album, but Eric Singer was the drummer
last night (and on the whole tour). Mover couldn't do the tour because he was
commited to the Satch tour.

Alice didn't go to Axis, but some of this band members did, as did all the
guys from The Front (the opening band). Alice went back to his hotel (where I
was invited - ended up hanging and talking to Alice for about 20 minutes -

The Front were also good last night - very much like The Cult. I'll have to

Alice stopped by the KUPD studio yesterday afternoon. He has a few
days off from the current tour (first leg is over, heads east now).

This guy is really a cool artist! As big as he is, he's always
stopping by this station to chat, greets people out front, etc.
Even the DJ said afterwards that you could talk to him for hours
because of the way he is.

They played "Feed My Frankenstein" from the new album "Hey Stoopid" as
well as some oldies. "Feed My Frankenstein" is the very first
recording that features BOTH Joe Satriani and Steve Vai on it! I taped
that sucker! They don't wail as much as they could, but it is fun to
listen to. Elvira inserts a quote at the outro to the song. Says
they've been friends for a long time and have a lot of mutual interests.

He talked a little bit about his friendships in the rock world. He
said he has never run into any of the backstabbing and obnoxious people
like you hear in the press. He claimed rockers are a very tight
    family.

When Slash and Axl were doing their new album (yet to be released),
Slash told him on one song he sounded just like Alice and might as well
ask him to do it. Alice says they call him up at midnight to ask him to
do this song for them. He spoke very highly of GnR.

Alice with play Freddie Krugers stepfather in Nightmare on Elm St. 6.

He also mentioned how hard it is to shock people today. He said some
of his stunts for the new tour "...even scare me to do them!"

I forgot to mention another thing about Satch & Vai on the new album.
It seems kind of strange that they've known each other since high
school and have never recorded together before. Alice said they told
him they used to get kicked out of high school for dressing like him.

The new Alice album has some great playing on it. Check out the solo to
"Might as Well be on Mars" and it totally fits the song - rather than
just a burst of speed. You could lie back, sink a few beers, close your
eyes and listen to that solo and it would be like being Arnie on Total

If it was Vinnie Moore, it sounded nothing like his other stuff. This
was broadcast from some studio, I wondered if it was Pittrelli. Very
melodic player with oodles of cool improvised (sounding) licks. Very
inspired, I was truely impressed with the couple of solos I heard.

They did "Ballad of Dwight Fry" and rocked it up a bit, sounded
excellent. I was surprised at hearing non-mainstream material like

Subj:	Re: Axl Rose at Wembley

G'n'R have been working a piece of "Only Women Bleed" into their
set for a long time now. They did it when they played here in
Indiana last May.

Axl and Alice apparently go way back. The Gunners opened for
Alice before they became well known, I don't know which tour.
Also, Axl and Alice did a duet of "Under My Wheels" for the
soundtrack of The Decline of Western Civilization Part II-
The Metal Years.

Alice makes a guest appearance in "The Garden" from Use Your
Illusion I, and Slash plays the guitar solo for "Hey Stoopid"
on Alice's new album.

Slash makes an appearance in Alice's career retro video "Prime Cuts".
I think they are all mutually fans of each other.

From the May 4, 1992, issue of _People Weekly_ ("Chatter" column):

        WORTHY TRIBUTE

A funny thing keeps happening to Alice Cooper since his cameo
in the hit movie _Wayne's World_. Cooper, 44, who lives in
Scottsdale, Arizona, says that now when he goes to movies or a
7-Eleven, fans make like Wayne and Garth, going overboard on
paying him homage. "Somebody says, `Hey, Alice,' and it
immediately starts: `We're not worthy, we're not worthy!'

a [Phoenix] Suns [basketball] game, and there was a whole
section going, `We're not worthy, we're not worthy!'" How
does Cooper feel about all this fan appreciation? "[My] last
album was titled _Hey Stoopid_. So for a year I had to hear
        `Hey, stupid!' This is better."

It's called Alice Cooper, Prime Cuts.

It had old vintage footage. In-between Alice was talking. It was a
    really great video.

    A couple of interesting things mentioned;

The rumor that the band's name came from an oiuja board is not
true. Vincent simply liked the name because of the implication
(Alice Cooper was a witch) of the name.

When they recorded "Elected", Alice sang it front of a mirror
so he could get the proper feel for singing the song. Ezrin wanted
Cooper to sell himself to himself.

In part of 'the ballad of Dwight Fry', Alice was lying on his
back with chairs stacked up around him to get the feeling of being
trapped when they recorded the part when he says "I got to get out of
    here".

He talked about why the band broke up, and twenty million other things.
Tracy's sister found it at Lechmere so I'd imagine it's available
    elsewhere.

122.270Alice Cooper Album?SWAM1::WATERS_JOFri Apr 15 1994 22:1317
Back in 82-83 I remember listening to an album by Alice Cooper
almost religiously with my friends. I keep thinking the name of the
album was 'Special Forces' with the backup band having the same name.
I have been unable to locate it in any store, new or used, and I can't
even find it in the music index at my local Tower Records.

There was a live version of 'Billion dollar babies' on it, as well
as a song called 'Dirty' (I think).

One of the lines in the song went:

    	You look good in rags,
    	With dirt in your hair...

Any help out there? I'm sure this was released through a label as
I purchased it brand new from my local Wherehouse in '82-83. I
certainly wouldn't stake much to my memory regarding the title.

Groan...... It seems like Alice is really aiming for the "kiddies" in
his music now. Maybe I'm just gettin' old.

I saw a video for his new album, and the lyrics were really cheesy.
    They went something like:

    	I can't get a girl 'cause I ain't got a car
        I can't get a car 'cause I ain't got a job
        I can't get a job 'cause I ain't got a car

    re: Ken

I'm not sure that it's a difference in target market so much as just a
general difference in attitude. In the old days, Alice was into trying
to shock people. That tactic only works for awhile, until you run out
of that type of material and people start thinking you're just pathetic
(ref: Madonna). The stuff that shocked people back in the early 70s is
childs play to most people today and Alice clearly recognized that.
The albums he did in the mid 80s seemed to be almost exclusively humor
albums. I mean, there's really no other way you can classify something
like "Zipper Catches Skin", which is absolutely hilarious, and has some
pretty catch tunes on it too.

The lyrics you quoted above sound pretty funny to me, so I can only
presume that he's still jokin around with us.

From the True Tunes News, Volume 6, Issue Ten.

Alice Cooper, the famous snake wearing Heavy Metal hero whose
concerts were orchestrated by the same special effects people that
worked on the Friday The 13th films, has become a Christian. He has
given his testimony at at least one church event in Arizona (MikeH)
where he now makes his home, and is reportedly in intense discipleship.

I read Alice as saying that this album is like
being back in the early seventies. Completely. He's
talking about the stage show of his heyday and revamping
