I saw Pat Travers at the Channel a couple of months ago. He is
still plugging away. The show was real good (opened up with Snortin'
Whiskey, and just went up from there). Pat played keyboards pretty
    well also.

He mentioned an album he hopes to have out soon, but no word yet!
If he comes to a club near you, check it out! He's still got it!

Any word of a new BOC album? It's been quite a while since their
last "effort" (Club Ninja is certainly not my favorite album but
did have its moments) and they used to be pretty good about putting
    out one album each summer.

As an aside, anyone know if "Cultosaurus Erectus" is available on
CD? One of my favorite BOC albums, classic songs like "The Unknown
Tongue" and "Lips in the Hills".

Believe it or not "Hatchet" is still around. They played in a club
in Spartanburg (about 35 mins from here) twice since I arrived in
Greenville. They kinda faded like the Outlaws did... I guess they
do the club tour scene. Damn, I liked those first two albums too...

What ever happened to Barry Goudreau the lesser known guitarist

members of Boston with the exception of Tom Scholz. He also had

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, as far as the first album controversy, it depends on who you
listen to. Goudreau says he played a lot of those leads. Scholtz
says "no, no, no, I played that stuff". So it depends on who you
believe at this point. I dunno about Tom having to play catch-up
ever since - I have a live Boston LP from 1978, and both guitarists
are pretty hot (see, on a this live LP there are no overdubs, so I
can tell who is playing what most of the time).

As far as today, Barry has been recording some demos for a new album,
and has Brad Delp singing with him! (For those who don't know it,
Barry married Brad's sister, and they are all still friends). No
word on a label deal yet, though.

    Peter Criss,
He was in a band called balls of fire about a year or so ago.
he left because he's a paranoid. He is afraid of the general public
so now he is a shut in.He has just recently wrote a book about being
in KISS but I don't know the name of it,it's supposed to be real
    in depth and eye opening.

Billy Squier's career took a nose-dive right after he
released his video for "Rock Me Tonight". In the video
he flitted around a bedroom that was all shiny satin or
something. At least that's what I remember of it. Anyway,
the vid made him look like a raging fag, and his career
died. He blamed it all on the producer of the video, but the
producer said that he just did what Billy wanted.

A friend of mine was telling me about this concert he went to in
like '68/'69 where Arthur Brown parachuted onto the stage with his
hair on fire...kinda like early stage theatrics ;^)

Anyway, Arthur Brown was a lawyer back then too. I think he had
something to do with defending some local band back in the days
of "The Boston Tea Party" (an old club in Beantown that featured
many top acts including The Who). As I recall, the local band that
got busted was The J. Geils Blues Band.

Mahavishnu Orchestra broke up in the mid-70's, and most of the members
went on to other bands. John McLaughlin went on to a fairly successful
solo career. He put out a bunch of solo albums Among them is one with
Carlos Santana called 'Love, Devotion, and Surrender'. He also did a
couple acoustic albums with Al Dimeola and Paco DeLuca, which were
astonishing! I also saw this Trio live, and they were amazing! Talk
about fast - Yngwie has nothing on these guys!

Anyways, I believe it was about a year or so ago that McLaughlin formed
another version of Mahavishnu Orchestra, but it didn't have any of the
other original members. But they did play in the same vein of music.
John McLaughlin still tours once every year or two, usually playing
Berklee PAC in Boston, or one of the jazz festivals in town.

Maybe it was Andrew Gold (Lonely Boy)? Also, I think Mick Jones (guitarist

I don't know if the Raven you were asking about is the same one

'The Pack is Back' and I beleave they used horns in one song on
that album. They released an album at the start of 88 called 'Life's
a Bitch' which is of the speed metal form. It is nothing like 'The
Pack is Back' but it is like there earlier material such as 'Wiped
    Out'.

Anybody remember these guys? They were a hard-rock band from the Mid-West
(I think), and they had a bunch of albums out. Their one minor hit was
a killer version of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well".

If you never heard them, they sorta sounded like Detroit's answer to
Aerosmith, for lack of a better comaprison.

Anybody know whatever happened to them, or any info about them?

He did a project a while back, but I'm not sure if it was just a

Not bad, first song's kinda strange though. "Take Miss Lucy Home",
it's got a whole horn section on it which, IMO, makes it sound like
something you'd hear at the country awards. Rest of the album's

.57 : Coney Hatch, Oh yeah! I caught them live four or five years

The standouts in Coney Hatch were Carl Dixon's voice and Steve

Carl Dixon's name appeared on one of Aldo Nova's albums. So they're

"Don't Tell Me You Love Me" was Nightranger. "Don't Ever Wanna Lose Ya" was
New England.

New England put out three albums altogether (the second one was produced by
Todd Rundgren). They never really made it after their initial big splash.
Their drummer (I forget his name offhand) is a well-known local producer.
I think another member (the keyboard player?) went off to join Guiffria or
House of Lords or one of those bands.....

    New England personnel:

Hirsch Gardener was the drummer for New England (as noted) and
is a local producer. He produced metal band 8084's album and
the drum sound is HUGE. Personally, I'd be a little hesitant to
make comments on the personality and ego of someone I'd never met.
Or on a studio I'd never been to.

John Fannon, guitar. He sold an amp to a friend of mine several
years ago. He may not be in the area now. He was trying to
establish himself as a songwriter who writes for established acts.
At the time, he was very, very broke, and was letting his equipment
    go cheaply.

Jimmy Waldo and the last guy, whose name I can't think, are the bass
and keys for Alcatrazz. Yep, the Malmsteem-Vai-many others Alcatrazz
of the West Coast. Alan Starr, noted DEC musicologist and metal
meister, you knew this, didn't you? Both fellows were at the NAMM
show last spring/summer. They are quite busy with the band and
    studio work.

Here's a fun fact: As the story goes, the late Bill Aucoin (manager
of Kiss and record company president) turned down the unsigned
Van Halen, saying something along the lines of "I don't hear anything
here, boys." He remarked at some point, that he just signed New
England and he was placing his bets on them. This, in spite of the
    Gene Simmons-produced Van Halen demo.

re: the last few on New England

I caught them in '79 at the Paradise club (Back Bay). "Don't ever
wanna lose ya" was on heavy rotation on all Boston rock stations.
They had just come off the outlaws tour and the Paradise show was
their first BIG headline show. The place was jammed for two shows
and they were being touted as Boston's next big band. I enjoyed
their performance as well as their debut album.
The two subsequent albums weren't up to snuff although "Walking
Wild" had a few bright points. I managed to catch New England at
the Savoy club in '81 in New York City. I was working there for
DEC at the time. It was a light turnout but what crowd there was
liked them. I was in Chicago two weeks later and went with friends
to Chicagofest. It was a big week-long outdoor festival with blues,
jazz, country, comedy, two rock stages, and a big Main stage.
Main stage had big acts like 38 Special and Crystal Gayle. The smaller
rock stages had acts like Greg Khin. So who do I catch there?
New England! They went over pretty well. That was the last I heard
of them playing live. Every now and them the radio stations dust
off the one big single of theirs though.

Almost. He must have broke at least half-a-dozen mike stands and mikes
the night I saw him/them. He had a habit of keeping the mike on the
stand, holding the mike in one hand, the stand in the other, over his
head while doing a final scream, and when the last note hit, he threw
them straight down onto the stage. Pieces would go flying. I kept
thinking "Boy, the money I had to scrape up to by my mike and he goes

Yes, I remember them. Can't remember many details although I do remember the
singer was a Mr Chapman (I think it might be Rod Chapman, but I'm not certain).
They had three top twenty hit singles in the early seventies:

	Strange band (1970)
	In My Own Time (1971)
	Burlesque (1972)

At the time I really liked them, especially Chapman's voice (which my Dad
described as a sounding like a strangled cat).

I think they broke up in '73 or '74. Chapman went on to form the
"Chapman/Whitney Streetwalkers". That band sank without trace and I've
heard nothing of him since.

My this brings it all back. "Revising" for my O-levels while listening to
Family, Led Zep, Free, Jimi H. etc.

Sure, I can do that. I'm open minded enough about 'em, like I say I
only say that one show. Just because they sucked live doesn't mean I
wouldn't like their studio material. I mean they *were* a backup band

Hmmm, according to my friend, Brian Connely (sp?) the singer with Sweet,
originally left the band in the late 70s early 80s and the band later broke
up.

They reformed, together with Connely in 1987 I believe and are still together
in the complete original line-up.

I can't vouch for the accuracy of all this, but it is probably correct!

I have a question maybe someone out there can answer. I didn't see a
topic that this would fit so I'll enter it here.

Back in the 70's there was a group that released an album entitled
"Delaney, Bonnie & Friends". On this album Eric Clapton appeared also
along with various other well known musicians at that time. My question
is this. Is the Bonnie from this album Bonnie Raitt of todays fame?

Bonnie is Bonnie Sheridan who plays Roseanne's co-worker on "Roseanne".
There is an article on her in this week's "People".

Thanks Cheryl, I was asked this a couple of days ago and I thought it
could be possible that it was Bonnie Raitt, but wasn't sure.
                                                                    mike

As Cheryle mentioned, it is not the same Bonnie.

A little background (while I'm waiting for my program to compile and link
here...):

Clapton was touring with Blind Faith in the late 60's. This was a "supergroup"
which included Clapton and Steve Winwood. There was a LOT of hype around the
band, and their very first tour was an arena tour. Clapton became very
disillusioned with the whole scene, and called it quits after the tour.

The backup band on that tour was a husband and wife team called Bonnie and
Delaney. Clapton, eschewing his superstar status, decided to join up as
their guitar player, and went out on the road with Bonnie and Delaney
(resulting in a live album).

Clapton then went on to record his first solo album ("Let It Rain"), with
Delaney helping to produce it and be musical director. When Clapton formed
Derek And The Dominoes, he stole the rhythm section from Bonnie and Delaney
as the nucleus for DATD.

I don't know what they are up to nowadays (I had no idea that Bonnie was
on a TV show now!).

alan
694.229Alan, you are right...FSOA::CACQUAFRESCABermuda bound in 5 weeks!!!Tue Apr 07 1992 20:0011
It was Bramlett, she took her second husband's name, Sheridan. Anyway,
she cleaned her self up, drug wise, remarried and got friendly with
Roseanne Arnold. Roseanne is a waitress on the show and Bonnie (she's
Bonnie on the show too) works in the same restaurant. She has the same
face, but her body has changed a bit, a little heavier. I'm sure you'd
    recognize her, though.

A recent episode had David Crosby as her singer husband and she did a
    duet with him.
