557.0. "Steeler" by ANT::SLABOUNTY (The word for today is legs ...) Fri Jun 16 1989 20:07

Anyone have any comments on this band?

Ron Keel on vocals and Yngwie (my ego's bigger than my hairdo)
        Malmsteen on guitar.

I saw thc CD last night but didn't know whether it was worth
        it.

Definately one of Yngwie's best works. This
album is the nads! One of my all time favorites.
Ron Keel is great (well, at least as great as he
can be), and Yngwie's sound is a bit "rawer" than
his solo stuff. Shawn, I assume it's recorded
                AAD?

I don't know how it was recorded (didn't even think to look)
but it's probably AAD or ADD (I'm sure it's not DDD).

But I think I will get it.

Mark Edwards played drums, Rik Fox on bass.

Shawn, no way that thing could be ADD, not from
Shrapnel Records in 1983. I think that's when it
                was recorded ...

557.7I'm still pi**ed I missed TNT!!!!!MARKER::BUCKLEYI wish it was summertime all year!Thu Jun 22 1989 00:407

Yngwie does a mixed acoustic/electric intro to "Hot on
Your Heels", and then cranks through the rest of the
    	song ... great stuff!!

I've had it for a while and just remembered to listen to
    	it again ... I'm glad I did!!

The guitar solo on this album is used for the Metal Shop intro.
Does anyone remember Ma Ma MA MA METAL SHOP!
A very good album,Seranade and hots on your heels ar killin!!

This album was recorded before Yngvie had a ego as big as Sweden.

I've heard rumors that Yngvie used Ron Keel to get over to
    the U.S.A.!

                                     Steeler was excellent for their
time but now it's just a kick *ss dinosaur in the
files of hard rock maniacs around the country!

557.10Stellar, yeah right... let's try steeler...CAVLRY::ROBRTurn this mutha out!Wed Mar 20 1991 20:4613

Steller still kicks and Ron did get the shaft. I even saw Keel back up
Yngwie once. Ron must have fell over laughing when one of Yngwie's
Marshall heads fell off his stack and hit the neck of his guitar...

Yngwie is now hanging down in Fort Lauterdale. I forget the name of
the club, but he can be found at this one club every Friday night being
as much of a dick as ever. My friend lives down there now and the
first time he met him asked if he could step into the light so he could
take his picture as his camera did not have a flash. Yngwies reply
was, "What, you can't afford a f*****g flash?!?" Now him and his
friends just make fun of him every time they see him.
