596.0. "Junkyard" by JUPITR::BJUBINVILLE () Fri Jul 07 1989 03:21

I saw a new video from a new group called Junkyard and their
song "Hollywood". I really liked it..... I think you will here
more from them in the near future.

The lead guitarist looks like he left his Harley and Hells Angels
jacket outside while he finished making the video.....

Is that the same "Hollywood" from The Dregs, or is it
    	a new song?

Does anyone else think this guy sounds (and even looks)
    	like an early Vince Neil??

With all these new bands popping up, I keep forgetting
    	which one is which!!!

Junkyard's the band that starts (or is that ends?) with
the lead singer sitting in a room beside a window?

    	Tigga~~~
596.3JUPITR::BJUBINVILLESat Jul 08 1989 04:096
I forgot it already but the entire video is taped inside a old
run down house in one room and a couple of street shots, a real
low budget usual films for the beginers. As for the Degers, I
    never heard of them......

Oops! There's three new bands that I find relatively decent,
and like I said before I keep forgetting which one is which!!

The guys that sound like Vince Neil is the band Tora Tora, but
I still think Junkyard's lead singer sounds like someone!!

Well, I'm sure he sounds like SOMEONE, Tigga! :-) Frankly,
this is a band I could really get into.... (not only were
there some rought biker types, and the lead singer's awesome
looking) but his voice was great.....really rough, andthey
all seems to be really into the song, whereas a lot of bands
these days seem to look like they were performing....and
	 not really interested....

Thumbs up...at least for the song _Hollywood_ and the lead
	 singer's hair! Yikes! :-)

It is definitely *not* the same song we were thinking of, Shawn.....

No, I'm almost positive that Hollywood is their song. A friend of mine
just bought the CD, and it's alright. Hollywood is (of what I heard of
it) the best song. The rest of the songs are heavily blues based, and
if you're like me, you're *really* sick and tired of all the blues
metal that's been kicking around. That's my review.

I've got Junkyard on tape (thanks Bill), and I'll say that this
is definitely an LA sounding band, as I think there really is
an 'LA SOUND' that's emerged over the last couple years..
    anyway...

I like them. If you think the singer sounds like someone, I'd
say that he reminds me of Taime Downe of F. Pussycat.
Basic R&B boogie Aerosmithish sound. At times in the album, I'm
reminded of X, and also some Allman Bros, believe it or not.

Just this morning I saw Junkyard's newest video on MTV,
    for the song "Simple Man."
Not bad, basically just them in some backyard or something
    playing away.

HEY Shawn... if you see the vid, check out their t-shirts,
they are all wearing Raging Slab t-shirts!

- sounded real good on first listen!

(Yup, you can tell that I now have a CD player in my car - I finally get a
chance to listen to all the new music I pick up!)

I gave the album a listen on the way in this morning - it smokes!!! Imagine
that if Motley Crue was from Atlanta instead of LA, and you have the new
Junkyard record. Reminds me a lot of a good Crue ablum, but with a touch
more funk to it that is a little reminscent of Skynyrd. Good crank-it-up,
cruisin' music!!!

They are? I always thought they were from the South, especially since the
first time I saw them was with the Black Crowes, and now they're touring
with Skynyrd.

Doesn't really matter though - they *sound* like they're from there, and
its a very cool sound....

I picked up "Sixes, Sevens and Nines" last week from a bargain
bin. What a great album ... it really cranks!! I don't remem-
ber being overly impressed by "Hollywood", so I was very surp-
rised at how good this album was.

I guess it's time to go looking for their debut also.
