678.0. "Phoenix" by CHEFS::DALLISON (Cocked and Loaded) Tue Sep 26 1989 12:29

Okay, this is the new band ...

    Andy Bogey - Vocals
    Julian Turner - Drums
    Reggie - Bass
    Tony Dallison - Guitars

When I joined the band about two or three months ago as the new kid,
there was another guitar player (guy called Steve Sturrock) but
about three weeks ago Steve upped and moved to Wales without telling
anyone except Andy's girlfriend! So we decided against getting
another guitar player in, and just using little old me !!

Music style is original metal with a near thrash edge. Best described
as Metal Church meets Black Sabbath ! (You won't find a single "Oh
baby" in the lyrics 8^) ).

We have a good number of originals penned and we are going to do
a couple covers too (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Eye of the Beholder
and Iron Man are some of the tunes we may do, but we gotta decide
    for sure).

We are currently writing more material and rehearsing four nights
a week. Should be gigging around January time. We will look at the
doing a demo early next year.

    Cheers,
    -Tony

Well, we practised hard but for every 1 good band practise we did
we had 5 bad ones. The guys seem to want to constantly write songs,
rather than perfect the existing tunes we do. This is not so bad,
but they keep coming up with the same depressing ideas, typical
social problems like drugs etc.. and it gets mononternous. I'd rather
write, say 3 or 4 'socially-acceptable' songs, fine tune them,
get everything down just right (making a rough tape of them), and
the start on 3 or 4 more. Not try and handle 15 or 20 at the same
    time like these guys wanted.

So, in about 30 seconds or so I shall be picking up the phone and
telling Andy (vocals) to shove his band up where the sun don't shine,
and will advertise for another 8^).

I never liked the guys voice anyway 8^)
